Ubuntu :: Flashgot Does Not Seem To Be Able To Launch JDownloader Automatically?
Oct 23, 2010
like many other users, I am experiencing a small problem when using the Firefox extension Flashgot with the Java download manager JDownloader. Flashgot does not seem to be able to launch JDownloader automatically. I have already posted this in a thred on another forum, withouth results. I suspect that security issues are the reason why JDownloader cannot start.
How can I turn off specific authentications? I don't want to have to authenticate every time I mount a different drive (in a different partition). (Because I can't open Mozilla, since it pulls a profile from that partition, without authenticating; and I want to have Mozilla automatically launch on startup, but it can't launch if I need to type my password to gain access to the drive first!).
I'm trying to set up the Alarm Clock app to automatically launch Rhythm Box and begin playing a specific internet play lists I have there. I have one template set up to launch Pandora and I could probably get it to launch Rhythm Box but, how do I get it to launch Rhythm Box and begin playing a certain radio station playlist?
I'm using 11.04 with the old panels, no side panel. For some reason gnome-panel doesn't launch automatically so I have to do it via terminal, which means I have to keep the terminal tab open if I want to keep my panels.
Adding it to startup programs resulted in invisible panels (Cannot register the panel shell: there is already one running.), which I bypassed by typing gnome-panel --replace. I would like a permanent solution though..
I am running ubuntu linux.I use flashgot add-on with firefox. When I download a file , I choose wget with the help of flashgot. When flashgot starts download with wget ,xterm opens and the download starts. So I can't copy the download link. With lxterminal , gnome-terminal or rox-term it's possible to copy the download link but xterm has poor quality and it's not possible to copy anything from it.So, please tell me how I can use lxteminal or gnome-terminal with flashgot to download a file so that I can copy the download link.
Does anyone use flashgot and a download manager to download media, like ..... clips? I've never been able to get this to work with anything other than the built-in downloader and wget. I'd like to get a download manager working so I can schedule and manage multiple downloads. My ISP gives me a mere 250mb a day, but I get free bandwidth between 2am-7am
i want a downloader so that when i save wiki saves for me all the links in the wiki page, i have worked with flashgot but it is not proper and does not work properly.
i downloaded java then jdownloader and it work fine and today when i open ubuntu i didn't find how to open jdownloadercan any one tell me from where i can open jdownloader
I have an Internet connection with a Webstar cablemodem by Scientific-Atlanta Inc. DCP2100 series.I'm running an unstable distribution of Debian with the 2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel.I have installed JDownloader and works great, but I couldn't configure the reconnection features. What I need is a simple executable to run a script to change my IP adress, if possible. An specific tutorial could just be great for me to learn. And if you can't do this in linux as well as in XP, I'd really appreciate to inform me about it.
I Love Jdownloader program but can't solve this old problem.
I'm still a little retard with GNU/Linux
Able to do a reconnect by running the following commands

This is the script I'm using.

It resembles this one in Window$
The program dhcpcd requires root user privileges.
Avahi daemon and network-manager widget should be disabled or uninstalled for this to work on Ubuntu.
Also I'm using Karmic.
I'm not Cisco certified. What I think it does, in a non technical comparison, is tell the ISP hardware that your ip should be 190.189.48.52 or whatever number you like.
For the ISP this would be the last lease you used.
The ISP hardware does not recognize this last lease in its list, so it assigns a new ip.
That does the trick and you get your new ip!
My ISP promotes the service with dynamic ip so no legal matters here.
The problem is how to automatize it.
Sudo runs the script with no privileges problems.
I am able to run it password-less by modifying sudoers file via visudo command.
I add the following line

It can also be like (this would need extra security measures?)
Quote:
Then you can run sudo /usr/bin/cambiar-ip and it won't prompt you for a password.
Password issues solved, I cannot get Jdownloader to run it.
In the Settings > Reconnection tab
Tried to use "External" and "Batch" but i get reconnection failed sad face.
I've tried in "External" /usr/bin/sudo /usr/bin/cambiar-ip
It won't work.
I'm missing something of the Unix security structure.
I have the following spec: - Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86Ghz - 4GB Ram - 1TB Hard Disk - 256MB Nvidia GeForce Graphics Card
I believe my system is quite fast, yet programs like JDownloader and Vuze (aka azureus) are very slow. More so on the GUI side, not so much program functionality (although I have not tested this either). If I scroll down a list of items, it takes ages, it lags and response time is quite bad. Also, I have two java processes running, each using 200MB of memory. I am assuming one is for Vuze and the other is for Jdownloader. It seems to me that Windows XP/Windows 7 ran java applications much faster and had less ram. I definitely see that with Vuze as it never went into the 200MB area when under windows.
I installed two programs recently, Vuze and JDownloader. Vuze seems to run perfectly fine and write to the /media/x directory. However JDownloader keeps saying "cannot write to location /media/x" or something like that. Only when i run it as sudo will it write to that location. So currently thats what I have done. But how do i make it so it runs without sudo and still can write to /media/x also, why is it that vuze has write permissions but jdownloader doesnt?
my jdownloader dosnt start after update. I use openSUSE 11.4Have yesterday chat with jdownloader support. Cant find the config file.I have to rename the config file in config.old
I need such a OS on a old system for mass downloading and experimenting downstairs. Also I would prefer if it doesn't require too much Linux know-how and is operable by my Windows 7 system via networking. It doesn't need to be compatible with TrueCrypt or JDownloader specifically if alternative software for it exists.
I'm quite close (I think...) for finishing my script to restart my Linksys WAG54G2 router.First thing was to create a script for JDownloader. It has an option to launch router config page while JDownloader is logging operations and automatically create a script:
I am having trouble getting grub to automatically boot into ubuntu server. When I turn on my server the grub menu shows up and shows me the choices. They all work fine except that grub wont automatically select one. This wouldn't be too much of a problem but this is a headless server and I can't boot into ubuntu without a keyboard. I tried looking through the grub 2 documentation but nothing seemed to work when I edited the conf file.
what to do for lock automatically slackware 13 if not used for n minutes ?What can i do to start automatically the ktorrent (a bittorrent program for linux) on system starts on slackware 13 ?
how do I uninstall Java? Tried with Synaptic and apt-get remove, but uninstalling sun-java6 automatically adds default-jre (openjdk) and uninstalling openJdk automatically installs sun-java ... but I don't want ANY Java on my machine - am I missing something? Already thought I maybe have a package that requires SOME kind of Java, but how do I find out?
I have been using ubuntu since 10.04 version and configure with compiz to activate the corners, cube, etc. No problems with that. When I upgraded to 11.04 these things were not working but honestly I did not care that much and was just playing with compiz, so I was playing with an option in compiz about the size of the icons in the new 11.04 launch bar, just when I clicked it my top bar and launch bar are gone and not coming back after rebooting many times. BTW I already uninstalled compiz via terminal and the same problem is happening, maybe important for you to know (alt+f2 or other shortcuts not working except for ctr+alt+t)
I am attempting to use tomboy and it does not launch giving me the following: Code: ~$ tomboy
(/usr/lib/tomboy/Tomboy.exe:3602): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times (/usr/lib/tomboy/Tomboy.exe:3602): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times [INFO]: Initializing Mono.Addins

installing all the packages again without comment or error, but the problem persists with exactly the same error as above.
I installed it yesterday. It worked well. I was able to log into windows without any trouble and restart into Ubuntu without a hitch.
This morning I launched Ubuntu as usual vi GRUB. I was asked to install about 135 upgrade files, which went withou an apparent challenges. I then went through the restart and noticed that there was an extra two choices in GRUB, but I just left it to launch Ubuntu automatically. Which it did.
I then messed about with the appearance settings. Noticed a some more updates were waiting which included 49 files. I went through the updating process and restart. GRUB worked well, and I was soon loggin in with username and password.
The Ubuntu Screen became visible with the flashing horizontal line and about 3 seconds later everything froze. I waited for several minutes - I timed them - but still no progress - everything remained frozen.
I switched off the machine completely, as I knew of no other way to get out of this situation. I rebooted and when GrUB launched I booted into windows 7 with absolutely no problems.
I used restart in windows and then allowed GRUB to boot into Ubuntu. Once more I was able to log in but soon after the Ubuntu Screen appeared and the horizontal line flashed for a few seconds, everything froze. This time I waited five minutes before switching off the machine by disconnecting at the mains.
I am running Kubuntu 10.04 and i want to make some icons on the desktop to launch various telnet sessions. So i make a .sh using vi test.sh and then put in telnet 180.9.x.xx and save and quit. Then i chmod 777 it to make it executable and then moved it to my Desktop folder. But when i double click or right click and open with konsole nothing happens. I know it is probably something stupid which i have overlooked but when i have done this in Ubuntu in the past it has worked.
I have an acer aspire one. I had iPC osx86 10.5.6 installed on it. then I installed ubuntu 10.04.1 and now i cant get OSX to start up. OSx shows up in grub but when i select it i just get a blank screen.
I downloaded the current version of Sigil 64bit from Google Code https://code.google.com/p/sigil/ and it is just not working. Whenever I try to launch it the screen appears for less than a second and then vanishes. Does anybody know how to fix this?
