Software :: Can't Seem To Get Javascript To Work In Links
Feb 26, 2010
I can't seem to get javascript to work in links. According to the documentation, there should be an entry in the setup menu for javascript options, and I don't even have that. I'm using slackware 13, and it came with links 2.2. I thought maybe it wasn't installed with javascript support, so I downloaded the source (2.3pre1) and reinstalled it:but still no javascript options in the menu.. and I verified that I was running the new version.
I need a textbrowser with Javascript Support. I have compiled the elinks stable 0.11x and the unstable 0.12x version mit JavaScript Support (js moz dev). Both browsers can be started and showed websites normaly. But no javascript, even simple tests like [URL] failed. I started elink with ./elink and typed then the url.
I work in a lab when all the guys use PCs with Windows and access the lab linux servers via ssh.
I prefer linux, so I have a local installation of ubuntu 10.4 on my PC. I mount the home of our lab server using mount server:/home /mnt/home/. I can then access the files on the server (I had to change my local UID to match the one assigned to me on our server in order to be able to write to my home dir).
The problem is all the (symbolic) links I have on the server don't work when I access them through the mounted location. I guess the system simply tries following the link in my local /home instead on server:/home.

Recently Firefox is showing some but not all the links inside a page in a website that I use every day.Firefox had worked well in the past years with this site, so I made a few tests:- I tested the web page on Firefox 3.5.9 on Fedora 12. Some links missing.- I tested the same web page on IE8 on Windows Vista. No issues, all links there.- I tested the same web page downgrading Firefox to version 3.5.4 and downgrading the required libraries. Same issue, some links missing.- I compared the html code that the web server hands to both IE8 and Firefox. They are exactly the same.I don't know enough about html or javascript to understand why Firefox doesn't like some of this code portion.
I just setup my first Linux box using [URL] everything went along fine except now I have a problem that I cannot seem to solve. I've set up a webpage on the box for my company's intra-net for testing purposes but I cannot get the links to work. On the server itself all the links work but Firefox still ask me to authenticate with the Adobe Flashplayer (player10), but when I access the page from another computer I have the following issues:-
1. Even though hostname -f shows the a fully qualified domain name I have to use the IP Address eg. 192.168.100.100 2. I can access the page but the links leading to the other pages do not work I get "Webpage cannot be found or the HTTP 404 Not Found" Error Message 3. None of the embedded pictures show up I get the red X.
I have been using a cron job to duplicate a folder into another users account every day and someone suggested using symbolic links instead although I cannot get them to work. In summary user GAMER generates log files that they want to access via HTTP, however I only have a web-server in the user account SERVER, in the past I would copy the logs folder from GAMERS account into SERVER/public_html/. and then chmod the files so the server could access them. Trying to use symbolic links I set up a link from root (as only root can access both accounts) I used: ln -s /home/GAMER/game/logs/ /home/SERVER/public_html/logs
However it seems that only root can use this link, I tried chmoding the link, all the files in the gamers /game/logs/*, /game/logs itself to 777 as well as changing chown and chgrp to server the files still cannot be read. When viewed from servers account my shell shows the link and where it is to hi-lighted in black with red text. /home/GAMER/game/ (chmod & chgrp) drwxrwxrwx 3 SERVER SERVER 4096 2011-01-07 15:46 logs /home/SERVER/public_html (chmod -h & chgrp -h)
It appears that clicking on a link in Firefox doesn't work until you move the mouse, i.e. if I put the mouse on a link and hold it stationary and click the link, nothing happens, but as soon as I move the mouse, the link then activates. Sometimes, I have to double click the link to get it to work. I've read some posts where people claim that Firefox "freezes" until you move the mouse. In my case, Firefox doesn't "freeze" in the traditional sense. It just that clicking a link doesn't behave properly as it should. I didn't have this problem in 8.04LTS (or previous distributions for that matter) only in 10.04LTS. I'm running the 32-bit version on a Dell Latitude D600 laptop with nvidia-common driver 0.2.23.
after updating to fedora 15, the http links in Thunderbird doesn't work.I have tried many solutions, but without result. - in prefs.js add :user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.ftp", "/usr/bin/firefox"); user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.http", "/usr/bin/firefox"); user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.https", "/usr/bin/firefox");- I have tried it with KDE and GNOME. - move .thunderbird to .thunderbird.backup and reopen thunderbird. But still same problem. - When I create a new user it works correctly! So I think it must be related to the update. - I also change the default application (in System Settings) to google-chrome and Opera. But no result. - http-links in other application (dolphin, nautilus, ...) works correctly
i have a Realtek RTL8192E Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC card on my Samsung r580 laptop that i just installed Ubuntu studio 10.04 on. I am wondering how to get the wireless card working in Ubuntu. I saw some info on my card here *url #1 (the urls i reference are in the attached txt file called urls.txt because i couldn't post the actual urls because apparently i need to post 15 times or something which i don't have time for at the moment)* and then i went here to download ndiswrapper *url #2* and both of the links on that page don't work. I followed the instructions on this page *urls #3* to get the info on my card. here is the info when i typed "lspci -knn" into the terminal in ubuntu studio. Code: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Core Processor DRAM Controller [8086:0044] (rev 12)

At my Uni, we use a web-based login for our internet connections. Its based off of Cisco, and every Wednesday night every computer on campus must re-enter their credentials to use the network.
Normally on my several computers I simply pull up the Terminal, point links to google.com using
Code:
And enter my credentials when Cisco redirects to the login page.
Literally, the process is
Code:
Then ENTER to accept the redirect, down arrow to skip over the logo image, USERNAME, ENTER, PASSWORD, ENTER, ENTER.
Naturally, this is EXTREMELY time consuming, as I have about 5 computers located around campus and must physically walk to the machines and login every single week.
My question is, How would I formulate a program that does the following;
1) checks for connectivity (i.e. is able to reach/resolve to the greater part of the internet) and
2) automatically fills in the credentials on the links login page?
I have a personal wiki of notes, with now thousands of links in markdown format:
[link text](http://example.com)
but now that fckeditor is available for mediawiki (very beta), it has become much better to just stick with wikitext format. There are only a few conversions to do: tables, links, and bulleted lists. The lists are a fairly simple regex and fckeditor magically reformats the tables, so all I'm left with is the links. But I'm not a regex master. How do I reformat code...
I try to fetch links from a URL using HTML::LinkExtor, but it always return 0 links even if the status code is 200 OK. I am running the following code in Ubuntu 9.04, just curious if the module is too old and its ways of HTTP request is disabled by some platforms.
I am working on a web-interface that has to show certain data in real-time (update it every 2 seconds). I figured including an iframe and reloading it with javascript would be the best bet. So to see if it works I wrote this test code. But it doesnt reload the iframe every 2 seconds. Can anyone point out where I am going wrong ?this is the code for hello.html
i think something has broken javascript in my chromium installation. I've tried updating chromium and reinstalling/updating my java installation. Neither of these has helped. To give you an idea of the behavior I'm seeing this page does not have buttons, but pictures of all the buttons. Clicking them does nothing. Also, gmail's regular interface will not load. Functionality seems entirely normal (so far) in firefox.
When using TOR it is recommended that you disable javascript and all other scripts because they can be used to detect your IP, defeating the purpose of TOR.
But there are some sites that simply do not work without javascript. Is it possible to keep all javascript functionality but disable just the functionality that is used to leak your IP?
I installed elinks from a slackware (slack 12.2) package, and no javascript anything is working. is that something i can only enable before install, or is there something in the setup menu i can do to turn it on?
I'm trying to find a web browser which supports javascript for my embedded Linux. I have a ARM9 embedded board TQ4240 which runs on Qtopia 2.2.0 and have already installed konqueror, but it seems that konqueror doesn't support javascript. Is there any browser that you could support Jquery.
There is this sample web page: [URL] and it has a clickable link / button that executes a JavaScript function: (Right-Click and Copy Shortcut would give this piece of code)
Code: javascript:__doPostBack('lbtnUpdateStatus','') whereas the source code for the link / button is as follows: Code: <a id="lbtnUpdateStatus" href="javascript:__doPostBack('lbtnUpdateStatus','')">
I want to automate the above function / link along with the said URL so that I won't have to open the webpage and click the button / link. I want a single URL hitting which we won't need to do the extra effort of "clicking the link / button" that executes the JavaScript function given above. I can't automate this task in the source webpage itself because that has to be there as it is for the users who access the webpage. How to achieve it?
I got some useful information here: [URL] but I want to call a javascript function along with a URL such as this: Code: [URL] javascript:alert("OKAY") but the above line of code won't work.
I went to [URL] the other day, and I'm really impressed with the way, when you click on domain, it adds it to the cart WITHOUT A REFRESH. But what I really want to know is - how does it do the slick little effect when you click "Add to basket", when it "appears" on the right hand side?
I have some variables that are loaded from mysql - in mysql, the line breaks are not indicated by ' or '<br>' or anything -they are just line breaks. the variable is loaded into javascript and then inserted into a <pre> element. the line breaks are not showing up.
pre1 = pre1.replace(/>/g,">"); - this works well, naturally. but how do i get those line breaks to show up as line breaks in a browser?
On that site I want to run a little javascript that verifies that the site was accessed as "Website1.com" and not "dev-Website1.com"
If it was accessed correctly, nothing happens. If it was accessed incorrectly, it displays an error saying "You are trying to access this site incorrectly."
I am using window.onbeforeunload to keep people from accidentally leaving. I was hoping to intercept this event, run my own dialog box and load another page that closes the window, or of course, cancel.
I'm needing this because my site is a single page and I can't figure out how long people are visiting for, if I could load an exit page, then I can figure this out.
In my book, this is an example of a recursive algorithm:
var reverseArray = function(x,indx,str) { return indx == 0 ? str : reverseArray(x,--indx,(str+= " " + x[indx])) ;; } var arr = new Array('apple','orange','peach','lime'); var str = reverseArray(arr,arr.length,""); alert(str) ;
I'm trying to understand it, I'm stuck at the (str+= " " + x[indx])) part - that part of the function definition expects an ARGUMENT, am I right? What's being passed to it is a bit of PROGRAM, the str+= stuff. So - how is it working?
