Ubuntu :: Firefox Error : INSERT Command Denied To User ?
May 31, 2010
Firefox seems to suddenly dislike one of the groups i belong too, whenever i try to access it I get the following message,
Database Error: INSERT command denied to user 'usingle_210259_1'@'linweb14.atlas.pipex.net' for table 'smf_log_online'
File: /websites/LinuxPackage02/si/ng/le/singlewithkids.co.uk/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 2602
Is this a server error, or is it my system? I have tried using a different theme but I still get the same error.I'm using the gnome classic theme ATM.
I have been following this guide to install Apache, PHP & mysql - [URL]. When I get up to the step 'mysql -u root' I get given this error: Code: tom@tom-laptop:~$ mysql -u root ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) How do I overcome this?
I am using Ubuntu server edition 10.04.1 running in Vmware server 2.02.I am connect via Putty so I can use copy and paste. My first goal is configuring a ftp server using PureFtpd using this guide. In section 10 I need to write this command
for some reason root lost grant privileges and I can't get it back. The user got grant_priv = 'Y' in the usertable. I've tried to reset all the priviliges to the user by killing MySQL process and started up again without grant options with no luck. I've also tried lots of other things but can't seem to get it work. Here is what I get: Quote:
[root@xxxxxxxxx mysqldba]# mysql -p Enter password: Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or g. Your MySQL connection id is 2 Server version: 5.0.77 Source distribution
I need to get an old MySQL Client(4.1)to connect to an even older MySQL Server (3.23).The goal is to do a Java/JDBC connect to the old Linux/MySQL 3.23 database, in order to update text information for a Lucene search (which will also run on linuxdev2). The problem is that I can't connect to the Linux/MySQL 3.23 server from a remote Linux/MySql 4.1 client. I can't connect from JDBC; I can't connect from "mysql":
Code:
LOCAL (intranet): mysql -uSOMEUSER -pSOMEPASSWORD mysql => OK REMOTE (from linuxdev2): mysql -uSOMEUSER -pSOMEPASSWORD -hintranet mysql => FAILS: ERROR 1045 (00000): Access denied for user: 'SOMEUSER@linuxdev2' (Using password: YES)
I set up a servber on my local machine, & also PHp - Both working fine.I'm trying to load up MYSQL i have installed it, & *can* start/stop the server. however if I do anything else with it, I get this error :-
Quote:
root@gordon-desktop:~# sudo mysqladmin -u root -h localhost password MYPASSWORD mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)'
Query :-
1) How do I know MYSQL is actually active ? (apart from the message it says that its statrted (or stopped).
2) Is there a way to
a) Find out the usernames that are recorded on the MYSQL server ? b) set / RESET the 'root' username (I know MYSQL root user is different to PC root user) c) anything else I can do on the PHP / website code to see if MYSQL is working
(as yet, no tables / databases etc have been set up - as I can't get past this error message - I get the same error when setting up a database.)
Ps I did allow my usermname (when logged in to ubuntu) to edit / create files in the /usr/www/ directory (but it is still OWNED by 'root' - that directory)
Is there a easy program that uses a GUI or am I going to need to do this from the terminal, either way I don't care I just need to be pointed in the right direction. I installed the 7zip package and started using it in the terminal but I can't figure out how to insert a password into my command. 7z x <package> [LOCATION] ?
I have finally gotten Samba working! Turns out there was no domain set, even though I remember setting it during the install process...hich brings me to yet another question... Now that I have a mount command that works, how do I insert this such that it is run during the boot process? I want to automount a few Samba shares. Is this a good idea?If not why not? If so, where do I edit to add the mount command?
i try do modify BASHRC and ENVIRONMENT files on directory ETCthen all the command don't work, such as:SUDO, GEDIT, NAUTILUS, NANO and some others!now i want to edit the 2 files and delete the insert lines
Gives error message permission denied. I've seen this in your forums but I still haven't found the fix. I've tried the latest release Wubi downloader too. This one is ran from a CD. Version 10.04
Cannot seem to use my mysql password, keep getting the error "Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)" So I tried checking my password using mysql -u root -p and I get the same error as above. I've tried accessing mysql with skip grant tables disabling the need for a password so I could reset my root password. After going through the necessary steps I still get the error above when typing my password in for mysql.

I am in the process of setting up a new server (Debian - Lenny - now updated to Squeeze) and every things were going fine. But unfortunately from today , whenever a user login to ftp, it says

One of my friends has installed ubuntu a day ago, when he installed it his portable hard-drive was attached to the PC .He is not sure whether he has installed ubuntu on portable drive or not,but now he not able to login into any of the OS on his machine until and unless he insert his portable drive, what could be the reason and what is the solution(his regular harddrive contains XP)
I've done a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04 and tried to create a folder using the File Brower went to my user account and proceeded to create a directory. Then when trying to cp a file to this new directory I get permission denied. I checked the directory permissions and discovered that its owner was root not the user that I was signed in as.
So I had no choice but to enable the root account so I could copy the file I wanted. Why could I not have copied the file using the user that I was signed/logged int as without resorting to changing users to root. I hope that its not a bug of some kind or maybe I did something weird during the install. I would like to disable the root account again.
I have windows XP in my system. i am going to install Fedora 11 in my system and use free space. i have 40GB free space but after installing all things when machine reboots. it gives error :insert Boot media.

I use a SLES-machine (should be similar to opensuse I guess) and ad AIX-machine and got the following error:
Every time a none-root user runs an "at"-command on the linux machine, there is an error written into the errorreport of the AIX-machine. the error is the following: <82>Jul 12 22:32:09 linux-hostname atd[10754]: PAM audit_log_user_message() failed: Operation not permitted
I already checked the files /etc/at.deny (exists with users listed like "alias, backup, bin, ..." but not the user that causes the error-message) and /etc/at.allow (which does not exist but is not necessary, as far as I could read from the internet).
I have configured samba server. My requirement was that the path which i have to share was /srv/www/htdocs.With this the shared path for developer user was /srv/www/htdocs/projects.
So in the smb.conf file i made the entries as following:
After that root user was able login to both /srv/www/htdocs and also project folder and developer was only able to login to projects folder. That was according to my requirement but now the problem is that when developer is trying to edit any file in projects folder he is getting error that you dont have permissions to change this file. But developer should be able to edit any files. What changes i need to do now.
I'm using ubuntu,i have a bin file under my /usr/bin, if i run the command under root user i'm getting no problem an it works fine,if i try it in with differnent user im getting
