I didn't delete the whole panel, but just the bit where it shows icons of currently running programs. So now when Ktorrent, Kalarm or Desktop Drapes are running I can't see their icons on the panel and I can't find how to add the thing I've deleted from the "Add to Panel" menu. Anyone know how to get it back?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was playing around with the default panel that has the power icon (wrong lingo maybe) and the network/sound icons, etc.I deleted some items including the power icon and now for the life of me can't find it in the panel applets list in lubuntu.Is there a way to restore the default panel with the settings as when I first installed lubuntu.I also played with some spacings and other settings so would rather just get it back to normal/restore it vs add all the items back on and then play with the spacings again.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was trying to delete a printer software package and some how managed to do away with part of my system.Guess I clicked on something I shouldn't have.Before I realized what was going on about a page of deleting this and that zipped by before I aborted.Is there a way of finding out what was deleted so I can put it back together?The stuff in my home folder is still intact, so if I have to do a new install it's no biggy.Just hoping I wouldn't have to.Had to reinstall dolphin just to see that the home folder was still there and intact.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up an Ubuntu Computer Lab at my kids' school, and am trying to find a way to lock certain icons to the desktop. For example, I need each user to have Firefox on the desktop, and not be able to delete it. I've tried doing a chown on the Firefox shortcut and changing ownership to root, or to myself, but the student account can still just delete it with no problems. I've also tried using Sabayon, and while it does bring the shortcut back at each logon, it's not "Marked as Trusted" which is an annoying constant popup.How can I ensure that when logged on, each user will have a Firefox shortcut, along with a couple other mandatory ones? Some logon script maybe?
View 6 Replies View Relatedafter upgrading to Natty (and playing around some with Unity) I noticed that the top part of the application windows are often hidden/covered by the gnome panel (see attachments).
This is particularly annoying for the rdesktop session (second jpg) which I had set up so that it gave maximum desktop size to the rdp session while leaving the panel of top. If you look carefully you see that the "panel gap" is not at the bottom of the screen, while the panel itself covers the top of the rdp window.
It seems like, that the 'anchor point' for application windows used to be '+0+24' (so just below the panel) while now it's '+0+0' in the top left corner of the desktop. I suspect that while playing with unity I reset one of the compiz options which takes care of this. But I can't find it.
when i try to resize the panel on kubuntu part of it turns black, is this some kind of bug? i already installed all the updates. i leave some pics so you can see how it looks when its fully resized. by the way how do i install the nvidia drivers? in Ubuntu a window pops up and tells you to install them, but here in Kubuntu i haven't got any message...

At the top there is a bar that goes all the way across and it will not go away. I can't click on it to remove it. I reset gnome and it still stayed. The weird part is that it only stays on Desktop1 but not on 2,3, and 4. How do I get rid of this because it is annoying?

The integration of social networking from the top panel was one of my fav features however my niece got hold of my laptop and deleted it and I cant figure out how to restore it along with all of the features. View 6 Replies View RelatedI followed some badly-spelled online instructions to get rid of the last panel (because I'm using Avant Window Navigator instead), which had me do this: Ok some people realize that the gnome panel in ubuntu is very annoying and if your like me you dont want it there anymore, so you wnat to get rid of it (only suggested if you have something like AWN ), ok first push alt+f2, then in that type gconf-editor inside of it. Now in that a box should apear. Click on apps, thenGnome, then session, then required sessions. Then there should be a file called gnome -panel right click it then choose edit, then make it empty. then save it press ctrl+alt+delete, then it should not be there but if it is run killallgnome-panel, and to run it again type in gnome-panel. I did it, and now I cannot startup. ( I just get a 'busy' cursor on a blank screen.)
