Software :: Finding A Business Software With Multiple Settings For The Different Countries?
Mar 21, 2010
I have seen the polls for all kinds of software to get the all time favorite of the year. Fun but as a business I have no real use of that polls. What I need to see is something similar but than with business software that can be used worldwide. So with multiple settings for the different countries.
Software that can make yearly tax reports, make client registration incl. connection to banks to import spendings incl. sending invoices and, making stock reports so on. Keeping track of and recording driving miles. And most of all output has to be compatible with global Windows applications so our tax agents can import all data. I think if you run a business you can fill in your missing "BEST" software.
I am looking for solution that would allow multiple users distributed over several offices in several countries to access one corporate file depository. The features I am looking for, are as follows:
- There should be the way to establish user groups and then define for each folder access level (read/write) for every user/group. Every users is given his login and password. - This file depository should be accessed from both Linux and Windows clients - There should be a way how to sync certain folders/files on one's PC so that it is possible to work off-line and then sync back to the common depository.
Then I plan to launch some regular backup routine on that folder where all the files of depository are kept. I can imagine that the solution could be involving several tools, ie access for Windows users might involve setting up samba server, but I don't know how to establish all the limited access stuff for Win clients via samba.
I operate on fc13. I have a small business running in India, I need a business accounting software for my business. Something simillar to tally. Gnucash Grisbi are all personal accounting softwares. These do not fullfill the needs of a busness. even then good softwares. I am searching for a business accounting software.
I am certainly a Linux Newbie..I have a business with a network of PCs that need not get client files corrupted by viruses & other bad things from the internet...YET I would like to let my employees(who are way worse newbies than me..om Windows even...& stand good chance to mess up computers) use internet at times if they wish. My first thought was just separate side by side PCs, one to get on for Clients/business network etc, & the other to get trashed by the internet.
What I am thinking is a better alternative (& I need to know from yall who I'm sure are way beyond this newbie whether this thinking is correct) is to put something like Puppy Linux 5.0 on small memory USB flash drives & let them each have one to use for internet, simple application functions etc. Can I safely believe that running internet browsing on the flash drive with Puppy Linux booted & running as the OS is NOT going to potentially infect my windows XP business PCs with viruses etc?
This should be relatively simple, I've tried searching google for it already posted, but couldn't find the list. Would anyone possibly know what the default autostart settings are for kubuntu? Like, if you haven't changed much in your autostart, could you open that up real quick and take a screenshot and post it?. I was trying to remove one of the things I had in autostart but my laptops touchpad got stuck and held down the "remove" and removed 3 of the default applications.
My server was attacked by china, russia, and from other countries via ssh. I use ssh from other part of the network like internet to access my home server. I just want to know how to add ip range of other country in hosts.deny file.
for the first time I've gotten my hands on a ASRock ION 330HT and set it up as a front end to my existing front/backend which sits in the living room. I have EVERYTHING working but I've found an annoyance which is probably as a result of one of my screw-ups.
Basically - the backend (/frontend) stores it's videos in the default /var/lib/mythtv/ blah blah blah. This has always worked. I copy my video files there, rescan and bob's your uncle.
With the ASRock, I'd like to store some files locally, so currently the videos folder is set to /var/jan/Videos. I'll work on smb mounting later.
When I scan that, the videos also show and bob's my second uncle.
HOWEVER. After the scan from the ASRock, my MAIN box also is looking for files in /home/jan/Videos (which doesn't exist there) and finds nothing. If I rescan - all is good again. Then going back the the ASRock, IT is then looking for the files in /var/lib/mythtv etc. and finds nothing.
Why should setting in EITHER frontend mess with the setting in the other? That kind of defeats the purpose of having multiple front ends with multiple hardware/software configurations right?
i am trying to install ubuntu 9.04 on quite a few computers. all the computers need the same applications that i already have, as well as settings such as panel shortcuts and color schemes. there are no files like music or pictures, just applications already installed. i have all this on a bootable flash drive. all settings are saved. if i install from the flash drive will the settings transfer to the computer i am installing it on? if not, is there another way to copy all settings and apps or do i have to manually install everything on each computer?
My laptop now has 8GB of memory, so I think mounting a tmpfs over /tmp is a reasonable thing to do. I also want to prepare for getting a SSD in the near future. The computer has a 1GB swap partition and I've set vm.swappiness=20
1) There is also a tmpfs mounted to /dev/shm. Both have the default size of 50%. Is there a way to get /dev/shm and /tmp to share the same capacity without doing a symlink or bind?
2) Is the swap partition a good size (is that swappiness value ok)? What happens if /tmp runs out of room? Should I increase the swap size to something really large like 15G (because I have swappiness so low...)?
I've always used Debian with a single monitor and no need of proprietary drivers, because I usually don't do graphics or multimedia. Now I'm asked to set-up a machine with 3 nvidia video cards (770) and 4 monitors and everything went south. I started with just 2 monitors connected to 2 different video cards, not wanting to push my luck.
I installed a fresh Jessie and followed the instruction to install the nvidia drivers and tools from the Wiki. Everything went smooth. After reboot I executed (as root) nvidia-settings and I configured the two monitors to be one to the right to the other, with BaseMosaic option (at this point just one monitor was active) I saved the configuration to /etc/X11/xorg.conf , I even executed nvidia-xconfig as suggested, I rebooted and nothing happened, only one monitor was working, while the other -- looking again in the nvidia settings -- was still disabled.
I then tried with xinerama option and things are even worse, since now both monitors are black. I can login in one textual shell, but then I don't know what to do, since in my 10+ years of linux ... I never had to mess with X server. Is there a way to at least recover a working X without reinstalling everything?
The 'Multiple Screens' tool, aka grandr, is very handy for setting up my dual monitors. But restarting my system restores the monitor setup to the (crummy) default settings. Is there a way to save these settings and make sure they are always applied when the OS boots? Putting these settings in my xorg.conf would be fine, but I'm not sure where or in what form the settings generated by grandr might be located, or if they're at all xorg.conf compatible.
I have been with windows and want to move my file server to Linux. I googled and read various articles and Samba/Posix ACL of linux file permission My concern is about the permission in windows & Linux In Linux there are only (read, write, execute file permission and my boss wants the file permission like in windows environment as below
- file owner can delete but other user in same group can only read/modify the file (or the content)
- file inheritance to sub directories
My question is, if Linux only comes with read/write/execute permission, do you think we can use Linux as file server to store business data with above requirement?
I wanted light fast email so I went with kmail. I set up my sig for my business account and it works just fine. Problem is when I send email from my personal account I dont want any sig to show up. I went into identities and have no sig on my cox account but it still shows up with my business sig,
I guess pretty much everyone here is using Gnome. I've used KDE for 14 years, but kaddressbook is simply too primitive. And they've made it worse lately. Is anyone actually using a contacts manager in Gnome for business? I need advanced features like mail merge, ticklers, etc. Which one is most advanced? I want it to save contacts as vcards, not in proprietary formats, so the data is survivable, and ideally individually in directories, not as one big vcard wad.
Trying to use Evolution, but it segaults every time I hit Calendar; missing some icons from a Gnome package I can't figure out which one. (gtk-missing-image, stock_bell, stock_notes, etc) Also Evolution can not remember my mail certificates, and asks to approve them every time I start... for 16 email accounts this is a pain.
I need GIMP to work for my place of business. When I open gimp in terminal and run the program, everything is fine untill I click on either smudge, pencil, text tool, etc. It just crashes, and terminal says this: gimp: fatal error: Failed to register GObject with DBusConnection script-fu:2795): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: script-fu: gimp_wire_read(): error
I always used to wonder how do web hosting companies host their websites. My problem is I saw some one having their website.I have a degree in Computer Science. I am not clear as how do these web hosting companies give the logins to their users as root. Meaning how can a hosting provider provide root login to say 1000 users and each having a different IP address.
I am looking for an Ubuntu replacement program for MDBS, which is essentially a business management program that Matco uses for tool sales.I need a program that:
- includes a way to archive my customers, their sales history and personal information - archives my products so that I may simply choose what my customers have purchased from a list and invoice them with a sales receipt
No matter what modifications I make to the printer settings, in order to get both the addressee and the return address on the 4.5x9.5 envelope, I cannot get the information on the face of the envelope.
I have designed a business card in Inkscape and saved it as a .pdf file. When I sent it as an e-mail to my local printer, they said the file could not be opened. I then saved the file in about every format that Inkscape Save As... option gave me and sent it to them to no avail. They use Windows software as does all printers in my city.
Is it possible that WINE can covert this high graphic rendering and allow me to send it to my printer? If so, how can I do this?
I am new to Linux and have just moved over from Windows (kill Bill) never to look back. I do a lot of Business Plans for new business start-ups as well as existing small business'. My question is, is there anything similar to Business Plan Pro, by Palo Alto Software, written for the Linux OS?
My company manufactures satellite TV receiveing equipment. Out current software is quite long and and a bit of an annoyance for customers. I would like the help of a programmer to create for us a customised, easy to use GUI, built to our specification.
I learned Java(SE,EE) few years ago and didn't use it because we are using PHP and ASP.NET at work. However, I would like to ask a question: Is Java (SE,EE) free for use for business purpose?I mean,if I start up a company and use tomcat with java, do I have to pay for the license to use Java?I don't know much about java license until I learned that ASF(Apache Software Foundation) quited from the Java Community recently. As a result, they recalled my attention regarding the legitimacy of using java in business purpose for free.
all of those in business know that we will never be able to completely dispose of Windows - Linux just doesnt support business that well, as there arnt the number of users. However, does anybody know of any packages (free or commercial for Ubuntu) that will replace any of the following:email maketing similar to Group Mail (Windows)web stats program like Web Position (Windows)web button design tool like Xara Webstyle (Windows)Also, are there any shopping carts out there that work like Actinic? OK, I know there's oscommerce and Zen Cart, but they are a setup nightmare compared with Actinic for setting up ecommerce sites, albeit they are free (which is always good).
I want to connect my linux laptop (Mandriva 2008.1 x86_64) to my windows small business server. My issue is that I am not sure what I can and can't do in terms of any windows config changes. Can linux (I assume using Samba) connect normally?
