Ubuntu :: Can't Get Apxs \ Set Up A Web Server With Mod_python Installed With Apache?
Oct 18, 2010
and I am trying to set up a web server with mod_python installed with apache. When I run the ./configure for mod_python it gives me an error saying that can't find apxs. I have Ubuntu server addition and Apache2
I'm trying to install mod_python on my Ubuntu 9.10 32 bit apache2 server. I have the module installed (via apt-get) and I know the module is loaded because the following appears in my log when I restart apache:
Code: [Fri Jul 23 15:00:51 2010] [notice] Graceful restart requested, doing restart PHP Deprecated: *Comments starting with '#' are deprecated in /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/mcrypt.ini on line 1 in Unknown on line 0 PHP Deprecated: *Comments starting with '#' are deprecated in /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/ming.ini on line 1 in Unknown on line 0
I am using vmware player, operating system is ubuntu. I have just installed the apache httpd-2.2.19. I am using the manual method. ./configure, make, make install. No error message.
When i run ubuntu, it gets into the terminal. From here, how do I know if my apache web server is properly installed?
End of my first week after using ubuntu. I have setup LAMP for the purposes of my own coding education, place to run php and python scripts.
LAMP seems to be setup fine and working - I even got php5 working with it - however I am having a lot more trouble getting python to work in much the same manner.
I have downloaded the mod_python from [URL], unzipped it, tried to run ./configure and it said apxs was not installed.
After some reading it turns out I had to remove some apache-fork something and install apache-devfork (please forgive lack of exact names).
After doing this the ./configure on mod_python passed the "finding apxs" test but then said it can't find apache2 at /sbin/apache2 and again aborted the configure.
I am trying to solve a problem where Apache stats aren't displaying correctly in Munin. I've ran through quite a bit of checks and tests regarding Munin setup, but I think my issue is related to Apache, but my skill set there is lacking.
first, system info: monitored server: CentOS 5.3 2.6.18-128.1.1.el5
I am upgrading my server and I have a lot of sites. Since I cannot take my server down for a few days, maybe a week until I manage to migrate all the sites to the new machine, I figured I could migrate them one by one. After migrating one, I would somehow tunnel the requests of that name virtual host to my internal machine. When everything is migrated, I would then switch the machines, update ip's and stuff and everything will work just fine.
However I cannot seem to find a way to do this tunneling. is this at all possible? If not, what alternatives do I have?
I'm doing some light web development, I installed php5 and apache on my laptop and read that when running apache your computer is technically a server and is thus vulnerable to computer wankery. I'm looking for advice on whether or not I should install a firewall or if I don't really need it. The work I'm doing is not a professional website, just a place for some experiments. All the info I found on the web was targeted to professional web-developers, not so much for amateurs like myself. What do you think?
The other day there were a number of updated needed on my server which I installed with yum (the software updater GUI). Now my websites are not coming up even on the server using http://localhost
I reviewed the info and found that httpd was updated to 2.2.3-45 and am suspecting that this is the cause of the issue. So my silly little question is how do I roll back this update?
I am running a vps with nginx as webserver. For some odd reason (I don't know if it was installed already) apache2 was running before nginx could start. After stopping apache2 nginx starts fine again. But, I want to completely remove apche2, but: root@vps2:~# apt-get --purge remove apache2* Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package apache2 is not installed, so not removed 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. root@vps2:~#

Apache2 is there and I can start it normally with /etc/init.d/apache2 start but I want it removed, how do I do that?
I have just installed a Virtual Machine with Debian. My goal is to set up a LAMP server to work with. I have installed Apache, PHP and MySQL, everything without any problems and following WIKIs.
Now, I have a problem, because I'm trying to work with folder within my /var/www folder. If I use the address http://192.168.1.103 in my Host computer's browser, I can see the "It works!" from Apache without a problem.
Now, if I try to see: http://192.168.1.103/test/ I can't see the index.html that is within the folder test that is on the path: /var/www/test Why is this? What do I need to do and keep this simple?
I haven't been able to get a working X11 environment on a Dell PowerEdge 1850. Using YaST without an X11 environment sucks particularly when you are trying to configure Apache. In addition, the Apache configuration files seem to have changed significantly since the last time I configured Apache on a SuSE Linux distribution. Where can I find good documentation on editing suseconfig files to ensure that I get the modules installed that I need for the collaboration tool that I'm installing?
i am trying to set up LAMP on an old pc i have installed linux, apache, mySQL and PHP following this guide Installing Apache2 With PHP5 And MySQL Support On OpenSUSE 11.3 (LAMP) | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials. i have installed phpMyAdmin but when i try and acess it i get this error
Error MySQL said: Cannot connect: invalid settings.
phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.
I wanted to remove apache and it worked but everytime it`s installed it comes with the old settings...and I want the default ones..I don`t know to manage an apache server but i`m learning! I tried these commands and not of then didn`t had any effect:
I am installing Big Brother on a CentOS 5.2 running the default Apache 2.2.3. When I try to access any web page I get the following error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /bb/ on this server. Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at fmsubbnix Port 80 So far I have:
1) Set the Directory options to FollowSymLinks 2) Verified all directory and file permissions are at 755 3) Set permissions temporarily to 777 and received same error so I am assuming the issue is in a config file somewhere 4) in hhtpd.conf verified <Files ~ "^.ht"> is correct 5) verified the "default" directory is correct (/var/www/html)
I have read and tried several ideas in posts listed on the web but to no avail and am at a loss as to what to look for next..
I'm running a linux cloud server with the following config 1.2ghz Processor allocation 752MB Ram
The site loads slow and clicking a link almost freezes the page for a second. Also, the page loads could be much faster. We've been running mysqltuner and have pretty much optimized all slow queries. Is there anything we can do to fine tune the server for faster and more responsive?

Webmin - Check, ftps-fileZilla - Check, Apache -It Works BUT I cant seam to set up Apache as a named server using Bind DSN. Tried most of the help in the fourms and ..... I think my problems is in the master server selection, do i have to use [URL]... or can i just use myservername. I have tryed both with no luck. First time with the server addition.
config my apache server to list all my files: c/c++, php, java files, like the txt file on my server, e.g /var/www/mydomain/pub i want to dump all my c/c++, php, java file under the pub directory and I can access it from my domain name, if I dump txt file, I have no problem to view it, but when I dump c/c++ or php files under pub directory, then I can't view it like regular txt file, Q: is there anyway I can configure my apache server to view all the c/C++, php, java file as like txt file?
I have install Mandriva 2009 and install apache server but its not strating on default configuration file . What I should do for starting apache . i have tried /etc/init.d/httpd start but apache is not running .
I installed Apache server with Debian 5.0.2 Lenny. I am trying to write a script which would analysis web log files. I found the log files on /var/log/apache2. There is an access log file, `access.log`. My question is what configuration file determines the location and the name of the access log file. How can I change them? I used CustomLog in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf like below.LogFormat ": %h %l %u %t "%r" %>s %b" common CustomLog /home/test/my_log_file common Apache2 generated /home/test/my_log_file. But no logs were written in the file even after I run `/etc/init.d/apache2 restart`. Ichanged the log file location. It still didn't work. However, Apache2 still wrote logs in the file `/var/log/apache2/access.log`
