The song book that we use at our church is rather pieced together, and I am looking for software that I can use to scan it all in, and set all the songs to the same font. The only thing I know of is Photoscore, but that is a little out of my budget. If you know of anything open source for Linux, that would be great.

Do you know of any dvd copying program? like without making the image and then burning with just one process just copy the disc sorta program like roxio dvd copier? I wanted to make copies of movies I made a dvd of but aside from image burn which is a hassle to make the image first. is there something for burning on the fly or dvd/cd copying? infrarecorder and cdburnerxp do not work for me at all.

But there is one anoying problem - when i want to listen to song it opens VLC, but when i open another song it opens another new VLC window. And this problemug or whatever didnt apear in Windows version VLC player.

I have used gimp, and it does the job, but it just does not quite fit for me. I do not need anything too fancy. The things that I am looking for in a program are mainly as follows:Layers Image rotation Paint Fill and brush (add on brushes would be nice) Support for png and tiff Levels, curves, hue and saturation.
In short I would like a free (open source is preferred) alternative to something like pixelmater. I can use a cloud based alternative but I really would rather use a stand alone program as I do not always have internet connection. Does such a program exist? What would you use?

I'm looking for some pointers on a method to "transfer" the song-playing from my laptop to my PC, both running ubuntu. The use case is: I'm home listening to some song on the laptop. Then I realize how crappy the speakers are. Here's what I do *now*:
1. Stop playback on the laptop
2. Get up, go to the PC, open the music player
3. Find the same song
4. Try to find the same point in the song
5. Stop playback on the laptop
6. Start playback on the PC (the PC has good speakers)
Of course now I'm dreaming of having a "button" I push that does all this all by itself. Can anyone give me some pointers?

Being linux, one should in principle get the source codes for everything that has been precompiled (except the proprietary drivers such as nvidia) in the installation DVDs/CDs. Where are the source codes ? Is there a place I can download them ?
To avoid confusion, I am not referring to the kernel source that can be compiled to give a linux kernel, but that does not include the drivers, such as intel_drv.so.
To be more specific, the intel graphic i810 driver has been built into any linux system, but where is the exact source? One answer may be that primary source intellinuxgraphics.com. However, if anyone tries to download the every changing (i.e., keep updated almost every single day) driver source codes from freedesktop.org, it is almost certain that the source codes will not be the same as the one that is finalized in Fedora 10.
trying to install a dvd of Openbook, a distribution of ebooks from the gutenberg collection. running debian lenny amd64.i have multi and uni in repositories enabled. equivs is installed, as well as libglib1.2ldbl libglib1.2-dev and libglib1.2-dbg. i looked in /dependencies/deb/ folder on the dvd and found these packages gdk-pixbuf_0.22-1_i386.deb and gtk+_1.2-1_i386.deb. tried to install gtk+.... after finding synaptic shows no gtk+ packages, only gtk... with the expected error that i am running the wrong version of debian to install x386 apps. looked online and found that lenny amd64 will run 386 apps in compatibility mode. how does compatibility mode work?

I have been trying (since 10.04!) to sync my Evolution contacts. UbuntuOne seems to be the most promising way of doing that automatically, however, I completely fail at accomplishing this seemingly simple task. I have NEVER been able to successfully back up my address book to UbuntuOne. Note: all other sync works fine. It's just Evolution that is seemingly smarter than I am. Thing I have done to solve the issue:
- Upgraded from 10.04 to 11.04
- All three steps from this article:

I've been trying to find a way to take a bunch of jpeg images and while maintaining their quality (no loss at all) compile them in such a way as to make one coherent file. Maybe something like a pdf, but while maintaining quality.
