Software :: Define A Qeth Networking Device On ZLinux?

Apr 1, 2010

I'm trying to define a new qeth networking device on a zLinux system. I'm following the Red Had instructions and I can see my hardware is correctly defined but not online. Addresses fc00, fc01 and fc02 are my qeth device but they are not yet online.

[root@lxp10004 /]# lscss | grep 1732
0.0.FB04 0.0.0000 1732/01 1731/01 yes 80 80 FF 04000000 00000000
0.0.FB05 0.0.0001 1732/01 1731/01 yes 80 80 FF 04000000 00000000
0.0.FB06 0.0.0002 1732/01 1731/01 yes 80 80 FF 04000000 00000000
0.0.FC00 0.0.0021 1732/05 1731/05 80 80 FF 19000000 00000000

[Code].....

I did this on one zLinux system yesterday and got the same results and after doing it a bunch of times it finally took the command. Doing it on a second system today and don't seem to be able to issue the command without errors.

General :: Emulator - What Are The Advantages Of ZLinux / S390 On Hercules

Feb 6, 2011

I set up Debian Linux s390 port to run on Hercules on an i386 computer. I know that I can now develop apps or run apps that are ported to zLinux/s390 Linux, and perhaps also learn more about the special features of the s390/zseries processors (or at least most of their features). I've also read that there is no reliability/availability/serviceability advantage to running this in emulation since the underlying hardware is not-fault tolerant. Is that even true, given the redundant/fault-tolerant computations performed by the emulated processors? Does anyone know of other good reasons to run zLinux in emulation?

Red Hat / Fedora :: Define User /password For Sasl?

Mar 26, 2011

I need define a user /password for sasl but want the authentication at runtime be automatic - no explicit prompting the user while accessing a tcp socket with some applications that need the authentication (e.g libvirt)

so I try : saslpasswd2 -c -p -a libvirt <user>

and it hangs (if i now press Enter it says : "invalid parameter supplied") . if I avoid the -p flag the above commad works fine and prompts for password and later when using the tcp it prompts for the above defined user/password and autheticates ok .
But I want without the explicit authentication

The man pages says -p Pipe mode - saslpasswd2 will neither prompt for the password nor verify that it was entered correctly. This is the default when standard input is not a terminal.

In the past (before some upgrading of libvirt via rpm) I had the SASL authentication at runtime done automatically with no explicit prompting the user
