Just installed 10.10 on my desktop. It wont detect any usb mouse that i plug in. I have tried 5. I dont know any commands to use to enable this. I also dont know how to use ubuntu without a mouse.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have run into a problem with a existing workstation I can't seem to figure out. My configuration:Ubuntu 10.10 64 ASUS M2N68-AM Plus MB w/ Nvidia Geforce 7025 graphics.Has been running for almost exactly one year beautifully. System suddenly froze. When I rebooted, system stopped with message saying it could not detect graphics or KB or mouse. I suspected hardware failure but when I booted from live CD, It ran fine. I then ran e2fsck -c and found no bad blocks but 1 messed up inode which it fixed.
I assume at this point the only problem is some lost configuration on video. I first tried apt-get nvidia drivers. this got rid of the message but now X will not start because of "no valid modes". Tried running nvidia-xconfig but it exits without changing anything.All user files seem to be OK. I'm not going to have to nuke this thing just to restore X am I?
I tried to do a clean install of Ubuntu 10.04, but when I get to the screen if I want to test or install Ubuntu, the keyboard and mouse (bluetooth) don't work. I tried to resync the peripherals, I disconnected usb connector base of the tower and putting it back but nothing works for me. I have a Logitech Desktop MX 5000 (Bluetooth).
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe've a Dell precision workstation installed with RHEL 4.7 and connected with wireless mouse and keyboard. There is a bluetooth dongle connected to the workstation which works fine for keyboard, but not mouse. I tried rebooting several times and try changing the battries of the mouse and even replaced with another wireless mouse, but still it wont detect the mouse under linux.It is a Dell mouse and keyboard. why it should works only with keyboard but not with the mouse, should I need any drivers to be loaded?Can someone please suggest how to fix this? I tried restarting bluetooth services and also run hci-tool but nothing works

I am running Vista on my C: drive and I just got Fedora 11. I planned to dual boot Vista and fedora 11. I Downloaded the Live CD from the site (680 +- MB) and burned the files IN the .iso file to an empty DVD and CD. Shrank my D: drive and now have about 27 GiB wort of unpartitioned space. I booted from the Live CD. everything went OK until i chose Boot from the Boot Menu that came up. First it took me to a screen with the following message:

Then when it reached the user login screen, I found that my mouse and keyboard were'nt responding and that there was no lights on any of the keys. I checked the USB cables and did a hard shutdown and booted from the Live CD again, but the problem persists.
I've installed Squeeze 2.6.32-5-amd64 on my laptop (Alienware M17X R3, Intel i7 Sandybridge, ATI Technologies Inc Broadway [ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6800 Series])The screen is 17", with maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080. After a default install of the operating system, the maximum resolution I can select is 1280 x 1024.My research so far has suggested that I need to edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and provide xorg with the necessary resolution.
Again, by default, the xorg.conf file is not created. This leads me to believe that xorg is scanning my hardware at startup and providing me with whatever it thinks is appropriate. I tried following these instructions to generate an xorg.conf file. This process created an xorg.conf file under /root/.
When I copy this xorg.conf file to /etc/X11, I get a blank (i.e. black) screen. Deleting this file restores the default resolution 1280 x 1024.This system is dual booting with Windows 7. Under windows I am able to get a 1920 x 1080 resolution, so I know my hardware is up to it.At this stage I have yet to install the drivers for the Radeon graphics card.What are my options regarding configuring xorg to give me a higher screen resolution?
I have a new F12 install, and my syslog is filling up with messages about USB. I have 2 USB devices plugged in directly to the mobo (bluetooth keyboard receiver, touchscreen), and it keeps redetecting them and then disabling the port for some reason.

I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my HP Pavilion a320n computer with a ps2 mouse and the mouse pointer points with the bottom of the mouse and not the upper tip of the point. It does the same thing with Ubuntu 10.04.1. In Windows 7 and XP the mouse is normal. I don't know how I could adjust it or is this just a bug in the OS?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have custom built Linux kernel (2.6.31) and also xorg. xorg is using xserver 1.7.3 . I have an application which simulates the mouse and sends mouse move events. When I switch the device on, the system boots and Xorg comes up, I can see X cursor on the system. When I start sending mouse move events from the application, the cursor do not move. If I attach mouse to the device and then move the mouse, from this point onwards the mouse events get detected from the simulation application. I have checked the dmesg log as follows

I have install fedora11 live and the mouse work well when installing.When you reboot the mouse works ok until the welcome screen apears then the mouse stops working and I cannot continue with the postinstall. I have a 1TB usb externalHD that I am installing fedora11 and have partitioned it so that I have 500Gb free for fedora, system is doucore 2.4,4gb RAm, I tryed doing this with three differend mice and connectting the mouse to different usb ports
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to FC14 (64) from FC13 (32) and the mouse middle button (simultaneous left+right button) paste function has stopped working. I tested it with 3 makes/models of different mice and trackballs. For some reason (left+right) mouse returns the same code as the single right-button ('xev' value = 3). This worked in all previous FC and RH distros I've used in the past. Did a default setting get zonked somewhere? System: Toshiba laptop w/ USB mouse.

So i asked for help, and everybody just say install windows. And where is fun in that. If people when ever run into problem with some software on linux just install windows. Linux would never go forward. I m not some great gamer, but i would like to be able to play this game. Probably somebody run into same problem. I'm running FC12 and GNOME.If I move the physical mouse about one inch, the mouse pointer moves across the entire screen.That's way too fast and way to sensitive.I prefer the mouse pointer to move far less distance on the screen when the physical mouse is moved.
From System->Preferences->Mouse, I set the various mouse Pointer Speed acceleration and Sensitivity to Slow, Fast, Low, High, and and I couldn't get it any better. At the least sensitive settings. if I move the physical mouse one inch, the mouse pointer moves across the entire screen.How can make the mouse pointer less sensitive to mouse movements?

When I move the mouse and then press and release the 'ctrl' key to show where the mouse pointer is the circle indicators are not where the pointer is. I therefore cannot make any selections from menus as 'lenny' thinks the mouse is somewhere other than where the pointer is. Also are there keyboard hot keys that i can use to access the menus?
View 1 Replies View Relatedjust want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.

Ok i have these speakers that are really nice, but Ubuntu only allows me to use them every once and a while, like 4/5 days of the week. If i plug the speakers in and turn the volume up i cant hear anything, but if i take the speakers out and plug my Zune into them i can hear the music. How do i fix this?

I could not connect to any wireless network on my laptop with ubuntu 9.10. Network manager detects all wireless networks avaliable, but could not connect to any of them. When I try to connect, system asks for wpa-key, but typing it gives no result. I tried home and office network, but it is the same. There is WinXP installed on the other disc partition and no problem with wireless connection at all.
I have Acer 3680 with broadcom wireless adapter 4318 (driver was installed via ndiswrapper). I've already spent hours, browsing the Internet, but it does not help unfortunately, so I'll appreciate any advice of experienced user.

As the Title states, "update-grub" does not detect the windows xp partition on /media/sda1. And, when I attempt to mount it from teminal nothing happens, and from nautilus I receive the following error: "Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 2:
