Software :: Choosing Journal / Diary - Useable From USB Stick

Jun 30, 2010

since switching from Windows, I have been using Lifeograph, which is a neat little program.

However, my needs are such now, that I am in need of something portable and cross-platform capable, for a whole bunch of reasons.

Basically, I need something that does the job of Lifeograph, or David RM's The Journal, but it needs to be useable from a USB stick in both Windows and Linux.

I know it seems I want the moon on a stick, but i have my reasons. It does not have to be free/open source either. I am happy to pay, so long as it does the job.

CentOS 5 :: How To Create A Personal Server

Jan 5, 2011

I would like to create a customized CentOS server, or it will serve me as a server (postfis) postfixadmin, Hylafax, webmail (Roundcube for example) and may be I would integrate suger crm.

If I create it all this server and it runs perfectly. my goal is I create a compilation or for example I install this distrubution and wonder just some configuration (eg IP address or the time just) knowing that by the end of the installation I find hylafax, postfix , and all AC roundecube install it remains for me to set them up! Taking the example of Elastix cd: www.elastix.org/ or it can make all AC (but its main role is the PABX).

Debian :: Best Way To Setup Personal Repo For Distribution?

Aug 1, 2011

I have created some little .deb packages which are running fine within my local box. Now I like to create a personal repo for testing branch to distribute those .deb. I have a hosting space based on cetos server where I have both ftp as well as ssh access and I can create a subdomain there pointing to a folder which I can define. So based on this scenario what might be the best way for me to create a debian signed repo ? I have found
- dpkg-scanpackages
- reprepro
Which can create such repo for testing branch; as main non-free contrib style.

Fedora Networking :: WPA2 Personal Not Working With F15

May 29, 2011

I was using Fedora 14 for some months and my wireless was working fine. I've set up a hidden network with WPA2 Personal authentication. My laptop has an Atheros AR2413 802.11bg NIC and my modem/router is a Topcom Webracer. Yesterday I upgraded to Fedora 15 and I can't login to that network now. The only way to login again is to boot with the old Fedora 14 kernel that still shows up in my grub menu.I've searched this on these forums there are plenty of people with the same problem but the only suggestions are that the network card isn't supported by Fedora or the network card doesn't support 802.11bg.some suggest changing the authentication method in the router... and the only one who got it solved was by rebooting the router... None of this addresses the fact that the same hardware/network was working just fine in Fedora 14. And I still can't find a way to have a wireless WPA2 connection with Fedora 15.What can I do to fix it?

Ubuntu :: Setup MediaWIki As Personal Wiki (pim)?

Jul 15, 2010

I have changed to ubuntu a few months ago from windows, where I used to have a mediawiki set up on a local server. This wiki was used for notes, archiving, document management, file storage, calendaring, almost everything that most people do with a normal directory tree on their drives.

Unfortunately, I have not yet managed to install a local media wiki on my ubuntu 10.04 LTS system so far. I have tried it once and messed up the php-stuff so badly that I had to reinstall the entire system in order for it to work in a acceptable speed.

how to set up a current version mediawiki (or an older version, if that's the only chance) as a local wiki in 10.04 LTS? There is no network access to the wiki, just local access using a firefox browser on the machine where it is installed.

Ubuntu Installation :: Creating A Personal ISO For Installs?

Once I do the install people want their desktop to look like mine so then I have to install Compiz and Cairo-dock and configure them both like mine. Is there a way to create a LiveCD or installation disk already pre-loaded and configured with Cairo-dock and Compiz. I'd also take off F-Spot and add digiKam, along with making sure a working version of Flash and Java are also included in my personal installs..

Ubuntu :: Looking For Personal Schedule Software Package?

I don't want to use Evolution, because I'm not looking to keep track of weekly repeating tasks on an annual calendar. It's not for business use, but something more applied to home chores or weekly maintenance of my car. Has anyone come across anything close to this? I'm out of ideas on where to search.

Networking :: Personal File Sharing On Fedora 14?

Mar 8, 2011

My wife and I activated the 'Personal File Sharing' on our two Fedora #9 laptops. We can exchange photos and text files via our "public" folders, just fine. Entire setup took less than 20 minutes. We have not been able to get the Fedora #14 version of 'Personal File Sharing' to work using same, online and 'in system', help directions for both the F#9 and F#14. After four eves of looking I have not found any more detailed, install/activate help files anywhere. I can't ask my system manager because that's us. At this point the only thing I can think of is that there may be some part of the F#14 security structure that needs to be addressed and tweaked.

OpenSUSE :: Personal Settings - Global Keyboard Shortcuts

Jan 28, 2011

I'm new to Linux. I'm running openSUSE 11.3 with both the Gnome and KDE desktops installed, but so far I'm only using Gnome. I was looking for a way to assign sound volume increase/decrease to some keyboard keys instead of having to click on the speaker icon at the bottom of the screen. I found what I included in the Title of this message. Under the Global Keyboard Shortcuts was an item for each increase and decrease sound volume. These were set to (I believe) meta+ and meta-, respectively.

I changed them to F12 and F11, respectively (to match my Apple keyboard). After the changes, I started a game which takes over the entire screen (which is why I wanted to assign the volume to keys in the first place) to see if the changes worked. They did not! So, I tried to go back and change them to something else and now I can't even access Global Keyboard Shortcuts at all. I keep getting the following error:

Sorry - System Settings
Failed to contact the KDE global shortcuts daemon
Message: Could not get owner of name 'org.kde.kglobalaccel': no such name
Error: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NameHasNoOwner

What's up and how do I recover from this (if I even care)? Also, how do I assign volume increase/decrease to keys?
