Software :: Scrolling In Opera - Displaying The Chopped Image

Jan 7, 2011

since a few updates of Opera, I'm experiencing very choppy scrolling, which is hugely annoying. It looks as if the page were chopped up and only pieces of it were scrolling, with parts of the former content still displayed. Now this happens generally during normal usage, with nothing but the browser running. CPU usage is thus minimal. The effect can be circumvented for a few seconds if I force the browser to scroll a large part of the screen at once (using the cursor keys), which has the effect of displaying the chopped immage as a still for a second, after which scrolling is perfectly fine.

This looks as though it was an issue of the processor speed being deregulated; alas, /proc/cpuinfo states both cores to be at their minimum speed in either circumstances. I'm not switching to Firefox, Opera is the only non-free piece of software I've come to love.

Server :: Image Not Displaying On Webpage?

Mar 15, 2011

I'm using the "Beginning PHP5, Apache, MySQL Web Development" book from WROX to teach myself these processes. I'm a retired programmer and trying to keep my brain active. I've been able to get through most of the process and get things to work. But getting a picture upload and then display it is killing me. The picture is moved from the initial directory and placed in the destination but will not show on the web page, I get a place holder and all the information about the picture, but no pic. The MySQL is processing all the database stuff .I haven't a clue what is not working, Firefox, Apache or what. I'm running Fedora 14.

Here is the code I'm using:

Code:

upload_image.php
<html>
<head>

Mar 10, 2011

I need some help in determining how to have a color splash image display in place of the Linux scrolling-text during the boot-up process on an embedded Linux device. The kernel used is a stripped-down version of Linux (kernel 2.6.29), which has been custom configured. I am using syslinux as the bootloader. I was told that Plymouth might be the way to go with this, but I'm not sure.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Edges Of Screen Chopped Off?

Apr 29, 2010

I'm using Lucid and trying to connect my box to my HDTV over HDMI. The only resolutions I have available are 1280x720 and 720x480, neither of which work. Obviously, 720x480 is way too small, and the other one results in the edges of my screen getting chopped off.

Where do I start on fixing this? I assume I need to set a custom resolution, but where the hell do I do that?

Ubuntu :: Play Some Fullscreen Games Such As Trackballs - Bottom Part Of The Game Gets "chopped Off"

Jun 29, 2010

When I play some fullscreen games such as Trackballs, the bottom part of the game gets "chopped off". If I choose not to play in fullscreen (via the game options), I can see the whole game.

I'm guessing this could be a bug in the nvidia graphics driver?

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit with the latest nvidia driver. I know it's a "closed source" driver, but it was the only one I was offered to install.

Ubuntu Security :: Mount The Image Or Extract The Image To Another Drive?

Feb 16, 2011

I was given a forensic Image which I now know is a DD image of the drive (Vista) and am trying to mount the image or extract the image to another drive. I'm not sure of the extention type or if the image is a partition or the entire drive. I think it is the entire drive.

Is it possible to mount a DD image to a device. If I can't do that I just want to extract the files to run some programs against the drive. Can I view the files under Ubuntu or do I have to remove the drive and stick it into a Vista computer.

I purchased a second drive today and was hoping the command line would be something simple.

Or am I on the wrong track, should I be doing this all in a windows environment. The reason I picked ubuntu was because of the reporting tools.

OpenSUSE :: Firefox Scrolling Out Of Control?

Nov 3, 2010

Using Firefox 3.6.10 on openSUSE 11.3 with kde desktop on T42 I am finding that I lose control of the scrolling function form time to time. The result is that if I click on the down arrow to go down from the top of a page, the window will scroll down to the bottom of page without stopping, even if I take pointer off the arrow.The reverse is also true if I am trying to go up from the bottom of a page. Great for very fast reader but not for me. Is this a problem anybody else has seen? For me it is new to 11.3 but there have been so many Firefox upgrades since I ran 11.2 I cannot determine precisely when it started

Ubuntu :: Firefox Key Scrolling Broken?

Mar 25, 2011

When I browse the Internet using Firefox, I often use the keyboard to scroll because it is quicker than using the mouse. Page-Up and Page-Down are useful; Home and End are especially useful to let me move instantly to the top or bottom of a long page.

However, for the past few days, these keys have not worked correctly.

When I press those keys, either nothing happens or the screen briefly flashes but stays where it is. On some pages, they also create a large vertical black bar that slowly flashes on the page.

I have started Firefox in Safe Mode and it does the same thing (see the screen-shot). So, it's not an add-on creating the problem.

Interestingly, the keys still work properly in Chromium.

How I can fix this Firefox problem?

My system:
Ubuntu Lucid 10.04, 64-bit, with all updates
Firefox 3.6.16

Ubuntu :: 11.04 Invert 2 Finger Scrolling?

Jun 26, 2011

I most recently ran a developer preview of os x 10.7 Lion, and in that OS two finger scrolling was inverted (ie, moving two fingers upward on the touchpad would scroll you down the page). I love that I didn't need any extra drivers to get two finger scrolling working with ubuntu 11.04 on my 3rd gen mac air, and am super impressed with all the out of the box drivers for my mac; but I'm wondering if there's a way to invert the two finger scrolling directions. There must be... It's probably technically involved and will necessitate modify x11 files or something, but I think there must be a way.
