I am trying to get apache to listen to specific IP address and I have read up of the listen command (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/bind.html) I can get virtual sites to work but not the apache it self.

All websites are set up with "VirtualHost" and they all work properly.The problem I'm having is that if I enter any subdomain of the main domain, I can still reach the webpage.Is there some way of telling apache to DROP / display a forbidden message for all subdomains which are not listed in the VirtualHosts?

View 7 Replies View RelatedOn Fedora 13 is there anywhere else on the system that I have to change to get Apache to Listen to an assigned port, something other than 80. Suppose for instance I wanted Apache to Listen on port 94. I told by the site that their router is forwarding apache to port 94. That doesn't mean I change the Listen in httpd.conf. correct. Apache is still expecting connection on port 80 but in this case 80 then gets forwarded in the router to 94. This is my understanding.

I make an application on GNU/Linux which listening on a MULTICAST stream, so I open my unconnected socket, bind it on a MULTICAST address and a port, join the multicast group with the "setsockopt (IP_ADD_MEMBERSHIP)", then I receive datagram on my socket.
Now I've two different instances of the same application that run with their own MULTICAST address and port. And what I found strange is that, after a misconfiguration, I switch the ports, for example:
Emitting on 225.0.0.1/23451 and 225.0.0.2/23452
Receiving on 225.0.0.1/23452 and 225.0.0.2/23451
And my receiving part doesn't care about the MULTICAST address, it looks like the socket is listening on the port number only! I mean that the receiver [225.0.0.1/23452] take its datagrams from emitter [225.0.0.2/23452] and vice-versa!

for masquerade -> iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE
for transparent -> iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-ports 3128
how to make a rule if there 1 address i dont want to redirect to port 3128? in other words 1 specific address just run on port 80.
I have my firewall setup so that only specific subnets/IP addresses can access the system. My issue is that I have remote user/laptop who needs to access the system, but is constantly on a different subnet/dhcp IP address. Is there configuration for iptables where I can enter the mac address of the laptop to allow access to the system and not specify a subnet or IP address?

The rest of the machines on my lan are correctly using my router for that purpose. As a result, what happens then is that my debian machine frequently gets a duplicate ip address assigned to it. I would like to specify to my debian computer that I want it to use the specific fixed ip address of my router for dhcp purposes.

I closed all Internet related apps and the connection persisted. After a reboot it did not reconnect (yet).The IP address appears to belong to esomniture.com - some sort of web analytics company. How do I prevent my computer from connecting to these rascals. I have found a lot of documentation regarding stopping inbound connections to services on my computer but not the other way. I have various filtering addons installed in Firefox however, this connection seems to be at a lower level as no program is specified as being responsible for the connection.

I found some of them (awstats, lire/logreport, weblog expert, apache logs viewer, etc..) but they generate some global and general report about the log file. Also some perl script I found they just show the Top X number of different patterns. My request is how can I generate some similar report with this output:
IP-s | Total nr. of connections | Number of pages visited | Total time of connection
So basically this is a list with every IP on the log and the respective numbers (connection/pages/time) associated.

I've got everything working except the url for the site.The IP address of the server will take me to the site URL.../But I'd rather use the server's name instead of the IP address URL...When i try to go to URL... in Firefox or IE it give me a server not found page and changes the URL to URL...I also have Webmin installed on the server and I've been playing around with the Apache module and can't figure out how to set it so i can use the server name instead of the IP address to get to the site.

I'm trying to setup an Apache server on my computer which will allow browsing of files in a specific directory and subdirectories, without needing any sort of authentication.
I've got the Apache2 server up and running through yast, and everything works fine as long as I try to point it to the /www/htdocs folder. However, I want to point it at another folder, which is on another partition. This partition is formatted as NTFS, if that matters at all (here's some background on some permissions issues I had with the NTFS partitions recently).
When I change the "Directory" setting in the Yast http server configuration utility to the directory on the NTFS partition I wish to use, attempting to access the server results in the following error:

I have no idea what is going on here and this is the second time it has done this but. I just installed Lucid Lynx Desktop Edition for my Server. I have installed apache php5 mysql binarys. I have 3 ips on the machine 10.0.1.30, 10.0.1.37, 10.0.1.38. .30 is the main ip 10/100 the rest are 10,100,1000 ports. I can only access Apache 2.2 over .37 or .38 but not .30
I have not used Ubuntu alot but I am starting to and this really pisses me off since all my computer have aliases to the machine through .30
I've been for a while trying to configure my apache to host 5 domains as virtualhosts in the same IP address, but seems that neither one makes it through... it always takes first one, because it is the default:
