Dec 26, 2010I m using fedora 14(gnome), can i install SuperKaramba on it... The latest version of SuperKaramba is 0.39. But it is not compiling on gnome!

General :: Superkaramba Not Working At Startup
Mar 17, 2010i use PCLINUXOS 2009.1 and in kde i installed superkaramba themes. but after i logoff and get back in not only karamba not starts;the themes when i took a look are gone.
if there is way to edit the kde startup also help me with that issue too.
my kde version is KDE version: 3.5.10

May 3, 2011I noticed that in Fedora 15 Beta when you choose a minimal install then add ONLY the defaults of the "GNOME Desktop" package, you will get this error: gnome-desktop3-3.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64 has a required package:
system-backgrounds-gnome
When I look for gnome-desktop3-3.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64 it is not on any installation menu list. I prefer gnome, but installed KDE and that worked. Any ideas of getting gnome to work?

All I can get are errors saying cang find kernel or error like that. I have used linux and windows environment. The iso I am using is fine, I am sure because I have instaled it on two pcs. Iso gnome-live >> usb (bootable to install)

Apr 24, 2011I've just installed 11.4 and then updated to gnome 3. I've noticed that Nautilus doesn't appear to mount my windows NTFS partition. I find this odd because both Ubuntu and Fedora detect and mount it just fine in Gnome 3 (I've been trying all 3 this week).

Jan 7, 2011I have installed openSUSE 11.3 on a couple of computers here at work, one 64bit one 32. I always install choosing KDE as the desktop and installed Gnome once the OS install is complete. Now when I go into YAST2 and select the gnome and I get the following. pattern:gnome-11.3-22.1.i586 requires patterns-openSUSE-gnome, but ths requirement cannot be provided

And the 64 version say the say but with x86_64 instead of i586. I have been on 11.3 for a month now and the systems are fully updated. I do not want to uninstall KDE and I do not want to break patterns. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hardware: Dell Optiplex GX620, 360GB SATA HDD, Ralink NIC (driver installed), I forget the graphics card.
Primary concern: Installing Gnome 3 from a USB.
Secondary concern: I can't establish a connection to the internet via ethernet or my Wifi card. When I try Code: Select allping -c 3 www.google.com the output tells me 3 packages were transmitted and 0 were received. It seems to have something to do with my router (Arris) not being DHCP-endabled?
I'm currently reading a couple of books to try and learn how to use CLIs with Linux but I am still new and largely ignorant of how to do anything. I tried messing with Arch, that didn't work very well. I've been googling these issues but I can't figure anything out or find anything relevant. I've been using Ubuntu for a couple of years and have a basic understanding of Linux and I'm working on a basic understanding of computers.
As far as getting a .deb package onto a usb of Gnome or whatever desktop environment goes I think I can manage that by myself. I just have no clue how to actually install something from a USB, especially from a command line interface.

Jul 18, 2010I installed Fedora 13 from a cd that installed just one desktop, Gnome. I wish I had used the other installation, guess its the dvd, which installs both GNOME and KDE. Nothing I've read explains how to install KDE from Gnome. I went out on my own and installed kde-desktop and all its dependencies using Gnome's Add/Remove Programs. This worked in that it gave me the GNOME / KDE option under the Sessions menu of my login screen. What I didn't expect was to see all those KDE programs under Gnome's menus.
Is there a way to install KDE that does not place all those KDE programs under Gnome's menus or is it up to me to remove any KDE program I don't whant in a Gnome menu from the list that constitutes that menu?

Aug 2, 2011I am trying to install OpenSUSE with the 4.7GB install iso that I burned, everything worked fine and I am now in the "Perform Installation" part. It seems to be stuck at that, it says "Preparing disks." and is at 0%. The mouse has the circle loading thing and its moving,I am unable to change the tabs from Slide SHow to Details and cant click . Should I abort and try again? Or does this normally take a long time. Been about 15 minutes.

Jan 24, 2010It all started when ubuntu suddenly got blocked and i had to restart the computer manually. After restarting it, it said the filesystem has errors and forced fsck. it never ended successfully so i used the live cd to fsck from terminal. then it booted regularly.... and then there was no GNOME option in the login menu... i have LXDE and from there i looked in the synaptic and GNOME wasn't installed and when i tried to install it, it said that it is dependent on two conflicting packages :
gnome:
Depends: swfdec-mozilla but it is not going to be installed
Depends: epiphany-extensions but it is not going to be installed
and i can NOT install both of them they are conflicting packages therefore i can NOT install gnome.
