OpenSUSE Network :: NetworkManager Deletes Default Route

Jul 11, 2010

I'm currently struggling with the following problem: Connecting to a wired network with NetworkManager (0.7.1) is no problem at all: Everything is set up automatically, including the default route:

[Code]....

When I now add the route manually it works. But as soon as the cable is plugged in, the NetworkManager overwrites the routing table entry again (which makes it quite annoying). Does anyone know a way to avoid this behaviour?

OpenSUSE :: Javascript Broken In Chromium?

Jan 9, 2011

i think something has broken javascript in my chromium installation. I've tried updating chromium and reinstalling/updating my java installation. Neither of these has helped. To give you an idea of the behavior I'm seeing this page does not have buttons, but pictures of all the buttons. Clicking them does nothing. Also, gmail's regular interface will not load. Functionality seems entirely normal (so far) in firefox.

Ubuntu :: Chromium Will Not Become Default Browser?

May 19, 2011

So I've been poking around google and trying to figure out if there's an answer - or at least a semi-solution to this problem, and have come up with nothing. I've just recently installed Chromium and since I've had it on my Windows 7 install, I'm trying to set it as my default browser, but for some reason it doesn't seem to stay my default browser.

Opening and closing it seems to erase the setting as it always tells me that "Chromium is not your default browser, would you like to make it your default?" And I don't know why.

Ubuntu :: Make Nautilus Search In Current Directory By Default

I work on Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome.When I open a directory, I can search with Ctrl-f (edited Ctrl-F instead of F3). However, the search starts in my home directory (the home directory is the default). That can be fixed by adding new criteria in the search results. However, I would like to change the default directory always to the directory or folder from which I start the search.How can I convince Nautilus to search by default for files and folder names in the current directory or folder (the one from which I start searching)?

General :: Change The Default System JVM Search Order?

Jan 25, 2011

I have installed java-6-sun on my Ubuntu 9.10 and now I wanna change the default system JVM search order. Based on the following instruction I should modify my /etc/jvm.

But there is no jvm in my Ubuntu, all I have is jvm.* which "*" refers to ".h" or other suffix. There is no "jvm" alone in my Ubuntu in order to do what the following says.

Setup the default Java version

Ubuntu Linux comes with update-java-alternatives utility to updates all alternatives
belonging to one runtime or development kit for the Java language. To select, Sun's JVM as provided in Ubuntu 7.10, enter:

$ sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-6-sun

You also need to edit a file called /etc/jvm This file defines the default system JVM search order. Each JVM should list their JAVA_HOME compatible directory in this file. The default system JVM is the first one available from top to bottom. Open /etc/jvm

$ sudo vi /etc/jvm

Make sure /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun is added to the top of JVM list

/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun

Software :: Custom Built GCC - Default Search Path For Stdlib

Jun 15, 2011

I've just built gcc 4.6.0 by myself since there is no update in Mandriva yet and I really needed the updated version, but I must be missing something in its configuration. I added ~/apps/gcc460/bin in front of my PATH, and the lib dir to my LD_LIBRARY_PATH in my .bash_profile, like so:

Code:
PATH=$HOME/apps/gcc460/bin:$PATH:$HOME/apps/bin
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/home/duckz/apps/intel/composerxe-2011.4.191/lib/intel64/:/home/duckz/apps/gcc460/lib/
LD_RUN_PATH=/home/duckz/apps/intel/composerxe-2011.4.191/lib/intel64/:/home/duckz/apps/gcc460/lib/
export PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export LD_RUN_PATH

I still have gcc 4.4.2 installed, but it's now hidden, so gcc --version correctly yields 4.6.0. I finally tried to build my project, all went fine, but at the moment of running it I get:
Code:
./EugGame.Release.Linux: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by ./EugGame.Release.Linux)

I assume the correct version is the one located in ~/apps/gcc460/lib, but how do I make my project load the correct lib? Is it possible at all to have two versions of gcc on the same machine? I just found that I should've added lib64 to my LD_LIBRARY_PATH instead of lib. Anyways, even if the problem is solved, I'd like to hear if my configuration is well made or if I should leave LD_LIBRARY_PATH unset and use some other way to override the default search path for stdlib.

Ubuntu :: Chromium Application Shortcuts In Unity - Not Including Most Of Chromium's Toolbars

May 2, 2011

I often use the option in Chromium to create 'application shortcuts'. These are instances of Chromium that make a website look more like an app by not including most of Chromium's toolbars. I use it for gmail and google docs and spreadsheets and calendar. In 11.04 I have set up Desktop launchers and copied them across to the Launcher (what an odd way to add something to the launcher, why no right-click 'add launcher' option?)

The problem is that the launcher thinks all these apps are chromium (which they are really, but I would like them to be seen as separate apps). If I minimize my gmail window, a little triangle appears next to the chromium icon, not the gmail icon. To get the window back, I have to click on the Chromium icon. Clicking on the gmail icon launches a new instance of it (also tied to the Chromium icon).

General :: Web Searches Cannot Locate Way Of Specifying 'each File In Current Directory'

Mar 23, 2011

I have several directories of subtitles for some videos, but all the text for the subtitles in each file is in uppercase, and I would like to convert the files' content to lowercase, all in one go. I found on a website a bash command that would do each file separately:tr '[:upper:]' '[:lower:]' <input.txt> output.txt but of course involves specifying the input name and output name for each file.I have been trying to do it in a script that would work for all files in the current directory, without having to rename them each time, if that's possible. So far I've got the following, which doesn't work:

#!/bin/bash
for file in $@; do
tr '[:upper:]' '[:lower:]'
done

However, my web searches cannot locate a way of specifying "each file in current directory" in conjunction with the "tr" command, but also without having to rename the file once converted to lowercase. Is it possible, or would the tr command have to create a new file for each converted file?
