Software :: Kmail Forwarding And Replying Error?
Mar 23, 2011
I have two mail accounts, a gmail and a gmx account (default). Kmail downloads emails from both mail services correctly. Kmail sends emails which I create from new. Kmail forwards and replys to emails arriving from gmx without issue. Kmail gives me and error:- The server did not accept the sender address "example.smith@gmail.com" The server responded:"5.7.0 Sender address does not belong to logged in user {mp-eu001}" when I try to reply or forward a messsage which came from gmail.

I am running opensuse11.4. When trying to forward emails I can only do so as attachment. When I click and hold to select the forward inline option I get an empty email - same as if I would have clicked new. The same happens when I place the inline button on to the toolbar. Is this a bug with Kmail or is there another setting to forward mail inline?

How do I know the reply was from caching-nameserver, master nameserver or slave nameserver in BIND DNS.? Can I trace the nameserver that replied my dns query? Like I have a master nameserver, a slave nameserver and a caching nameserver in my network. Is it possible to know that which of these servers replied my dns query? Also can i trace back that replying server exactly?

I want to ask about Kmail. I have Kmail from Mandriva. I use Kmail for My Email. And When I reply Message, I found some trouble.
Sending failed:
Unknown error code 50. The message content was not accepted.
The server responded: "5.7.1 Message refused by BannedWord check. This email has been rejected. The email message was detected as spam." Please send a full bug report at [URL]. The message will stay in the 'outbox' folder until you either fix the problem (e.g. a broken address) or remove the message from the 'outbox' folder. This transport protocol was used: smtp.net
How to solve this email error I get when I try to send email via KMail.

I have been using kmail on opensuse (11.2) for about 3 months with few issues. I usually launch using alt+F2, type "kma" and it appears top of the list. I have turned on my laptop today and kmail has simply disappeared. I have gone through the ghekko and the only mail client listed is thunderbird. It is not in the alt+F2 menu. If I type kmail in konsole I get the "if kmail is not a typo" speech. I've also tried using kontact (for the first time) to see if my mail appears there

- I setup port forwarding of openssh :
connect 1: ssh -g -f -p 11111 -i /<path-to-private-key> user1@ip-server1 -L 22222:ip-server1:161
- Then I setup second connection
connect 2: ssh -g -f -p 11111 -i /<path-to-private-key> user1@ip-server1 -L 22223:ip-server1:3306
- Openssh waring to me "bind: address already in use"
- So I think port 22223 have had another program use,I use command:
ps aux | grep ssh /* find process id of second connection */
kill -9 <process-id-second-connection>
netstat -an | grep 22223 /*find which program use port 22223> */
- but I can't find anywhat
- Then I run again command :
connect 2: ssh -g -f -p 11111 -i /<path-to-private-key> user1@ip-server1 -L 22223:ip-server1:3306
- And I receive a error from OpenSSH :" bind: address already in use"

I also had ever tried all methods they mentioned, but my problem is still there. I am using a MAC OS X 10.6 ssh a remote redhat server. I hope to see X of redhat on my own MAC. Below is what I've done: 'MAC_ip' stands for my mac; 'redhat_ip' stands for redhat server.
1) ssh to redhat server
2) change to root
3) type command: DISPLAY=MAC_ip:0.0
4) type command: export
5) Back to MAC
6) change to root
7) type command: xhost +Redhat_ip
8) vim /etc/ssh_config, add X11Forwarding yes
9) Back to redhat, type: xclock
I got below message: Error: Can't open display: MAC_ip:0.0 I also tried some methods to login as others suggested:

I have just set up shorewall on my router running Arch Linux. The external network is on eth0 and the internal network on eth1.I have set it up for masquerading and that works fine and I can open ports to the firewall. But I'm having trouble with port forwarding to my internal machines. The problem I have is that when port 22350 is forwarded to 192.168.1.3 on my local network, checking the port with nmap from a remote computer gives me:
Code:
PORT STATE SERVICE
22350/tcp closed unknown

When I use the following command:
ssh user@ssh_server -L 5500:localhost:5500 -p 22
everything works fine. I can log in, and local port forwarding is done. Otherwise when I use the command:
ssh user@ssh_server -R 5500:localhost:5500 -p 22
I get an error "remote port forwarding failed for listen port 5500". However when I try remote port forwarding in WinXP by use of putty there is no problem...

I have the following scenario that doesn't seem to work normally. I have a windows 7 pc from which I am using putty to connect to my other linux servers (all running redhat 5 and 6). So here is the scenario that works and one that does not work. And I'm trying to figure out the one that does not work. Scenario that works:
From windows 7 (putty) I ssh into Linux_Server_1.
echo $DISPLAY
localhost:10.0
I run xclock and I see it pop up on my windows 7 pc. I am using xming on windows 7 to help me populate the display from linux to windows. One that does not work:
From windows 7 (putty) I ssh into Linux_Server_1. Then from Linux_Server_1 I ssh into Linux_Server_2.
echo $DISPLAY
<no output>
I try to setup $DISPLAY with localhost:10.0 or 0.0 or even my windows 7 pc ip address:0.0 ....etc Then when I try to run xclock I doesn't work.
I get these error messages: Error: Can't open display: <ip of display>
Also as a side note all our Linux servers are sitting on one subnet. My pc is sitting on another subnet. I use vpn to connect to the subnet where the servers sit from my pc.

At last, I am serious converting from openSUSE/KDE3.5 to openSUSE 11.2/KDE 4. Being a bit retarded in this, the following must have been solved by many.
After starting Kmail in KDE 4 I managed to see all my mails. I also managed to get my filters moved from old to new (had to go back to 3.5 to export them first).
But I still fail to see how to copy my accounts/identities, etc. It is not done automaticaly, there is no export function I could find. How to manage this?
EDIT: must be 3.5 in the title. Done by a nice mod.

I find all this quite annoying. What could be the solution?

I am trying to configure Kmail with GPG. I followed steps described in [URL].
The official manual says:
Then click Modify > Advanced > OpenPGP Key
It will automatically go to the path of your gpgkey, that is ~/.gnupg
In reality: It does not automatically go anywhere, but provides a menu to change OpenPGP encryption key. When I click on the button to change my key it shows me a selection menu with my key in it. When I select it, the red cross appears on the icon near the key and the "OK" button remains grey, so I can not do anything. Did anybody try to configure Kmail with GPG? How do you configure Kmail to use your keys?

I have just installed Alien Bob's kde 4.4 packages as per his README instructions over a fresh install of current as of 31 Jan.
I can open a kde session but have problems with running kde applications. Non kde applications such as Firefox, Scanlite, Geany, Gopdit open fine but so far kde applications are hit or miss.
I could launch kmail but not others. Kwrite from quicklaunch gave me a "KDEInit could not launch /usr/bin/kwrite in a pop up but konqueror, dolphin, kcalc to name a few just don't launch with a click and leave no error messages.
I have tried running them from XFC's terminal and I get the following:
Quote:
bash-3.1$ dolphin
bash: /usr/bin/dolphin: cannot execute binary file
bash-3.1$ ls -l /usr/bin/dolphin
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 631240 2010-02-06 03:41 /usr/bin/dolphin

I have setup different identities in Kmail to deal with multiple gmail accounts so I have a different set of inbox, sent mail and draft folder for each account. In the message layout, I have chosen to display the columns - subject,sender/receiver and date. For one of my email accounts, kmail does the job perfectly. The inbox foler shows subject, sender and date, whereas the sent-mail folder shows subject, receiver and date. However, this order is not maintained for my other email accounts. The inbox folders show subject, sender and date(which is correct); the sent-mail folder shows subject, sender and date - instead of subject, receiver and date which is what should be displayed.

how to use kaddressbook groups in kmail?
I can create groups, but when I send an e-mail to one of these groups it is sent to group_name@localhost, which, obviously, is not what I want. Some versions back this worked perfectly, but now it seems that there is no way.
I use opensuse 11.1 with kde 4.4.1

In my recently installed openSUSE 11.4 system I am using Kwallet to store all of my private passwords and also those associated with my Kmail accounts. All of these passwords appear correctly in Kwallet, but it seems there is a problem with Kmail accessing them.Whenever I start a new session, Kmail loads first and is followed by Kwallet. When Kmail then tries to do its first mail retrieval it stops and asks for the account password. I type this in and then Kwallet requests its administrator password. Once I type this in, my mail is downloaded and I get no further request for the passwords during that session.
The same thing happens when I attempt to send my first email of the day. I get a Kmail request for the SMTP account password. I've tried changing the Kwallet settings so that it doesn't close when unused for a period,or when the screensaver kicks in, but this (predictably) has no effect. In the Access Control screen, both KDE Wallet Manager and Kontact are shown as 'Always Allow' and I can see no other settings in either Kwallet or Kmail which are relevant to the problem. My guess is that the problem occurs because Kmail starts up ahead of Kwallet and therefore doesn't load the passwords initially. But that may be a red herring as I'm not familiar with the way Kmail and Kwallet interact.

I am now using SuSE 11.1 with KMail 1.9.10 (KDE 3.5.10 "release 21.13.1" open SUSE). My intention is to do a clean install of 11.4 from purchased DVD and then migrate (import) all of my personal files from a backup. I have not yet seen either SuSE 11.4 or KDE4, so I am unfamiliar with any changes to the folders and files, how they may have been named, where they're located in 11.4, etc. Inoder to copy my backed up KDE 3.5 KMail into the newly installed SuSE 11.4/KDE4 KMail, will the following folders and files go into folders and files named the same in 11.4/KDE4, or will the folders and files for the new KMail be named differently and/or be located differently?
/home/<my name>/.kde/share/apps/kmail (my e-mails)
/home/<my name>/.kde/share/apps/kabc/ (address book)
/home/<my name>/.kde/share/config/kaddressbookrc (address book settings)
/home/<my name>/.kde/share/config/kmailrc (kmail settings)
Are there any issues I need to be aware of in migrating the KDE 3.5 Kmail materials into 11.4/KDE4? Or will this be as simple as when I upgraded from 11.0 to 11.1?

Running 9.04 with Kmail 1.12.2 with KDE 4.3. Akonadi is activated. Everything works except I cannot email to a distribution list. Am using POP3 with SMPTE. Comes back with
p, li { white-space: pre-wrap; } Message sending failed since the following recipients were rejected by the server: test@steve-laptop (The server responded: "test@steve-laptop failed to route the address")
So I unchecked the default-domain inside my sending option for SMPTE and same thing.
Is there a manual switch or setting in kmailrc? I looked and didn't see anything. Doing the same thing on 3 different computers. Tried searching the net but couldn't find anything.
