I would like to have someone send me a fax to my phone number and be able to view the document electronically.
Is this possible? and if so what application do you recommend. I guess the concept is similar to eFax (but of course i don't want to pay).
just wanted to check if there is a package that would let a mobile phone be used as a document scanner ( not for android phones)

I have another file where I have filtered out all the line numbers for those which have an error of various types. e.g column count, field type etc. I want to get all those lines into a separate file so I can sanitise them. There are abt 3-4000 of them.
How can I access those lines which I want to isolate into a single file? I have all the usual linux stuff available and a bit of understanding of regexps.
I have connected my moblile Nokia 3110c using a data cable to usb to a ubuntu-pc.How can i kanow to which port it is connected and how to confirm this port is using wvdial or not?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am doing a perl script validation for Phone numbers. The normal phone number format is 01-32145. I need to do two validations for the phone number
1) A valid phone number can have at least two digits as prefix and at least five digits as postfix. e.g. 01-01011
2) A valid phnoe number can't contain only the digit "0" in either area code or phone number e.g. 00-11111 or 01-00000 is not allowed.
I am able to do the first validation, but not the second. I am pasting my code part here. How to add the second validation inside my current code.

how to get xsane to scan a document and have it display as a full 8.5x11 sized document instead of something half that size? I've been trying and trying and can't seem to figure it out.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt's installed as a mobile broadband connection. Only works if my phone is plugged in during boot, otherwise plugging in my phone does nothing. For example, I booted my netbook earlier today but my phone wasn't plugged in. Tethering did not work, it just acts as if it isn't present. I rebooted (with my phone still attached) and now tethering magically works.

I have a dell precision m4300 laptop with a 360 wireless bluetooth dell adapter On my system there is a debian lenny with kde3 and backported enable(everythings is p to date except bluez-utils and bluetooth holded at version 3.36-3)
Nowadays bluetooth more less works fine, I can send and receive single file to/from my phone (nokia n70)
The hell begin when I try to browse my phone files from konqueror...with bluetooth:/ I can see the list of all the device near me with sdp://[address]/ i can see two icons (obex file transfer & obex object push)
but I cant see or access to any file or folder into the phone.
I also try to update my bluez-utils to 4.60-1~bpo50+1 but in this case kbluetooth totally fail and a see the contextual menu of the system tray icon all disaled.

I tried to use Calibre but it's designed to use with eReaders, exporting to ebook formats. The biggest annoyance with Calibre is that it won't open the document with it's related application (PDF with a pdf reader, CHM with Chmsee and so on), but rather open a link in the browser.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to print some documents I created in OO (.odt), but our printers are not Linux compatible, which means I somehow need to transfer the files to a Windows computer. I can't use the .odt files because MW can't open them (I can't install OpenOffice on the machines), and saving in either .doc or .docx does not work either because it totally messes up the document. So I tried print to file and created several pdfs, but again Adobe Reader on Windows can not open them. I am sort of running out of ideas, and the other thing is I am not really sure if the files I created are pdfs at all. When you open them in gedit they all start with
%!PS-Adobe-3.0 which to me looks more like a post script file.
Im currently using OpenOffice.org Writer to write a hand in document for my course. I've come to the point where I want to create a graphical tree in Draw to present an idea and then add this document into writer. I've tried to use Insert -> Object -> OLE Object, and add the document as an inline frame. This looked pretty ugly though, either it's too small or there seems to be no way to just resize the frame without stretching the whole document into unreadability.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using my laptop to read an ebook, and as I have no table where I read, i just rotate the screen to the right and hold the laptop as I was holding a book.. the problem I have now is the scrolling. So I have a couple Ideas, but I haven't found how to implement them, maybe someone knows how to do it, and could point me to the right direction.
1.- Use the webcam. Is there any way to use my left thumb to control the scrolling trough some kind of gestures in the webcam. 2.- Create a shortcut. I tried to create a new shortcut and assign it to the bluetooth key of my laptop, but I couldn't find any "command" that means scroll down

When I click to open a .pdf file, it shows nothing without a loading icon on the right hand top corner. I have waited a long, but it did not seem to change. Today I have removed document viewer using ubuntu software center and reinstalled it, but the problem exist. What should I do?

There is no icon in Documents (where he said he saved it) other than a zip file which doesn't have it in it. The only place I can seem to try to open it from is in OpenOffice itself under "Recent Documents", but when i click on it, it says "filename.odt does not exist", and i cannot right-click to open it with another word processor. I don't have backups enabled I noticed in OpenOffice's settings, but surely the document is somewhere! I checked in the trash but it's not in there. but not /home/myuser/projects > ls -al
shows public_html and projects as having identical permissions (755)
I have an EeePC 701SD running Linux that I use for Uni assignments mostly. Recently, there were some issues with it so under advisement I reset the EeePC to its factory settings and reinstalled everything. Since then, I have been having problems with my documents through openoffice and was wondering if this was an openoffice problem or something else entirely.
If I save documents, I cannot open them again. I get a little pop up box if I open openoffice and go file/open that asks me to put it in Unicode. If I choose the file from my documents, it opens in texteditor, telling me it is a binary file and to save it will corrupt it. Neither option actually gets me my file; openoffice gives me lovely little squares, and texteditor gives me the # symbol.I cannot open the documents on Windows either.
a) what is going on,
b) how I can resolve it, and
c) how I can fix my documents (important, uni documents!!)
I'm trying to lock down firefox, and have currently stopped all downloads.
I am trying to find an addon for 3.6.3 that will allow viewing of pdf files within the browser, not requing them to be downloaded.
I have tried pdfdownload and the google docs viewer, and they both still come up with the download prompt when you try to access a pdf.
Can anyone recommend a way to make it so when you clikc on a pdf it opens in the browser, always?
Integrating a website with my billing agent, they suggest:"Make a directory named 'data' outside the document root of your websiteYour password file (.htpasswd) and others will be stored in this 'data' directory. You must create the data directory outside your web root".How do I get around this and get a browser to access my /data directory and not my /var/www/html/data directory?
