Feb 18, 2011

This is my first post and I'm pretty new on Debian. I had used Ubunu for a while now and I've decided to move on Debian Squeeze. But I've one problem: I've a Java programm to install and the installer is GUI Java based. When I run the script, I've the next message:

Preparing to install. Extracting the JRE from the installer archive.Unpacking the JRE.Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive.Configuring the installer for this system's environment.Launching installer Graphical installers are not supported by the VM. The console mode will be used instead. Preparing CONSOLE Mode Installation. But this program is not able to run the installation in console mode.

I've tried to install sun-java6-jre but without success.Has anyone an idea to help me install this programm? My Configuration: Debian Squeeze 6.0 amd64.

Programming :: Set File Path For Different OS In Java

May 11, 2011

I'm fighting my way through JAVA. But have hit another wall. Basically I need to to set paths in java so it can set/read files/director for Linux,Mac and windows.

The tutorials I'm using says to do this through the FileSystems class eg

However this reports it is missing, so a look on line says I need the headers so I set them with

Code:

This gives the following error

This has me totally confused as the tutorial shows this and checking online shows this, do I need to link in libraries or something like that?

I'm using the latest Ubuntu 11.04 and netbeans.

Sep 22, 2010

I have a program that has a GUI which I have placed in /usr/local/bin however when I invoke the program I receive the following error:

Unable to find a supported JDK or JRE version. Version 1.3.1 or higher is required. Check your installation and use +javahome to specify the JDK or JRE location

I have since installed Java into the usr/local/ directory however I am now just totally Lost! Additionally, I believe that i have tried to install Java several times with no luck.

2) How can I place the Java location in my $PATH? here I am going to need very easy and detailed instructions?

3) Is there a way to ensure that the location where I intall java gets updates?

Slackware :: Installing Java Error - When Trying To Run A Java App With The Firefox Plugin - Browser Crashe

May 29, 2011

Code: ~ $ /usr/java/jre1.6.0_25/bin/java -showversion Error occurred during initialization of VMjava/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object

That's the error I get. When trying to run a java app with the firefox plugin, the browser simply crashes if it's the 64bit java or tells me it's not installed if it's the 32bit version.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. I think it has something to do with leftover gunk from a previous version I misinstalled(Is that even a word?) Anyway, the only thing that google could come up with was a solution for windows which laid blame on Bill Gates for having a bunch of pf (java prefetch) files stuffed into c:windows for no apparent reason. The solution was to delete them, but I can't seem to find the java prefetch folder in linux. The method I used is downloading the rpm from java.com the rpm2tgz then installpkg then cp libnpjp2.so to firefox plugins folder.

Software :: Set Mail.jar - JavaMail - And Mysql-connector-java.jar In Class Path

Jan 18, 2010

I want to ask how i set Linux class path for mail.jar and mysql-connector.jar. I have set the class path for java with the command.

Also if i want to know that what shell i am using how can i find it.Also what is the command for showing class path variables or how can i see my JAVA_HOME class path.Means after setting the class path for above two files how can i see that these files have added.

When i write echo $CLASSPATH or echo $JAVA_HOME it shows nothing no error but again shows the prompt.

One thing more i want to run a java program on Linux it is in a package (named asteriskproject). It consist of 10 java files. I have run this program on windows using netbeans IDE.For this program i need to set my Linux class path for the above mentioned files, and this is my first time that i am running any program on Linux. CentOS 5 :: Java GNOME Mime Installation Error

Jan 8, 2011

I am experiencing issues when installing a software package, receiving the following error codes within .../install/logs/log.txt

"percent complete: 98%"
"...../JDK/jre.pak/repository/package.java.jre/java/jre/lib/desktop/icons/HighContrastInverse/16x16/mimetypes/gnome-mime-application-x-java-archive.png (No such file or directory)
"The file java/jre/lib/desktop/icons/HighContrastInverse/16x16/mimetypes/gnome-mime-application-x-java-archive.png could not be replaced"

From looking in the specified directory I can see that this file does not exist, however I am unable to simply create or copy a file with the required name to resolve this issue. Is this a known error, or is my install package simply missing the needed files; even though I managed to successfully install this package a few days earlier onto the same system.

Ubuntu :: Java Installation Error Connecting To MySQL Database

Jul 2, 2009

I have recently installed Java in my Ubuntu 9.04 environment so that I can teach myself Java. Basic Java programs work, but I am having trouble connecting to a MySQL database. I installed these packages using Synaptic Package Manager.

1.gsfonts-x11
2.java-common
3.odbcinst1debian1
4.sun-java6-bin
5.sun-java6-jdk
6.sun-java6-jre
7.unixodbc

After these packages were installed, I was not sure if I needed to do this, but I downloaded the MySQL connector from MySQL :: MySQL Connectors and installed in a directory called /home/mark/mysql/.

I then did "sudo gedit /etc/environment" and added a CLASSPATH to where I installed the connector:

Code:

I found an example Java program from Using JDBC with MySQL, Getting Started and stripped it down even further to test the MySQL connection.

This is the program I am running:

Code:

Could not find the main class: Jdbctest. Program will exit. I am new to Linux, Ubuntu, Java and MySQL, so I have probably left out something that is very obvious.

I'm having a strange issue with the PATH variable when running the command 'sudo su'. When executing this command the PATH variable changes. No problems there, but it changes to:

Code:

Looking at this, there are two weird entries (//sbin and //bin) which should both start '/usr' instead. I'm not sure how I've managed to change this, or how a piece of software I'm using has done it (more likely it was me I expect), but could anyone suggest which file to look in to correct it? If it makes a difference the machine is running CentOS 5.
