Jan 5, 2010I plug a CD in of any kind, even my flash drive, but i cant get virtual box to read it, is there any way that i can do this.

Slackware :: Virtual Terminal From X The Writing Is Too Dim To Read
Feb 19, 2010When I try to go to a virtual terminal from X the writing is too dim to read. When I boot to run level 3 all is fine, then I "startx" and use the gui. If I "ctrl-alt-F3" the printing on the screen is so dim that I can't see it. Is there a setting for this somewhere that I haven't found. Before installing Slackware 13-64 I ran Zenwalk for over a year and never had this problem.

Aug 23, 2009I have spent considerable hours searching forums and googling. I have yet to find out what "lm-sensors acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1:" is actually looking at. I have an Abit IP35 motherboard with Ubuntu 9.04 installed.
Here is the output from sensors:
Virtual Device Temp 1 keeps going up to 121 degrees and the computer shuts down. None of the others overheat. Also, my bios does not show my voltages to be set like it lists above. The bios in the motherboard is the latest from Abit.

Aug 25, 2009When I create virtual ethernet interface and do a ping -I <v_int> <host> the outgoing address is the one of the physical interface and NOT the virtual interface.Is there no chance that trafic will go out with virtual interface address??Incoming trafic is done well i.e. responds to the virtual interface have the virtual address.
My problem is that I have 2 modems and want to check both default gw behind the modems.
If I do a "normal" ping both are reachable over default route even the modem which is not the default route will not work because ping goes over the working modem.So I have 2 routing tables and want to route the virtual interface to one modem the other to the other modem

I have 2 virtual hosts (example1.com, example2.com). example1.com works but example2.com is sent to the index file of example1.com. I did some searching on google and it seems the problem might be with my /etc/hosts file.

I have a support email address set as support@hostname.com, which has 5 aliases associated; user1, user2, user3, user4, and user5. When an email is sent to support@hostname.com, all 5 users receive the email, just as planned. What I'm looking to do is when an email is sent to support@hostname.com to have it rotate through the members of the alias group. That way all members of the group get support emails evenly and not everybody all at once. Is this possible?

Sep 6, 2010Has anyone gotten XP Mode to work in Win 7- while Win 7 is running in VBox? Everything installs seemingly error free- XP Mode, and the two updates. I then start Win XP Mode. The computer goes through 25 minutes or so of setting up XP mode for 'first use'. At the end, a message appears: "Could not complete setup. Please try again". In Win7, I've removed XP Mode from Programs and Features, and reinstalled. No change.

Jun 5, 2011In the past I found some great help on this forum, so here goes. Bare with me because it's a long story. I'll try to be as complete as possible. I've installed and configured OpenLdap on a virtual machine with ip 192.168.39.134. I've added 2 users via LAM. In the ou WikiUsers and the domain is wiki.local.
I've then created another host with ip 192.168.39.133 with mediawiki installed on it. Then I added the extension LDAPAuthenthication. In the LdapAuthentication file I added this code (only the last paragraph is mine, I added the others to show it's location in the script):

I know I'm close because I can't register any new users or accounts on the mediawiki site. Although I could before I added the LDAP service. This is indeed all just to test and get to know how LDAP works. That's why it's all virtual in VMWare. I did not really configure anything on the LDAP, i just installed it and chose a domain (wiki.local).

Where can I manual state that I want 1280x1024 and 32bit reolution? I looked in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file; however, I was not sure what to change. I reviewed the same file on another machine, which is not in a Virtual issue, but the file only provied very generic entries, and did not have any detialed information that resembled 1280x1024 or 32 bit.

May 11, 2010i done some research and found out that it is possible to run virtual dj through wine. i downloaded the .exe file from the atomix virtual dj url (trial version) and tried to run it with wine. however i got the error non executable bit. i wanted to know if there is a way around this error because i read ubuntu doesnt WANT 3rd party programs because of malware but it does not say it is not possible. from what i understood about the executable bit error the program needs to be trusted and if i got it from the official website how much more trust is needed lol um maybe someone knows a "trusted" download link?
