Ubuntu :: GNURadio Configure / Build - Bootstrapped Fine
Feb 2, 2011
I am installing/building gnuradio and following the instructions from the gnuradio.org/wiki. seemed like I got everything it needs: pre-req pkgs, git UHD and gnuradio pkgs. Built UHD without problems. I am at the gnuradio configuring/building, bootstrapped fine. But when I ran ./configure, error with:
les@Liquid:/gnuradio$ ./configure
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory
There is no configure file in directory.

In order to get my Ubuntu system up and running on the Internet I need to install Sakis3g, and when installing, the system does not pick up ./Configure. My first thought was that the Build Essentials were not present but turns out that they are already installed, so now I'm at a dead end as I cannot finish my install. Has anyone else had any problems similar to this one?

Is there any way to get the configure line that was used to build an Apache installation from source.
I compiled Apache 2.2.14 a while ago on Ubuntu and I can't remember the ./configure line I used to build it. Is there any way I can retrieve it?

I am trying to build Pidgin on my Lucid install and on running configure, I get the following:
Quote:
configure: error: You must have GLib 2.4.0 or newer development headers installed to build.
If you have these installed already you may need to install pkg-config so I can find them. I tried installing pkg-config, but it's already in its newest version. I then tried going to the following website
[URL]
and downloaded and extracted glib on my computer. That changed nothing. I was hoping someone could tell me what's going on here. I just tried the this:
Quote:
sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-0
and got
Quote:
libgtk2.0-0 is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

I have an init script running as a special build user which performs an automated build that fails with (Too many open files).I updated /etc/security/limits to allow the special user more open files, but that didn't work - the init script still isn't allowed more open files.Here's a demonstration of the problem;
Code:

I'm in love with my Opensuse 11.2. Love my KDE 4.4. The only thing I miss from my Ubuntu installation, is the ability to use Boxee. I would be more than willing to compile Boxee from source. I only have 2 problems with that:
1) I don't know where I can find all the build-deps or what they are for that matter to build Boxee.
2) I'm running on a Netbook. Yes, my measly Intel Atom is no fun for compiling and building.
What are my options/what can I do to get Boxee up and running on 11.2? I've tried searching on build service for an RPM, but I think due to legal restrictions, Boxee can't be on there.

Trying to install SW 13.1 (on DVD) on the following system: M/B Intel: DX38BT Processor Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 - 2.66GHz, 8MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB, Socket 775 Memory Corsair Dual Channel 8192MB PC10600 DDR3 1333MHz Memory (4x2048MB) Graphics Diamond Radeon HD 3850 Video Card - Viper, 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0 P/S Ultra 1000W
My goal is to install the i386 build on one partition and the 64-bit build on another. I have been away from Linux for a while and am sick to death of Win7, want to come home. :-}
Booted on i386 side of DVD, system freezes after a couple of lines that start with ATA2. Does not respond to 3 finger salute, ctrl-c, nothing. Have to press reset. I have tried both huge.s and hugesmp.s kernels
Booted on 64-bit side, comes up fine. I performed the install, selected for automatic lilo install. Lilo install hung but I was able to reboot. I booted off the 64-bit side again, entered the following: huge.s root=/dev/sde3 rdinit= ro It booted fully to the login prompt but the keyboard does not work, no input.

Basically i set up a webserver using this tutorial but installed ubuntu 10.10 [URL]
im using charter cable and it has that ubee router. when i tried to set up the static ip the closest thing i saw was an option called static ip lease in which input my servers local address and mac address and checked enable. then i applied dmz to my servers local ip. after that i typed in my public ip and to my excitement it worked. so i began creating the website. i dont know if all that is relevant but just in case i didnt want to leave anything out. this is my first time with linux and servers and ive only been at it for about 5 days. anyways i made the website and everything was going good then i needed to reboot the server so i did. after reboot i logged into the server then went back to the other room where i worked on the server using putty from a pc and flashfxp and tried to navigate to the website in firefox. it didnt work. if i try to go to the website address from a computer on my network i get a problem loading page error from firefox and if im on a different network it shows my router page to login and configure. i dont understand how it was working then after reboot it all of a sudden doesnt.
o also i installed gnump3 today before reboot if that is important

Essentially, what I am attempting to do is set up an older PC with a Radeon 9600 video card chipset in it with xubuntu 9.10. I would like to attach this PC to my rear projection tv (Sony KP-48S75) via an S-video cable and use this TV as the primary and only monitor for the system. At one point, I had Ubuntu 8.04 hacked onto this same hardware fulfilling this role decently. However, due to some carelessness on my part, the system became unstable and I decided to start anew (random crashes, lots of X freezes, dependency issues, screwing too much with my sources.list and so on). So, that said, I installed Xubuntu 9.10 on the PC and had it hooked up to both an LCD monitor and the TV via S-video. Upon boot, both outputs worked, though X only rendered on the LCD and not the TV. Thus, I dug and researched and found that by putting a bunch of xrandr commands into my gdm start script I could finagle the TV into displaying my output, mostly.
The commands I used to get the S-video out work (and, therefore, pasted into my /etc/gdm/Init/Default script) follow:
Code:
xrandr --output S-video --set load_detection 1
xrandr --output S-video --set tv_standard ntsc
xrandr --output S-video --set tv_horizontal_position -2
xrandr --addmode S-video 800x600
xrandr --output S-video --mode 800x600
xrandr --output S-video --rate 60
xrandr --output VGA-0 --off
You'll notice I do a few things in those commands. First, I set load_detection to 1 in hopes of enabling automatic S-video connection detection (this isn't working). The next interesting bit is my commanding the horizontal position. The reason I had to do this is, because, upon getting the S-video output to render, the picture rendered to the right-hand side of the screen, deprecating the furthermost bits (for instance, I cannot see the shutdown icon in the upper right hand corner). Setting the horizontal position to -2 allowed me to shift the display to the left a bit, but, to my surprise, the right hand side still deprecates and I am just left with a black column on the right hand side.
Question 2 has to do with the screen indexing. If I run a xrandr command with no options, I see VGA-0 indexed as Screen 0. I also see the S-video listed as disabled (even though I see it rendering on the TV right in front of me). Finally, I notice that, under the VGA-0 section, there is a screen size listed, as well as several resolution modes with many parameters following them (like 800x600 72.2*+ 75.0 .... some other stuff). However, under the S-video section all I see is one mode with one small bit after it (800x600 72.2*). This smacks of suspicion to me and makes me think it might be related to the right side of my screen being deprecated. My wager is that I need to tweak some modelines in the S-video output so that it is more in sync.
However, I do not know the syntax for modeline editing and, since the S-video screen isn't even detected, I am not sure I really can edit these options. Does anyone know why my S-video output would continue to be listed as disabled even when its running? Furthermore, can anyone tell me why no screen index is given to the S-video output (I only see screen 0 attached to VGA-0, no screen 1 for S-video)? I think I need the screen indexed properly in order to use the xvattr command later in order to allow xv overlays to function on the proper screen. Finally, I do have a xorg.conf file loaded in /etc/X11 that is mostly hacked together stuff I used trying to get this to work in the first place. Would this conflict with the xrandr setup? Which options override which?

I was so sure it must be easy to set up the file permissions like I want, but obviously it isn't. Here is what I want to have: I have a samba fileserver (only Windows clients connecting) with a common share. Everybody is supposed to be able to put files on the share, but no one should be able to delete files which do not belong to oneself. I want several users to put files in a common directory, so they need write access to the directory, right?
But all the same they should not be able to delete files from others. So they are not allowed to have write access to the directory, right? It all works fine with modifying etc. but still I can delete files I am not supposed to do. I learned already that permission to delete is bound to the permissions of the containing folder and that sticky bits might help. But either they don't or I didn't get it right until now.

This has been bugging me for quite a long time. I need to have a pptp connection to my university. I have tried to locate the error, but this has been a real trouble.
A little bit of history: My girlfriend had a laptop with M$ vista on it with a working PPTP connection. I had a laptop with Ubuntu, with which I couldn't get the PPTP working.
When my laptop crashed, I bought a new one on which I run a dual boot XP SP3 and Ubuntu. I also own a desktop (Dual M$ Win 7 / Ubuntu standard Karmic) and my girfriend also upgraded to Win 7.
Currently, the XP version is the only one on which I can get a connection. Both Ubuntu and the Win 7's give me a GRE proc 47 not received error. I know our router (a DAVOLINK DV2020) is notorious for not sending through GRE proc 47, but this either shouldn't be the case or it shouldn't matter, since I can make a perfect connection through the XP OS.
This is quite a handicap, since we both study at the university for which we require working VPN PPTP connections.

I downloaded the 10.10 desktop version. Everything seems to work fine except Firefox. Sure, I can get on, but getting out is something of a chore. Half the time the page freezes and won't allow me to try anything else.
I tried: Clicking on the red "X" = nothing
Right-clicking on the page and selecting "Back" = nothing
Right-clicking on the task bar and selecting "Close" = nothing
Restarting the computer = nothing
The only way to get out when that happens, is to hold down the "Power" button. I know it's not good for the computer, but being held hostage in Firefox is not good for my patience. Even that is a crap-shoot. Sometimes it boots back up fine, only to resume what happened before the power went out when I log back into Firefox. Sometimes it won't let me out until I scan back to the main page by using the arrows one page at a time. This kind of thing never happened when I had the 9.04.

CLI upgrades and installations work just fine, as does Synaptic, etc. When I open Update Manager, it checks for new updates just fine, also, but when I click "Install," and the authentication window pops up, there is no field to enter the password. Closing out and retrying later, the authentication window pops up (again, without a password field), shakes back and forth rapidly, and disappears. The same thing happens with the software center. No error messages or anything with either of them, though.I've tried reinstalling the update manager from Synaptic, but to no avail.I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit (with the server kernel, because for some reason VirtualBox seemed to want it)

On my Acer netbook (AOA-150-1635) the wireless works fine with WinXP, Ubuntu, and used to work with Suse 11.1. I replaced the Suse 11.1 with a clean network install of Suse 11.2. I couldn't get the wireless to work and did another network install using the wireless. When the install was completed I could not get the wireless to work with Suse 11.2. When I run the "collectNWData.sh" it shows--
!!! CND0120E: Network card wlan0 has no IP address
wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down
[code].....
I looked up error CD0120E and changed the network devices setup to "traditional". The wireless "scan" picked up the routers and I added the encryption keys. Still no joy. I ran "collectNWData.sh" again and it said it is better to use the Network Manager.
!!! CND0180I: The system can't ping external IP address 195.135.220.3
!!! CND0150E: There might be a problem with the default gateway definition 10.1.1.1 on interface eth0
[code]....
Going back to Yast, Network Devices, I set Network Manager. The result is that it is back to the beginning with "collectNWData.sh" giving the original error.

I have wubi Kubuntu installed and had no problems with wireless at home. Starbucks uses the Bell network for free wireless access, and in Windows I can use it without problems. It is the typical free network, that immediately asks you for a login name when you try to use a web browser. When I do it in Ubuntu at Starbucks, it sees the network and "activates" it, but when I go to Firefox, it does not ask for the typical login information. It can't find any web pages at all.

Is there a backport of some sort that i should install? The fixes I've found all point to editing the xorg.conf file, but of course, Karmic doesn't have an xorg.conf file.I've tried reinstalling the Compiz files, reinstalled the open-source video drivers, installed/uninstalled fglrx drivers a few times, rebooted dozens of times.
