I had windows 7 and I was addicted to play GTA san andreas multi-player. It is still in my computer > C:/ PROGRAM FILES/ROCKSTAR GAMES/samp.exe I want to play that now but when I click on samp.exe it opens with File Roller 2.30.1.1

I used to be able to use the NFL game center on nfl.com to watch the play-by-play when I was using Fedora 10.Now that I am on Fedora 12 it no longer works. I am able to click into a game and see all the info but the play-by-play drive chart no longer displays anything. Does anyone out there know how to get this working?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been struggling to find a way to play a game under Wine without using the CD, so looked if it was possible in Wine. I came across this commmand: Code: sudo mount /home/joseph/BIONICLE.iso -o loop /media/cdrom0/ which I tried. It didn't work, and gave me an error about how there was no "cdrom0". I assumed that it was created whenever something is mounted. Out of desperation, I removed cdrom0 from the command, and then things got funky. Doing so replaced all the contents of /media (there were no files, only useless floppy folders, since I have no floppy drive) with the contents of the ISO file. I tried using sudo to delete the files, but it said that it was a read-only filesystem. I tried changing the permissions using sudo chmod +w /media, but it didn't work, and complained about being read-only. I am unable to mount anything now! Can someone help, both with deleting /media, and possibly with running Wine games without the CD?
View 1 Replies View Relatedcurrently running mint 8, and have installed both spotify and steam via winedoors. both installed no problem and "work" ok when i open them. my problem is, in steam, it connects, updates, shows my games etc, but when i go to open it it tells me it is lauching my game but nothing happens, no game launch. with spotify, i connect, can see all my playlist etc, buyt when i play a song, no sound! also, im having issues with a program called tuxguitar, which is a midi based guitar tool. where everything is playing through but also no sound.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to play this game dawn-rpg.sourceforge.net and it immediately crashes whenever I try to play sounds. The only other sound in this system I have are the sounds for the bash/dash terminal.
So my questions are:-
a. How do I test if the sound system is working alright.
b. Do I need to increase some kind of priorty/niceness to sound systems to make sure they get the available resources (cpu, memory ) whatever it needs ?

Sound can play but music can't in the game "second life" and I'm using it on ubuntu. I don't know how to fix the problem or where to begin and I had asked a tech in that game and they said it might have to do with the firewall, but wouldn't help me out because I wasn't premium. The first sentence is the problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy last laptop was replaced (I gave it to my step-dad, his laptop broke and I bought myself a new one).
I am running Squeeze (as I was on my other laptop) and everything is fine except for the games. On my other laptop games like OpenArena and Warzone 2100 ran perfectly fine, but on this laptop, they are impossible to play. The game will open, but everything is so slow and choppy that it takes a couple of minutes to even move the cursor to the exit game buttons.
My current laptop is an HP ProBook4525s with the current specs:
AMD Athlon Dual-Core P340 2.2 GHz processor
2GB DDR3 RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Graphics Card
I'm not sure what other information to put here, I've tried searching how to fix this and most people say to lower the resolution and details for the games but that doesn't work, heck, even Tux Kart is too slow to play!
When I installed squeeze I was informed that I didn't have the rtl8168d-2.fw firmware for my laptop, I'm not sure if that helps here at all (can't seem to find what it is for, the only things that google gives me are very technical with fixes that involve re-compiling the kernel).
I downloaded the latest version of DirectX and installed it through Wine. It seemed to work, but whenever I try to play Akane's new Death Note game, it says 'Failed to initialize DirectX Audio' and closes the window. How can I fix this problem? I need my fan service!
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I play some fullscreen games such as Trackballs, the bottom part of the game gets "chopped off". If I choose not to play in fullscreen (via the game options), I can see the whole game.
I'm guessing this could be a bug in the nvidia graphics driver?
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit with the latest nvidia driver. I know it's a "closed source" driver, but it was the only one I was offered to install.
This game is Java based. After rebooting the game works, but on ending the game several notification boxes remain. If these boxes are not closed in the reverse order that the game opened them, it is no longer possible to close them. Only by killing the Java processes can these notifications be made to close. Also after playing the game, even if all these notifications are closed it is many times necessary to kill the Java process(es) in order to get the game to load again at a later time. I am currently using Slackware 1.30, but a similar problem has existed in several of the past releases.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi've installed 'ghost recon' which i downloaded via torrent. i open the executables with right-click and clicking executable, i guess this just used WINE automatically. it seems to download fine. i downloaded into a folder i called 'c:desktop' which i thought would make the files end up on my regular desktop, but i can't find them anywhere. when i run autorun.exe from the cd it opens, but when i click 'play ghost recon' is gives a dialog box saying it can locate the cd.

There's one game in the bundle that doesn't offer a 64bit build and therefore it fails to load. It's called Braid and that's what you get when you try to run it: $ ./braid ./braid: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Of course the 64bit libs for OpenGL and the propitiatory nvidia drivers are installed, but the game asks for the 32bit ones, at least to my understanding. I do know that why can install 32bit libraries on a 64 bit linux system (we do that for the sake of crappy Adobe Flash), but I don't know where to find these libs (searching the repo with keywords like .i586 or ia32 led me nowhere).
I recently upgraded my hardware to 64 bit dual core and a new Nvidia graphics card - GeForce 210. When I tried to play a BBC documentary, nothing happened. I think movie player starts up and promptly crashes. I tried starting the program manually and asking it to play the DVD. The program crashed and "vanished before my eyes". Oh well! another nvidia story. I dual booted and even Windows Media Player (latest version), refused to play the DVD, complaining of some security mismatch or something to do with the video card driver. I downloaded and installed VLC, windows version and all went well. Returning to Ubuntu, I found that the Linux version of VLC failed. (I have installed the proprietary drivers)

I've just installed Ubuntu and it seems the sound isnt working in it. Anyway - i have two screens. One is a tv and i want the sound to come out of there(its running through a hdmi cable).Works completely fine in windows. I havn't installed nivada plugin thingy as it stops my dual monitors working =(. So maybe this is the problem? From what i remember it worked in wubi though (without nivada drivers)I followed the troubleshoot and couldn't seem to find anything wrong?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having problems listening to windows media streams from a particular website ( http://radiotime.com ) whenever I try to listen to a stream from firefox, the page loads then connects but i have no sound (i am actually trying to listen to those two chinese radios [URL].. I have the mplayerplug-in/gecko-mediaplayer installed, but it doesn't work, I tought that maybe there was a problem with that plugin so I deactivated it and installed the vlc plugin, after restarting firefox and trying to listen to those streams again, the vlc plugin tried to read it but it still would not work. I even tried to install the Silverlight Plug-In without any result, does anybody know what I could do to make windows media audio streams work ? it is wierd because i seem to be able to watch windows media video streams from other websites, but i cannot listen to any stream from this one, it used to work for mp3 streams only, but after desinstalling/resinstalling the mplayer plug in, it doesn't work anymore on this website. I can listen to those streams without any problem under windows 7, so the problem isn't coming from the website.
View 5 Replies View Relatedmy first impressions are that for all the dissing of Windows at least if I stick a CD in the tray it plays....I installed ubuntu 9.04 on a VM running alongside WindowXP and upgraded to 9.10. When I open rhythmbox and put a CD in the tray nothing happens..despite the book saying it will play automatically....after much googling I cannot find anything on this problem..most people are trying to stop autoplay. There is not even a cdrom option in the sidepanel of Rhythmbox. I have installed ubuntu-restricted-extras as advised...nada.
A chat room reply suggested abandon rhythmbox and install vlc which I did...same problem though at least i get an error message "unable to open MRL cdda://dev/sr0". As a complete newbie I do not know what to put int he command line to run rhythmbox or vlc to see the complete error log. I have spent two days trying to resolve this problem...the equivalent of several months worth of hanging/freezing on windows

I have Fedora 11 and I cannot play a windows media stream in Firefox. E.g. http://www.rogersplus.ca/movie.asp?mid=35147# from this site I cannot view trailers in Windows Media Format but I can using Real Player. When I select Windows Media Stream, all I see is a black window in place of video.
I have installed following plugins in Firefox, DivX Browser Plug-in (Geko Media Player 0.9.8), MozPlugger 1.12.1, gecko-mediaplayer 0.9.8, VLC Multimedia Plug-in 1.0.3.
I'm using openSUSE 11.2 64bit in Dell E6400 with Intel video chipset. I can play x264 720p files without any problems in Windows 7, but in openSUSE, I could play it in Totem, but it is very slow (lots of stopping).
In addition, in songbird, if I use the mediaflow add-on,the scroll becomes really sluggish.
In general, I feel like openSUSE is showing less ram usage but higher CPU usage than Windows 7. Is my video card driver is messed up? I really like openSUSE a lot but so it is disappointing....

I'm trying to play a video across the network (watch the "Live View" of a Network Camera) using my Linux/Ubuntu 10.10 Laptop. The video plays fine from Windows and Mac using any browser with Quicktime plugin. My Linux/Ubuntu seems to have a Quicktime plugin called Totem, which shows up in Plug-ins tab as QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.6 Totem 2.32.0 (using GStreamer 0.10.30) When Firefox tries to open the videostream using Totem, no video is played just there's an unfunctioning play button and a blank video screen. My own suggestion to this problem is to use another side application such as VLC player inside Firefox. But it seems VLC is unusable in this case because the network video's requires HTTP authentication and I cannot enter that authentication info from VLC itself.

The main question I have is this. I heard that HDD makers will no longer ship the current HDD's in Jan. Heard that 512 byte hard drive format is to be replaced by 4KB. I really want to use Vista only for running certain applications which do not run on linux. I have heard WINE can simulate a WIN environment. But is this really true? I mean, can it simulate WIN environments perfectly?
My next question is regarding dual HDD. I am planning to go for 2*500GB HDD instead of 1*1TB HDD... So will it be better if I dedicate one HDD to Vista and 1 HDD to Fedora? I dont see any firewall protection in Linux. I have heard of using IPTables, but then how efefctive are those? I will be doing many online transactions and I want my system to be secure. I know Linux is pretty secure. So should I harden the security with a hardware firewall?
I will be watching a lot of DVD movies, AVI movies and some HD movies as well. Does linux have issues rendering HD movies properly? I have read somewhere that fedora has issues while Win is good and Debian/CentOS (Not sure which one was mentioned) is even better. I had a pretty powerful config in teh past and yet I have seen that my Vista machine had trouble rendering a HD movie properly.
I will be buying AMD configuration along with an ATI graphic card (sometimes). Does Fedora have any driver issues?
I was unable to play windows media player content from WEB using Firefox. Firefox is asking to install missing plug-ins. But when I click on "install missing plug-in" button, its showing "No plug-ins found". In windows its played by windows Media player plug-in.
