when I activate caffeine with ubuntu 10.10 it stops all bubble notifications.Like for example I use radiotray and listen to it for a good length of time and when it changes stations or songs a bubble notification comes up. Lets say if I have caffeine activated to disable screensaver it stops all notifications but as soon as I disable it, it stops.

I like the bubble notifications when someone sends me a message.. but they're so slow. If someone sends me a lot of messages in one minute, they'll take a few minutes for a bubble with each message to popup.. and there's no way to close it and tell it to shut up..Is there anything I can do about this?

Is it possible? I was only able to disable the evolution notification at all, but that is not exactly what I want.
I installed Specto and created 2 watches. One for a gmail account, and one for a website. Both have changed since then but I have not received any notifications. There are no errors in the error log.I think this problem might have something to do with the fact that I altered the default Ubuntu 9.04 bars (long before installing Specto). I eliminated the top bar on the desktop. Would this somehow prevent Specto from functioning. Its logs indicate that it is doing its tasks, but I don't see the notifications.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis happens randomly after a reboot: I can move the mouse cursor and it works perfectly only on the Unity sidebar or whatever it's called. I can fire up applications, but once they're up they completely ignore any clicks or mouse movements (the main menu does not appear on the top bar if I move the cursor in the location that usually makes it appear). They only recognise a click on the close/iconize/maximize buttons.
The mouse works: as I said I can move the cursor and it recognises clicks on the sidebar and the window control buttons; plus, it's connected via a KVM switch both to the Linux box and to a Windows box (from which I'm writing this) and in Windows perfectly.The pattern used to be this: usually while running Firefox, the mouse and keyboard stop responding, and sometimes the whole desktop graphics become corrupted. I can Alt+F1 and go to a text-mode console, but nothing short of a reboot "fixes" things. After the reboot, about two times out of five everything works, three times out of five I get the situation described above.
For the last few hours or so, however, no amount of rebooting and sacrificing goats to the gods protecting sociopaths and Linux software developers have been able to restore mouse functionality. I click on my username on the login windowhere it works perfectly), enter the password and then only the Unity sidebar works: again, the mouse cursor moves, only clicks (right and left) are ignored, as are hotspots. In ubuntu classic there is no place where I can click and launch applications, btw - once I get in I'm basically blocked and can't do anything
Because screensaver gets on my movie watching, I decided to install caffeine on my Kubuntu 10.10. The problem is I can't get it to work. Caffeine preferences is present in my menu but I if i click on that menu there is no reaction whatsoever. How will I proceed with troubleshooting?

Ever since, the notification bubble keeps showing misplaced as in the attached picture. I tried reinstalling the notify-osd package but to no avail. I looked around and found that you cannot customize anything about this bubble.

So one of us makes a new wireless connection, the other connects to it, but we observed this: When the creator of the wifi network opens the game and tries to start the multiplayer, it says that it cannot connect to the server. How can i hide the bubble with username in the upper bar, right hand? It is linked to the shutdown icon but i want to keep that icon but hide the bubble with the name of the user.
I was searching but i didn't find anything, only how to hide all the mini-applet session (shutdown icon included).

i am using the latest version of Debian Squeeze. everything is up to date but the pidgin program doesn't display the notification icons in the top right corner like it's supposed to, whats the problem here because i don't like to manually check to see who has logged and who has logged off.

I have updated to current as of Jan 2 but I'm not really sure when the problem started since I only play with frozen-bubble sometimes.
Will rebuilding fronzen-bubble solve it? Haven't tried it yet as of now.
I've got a strange problem: when I run Frozen Bubble from my user account, I get no sound, but the same game has sound with my wife's account and the root account.
EDITED TO ADD: My user account has sound for DVDs through Kaffeine, Mplayer, etc. And the system sounds are working just find.
In my top right corner I got all my Ubuntu appindicators that come with Ubuntu 11.04. I also have Dropbox, caffeine and screenlets. Problem is that I cant click on dropbox, caffeine, battery indicator, wlan or sound indicator until I first click on messages menu and slide over to appindicator that I need. When screenlets appindicator is not present there is no problem. Its the same when I had Jupiter installed.

Have had it installed and Acer Veriton for a while but after last yum update it now hangs on the blue screen with the F bubble in the middle. I can login remotely OK but am not sure what to look for. It seems to be something X11 related but I'm not sure. I would post the relevant logs but am not sure which ones are associated with this problem.

Everything has been working just fine until this morning when I booted up the computer and it hung at the blue screen with the F bubble in the middle. Firefox randomly throws up errors like "Problem loading page" whenever I click on a hyperlink. When I click on Reload, the page loads up just fine. This has been happening a lot recently..and I do not remember updating anything consciously. By the way, ipv6 is disabled in Firefox.2. The network stops working all of a sudden (usually indicated by the Firefox error). The Autho Eth0 indication is active, but I am unable to connect to any external machine.

Sometime after I upgraded to ubuntu 9.10 I've been having trouble with my wireless network connection.It will usually log on to the network, then disconnect a shortly after. Then try to connect again, usually successfully, then it cuts off again. Then connects again, then disconnects. FWIW, ubuntu 9.10 works on a different machine pretty consistently, so I don't think its a problem with the router.

a)When pidgin notifies you that you have a new message can you "save" that notification?
b)When transmission informs you that a torrent finished downloading can you log that notification?
Or if you can't log them can you make a script that "catches" those notifications? What I want to do is that when a certain notification pops it triggers an app or a script. So if I can log the notifications I can "watch" for changes in the log file and trigger something; or if can "catch" the notification I could also do that. I think it can, somehow, be done with d-bus but I can't find my way around the documentation.
