What needs to be fixed for this to work?
Does anyone know how to start up Krusader in root mode when using Gnome? If I run it from the "Krusader Root Mode" icon, it does not ask for the root password and opens up in standard mode. I do not want to run my gnome session in root mode, since firefox will not run in root mode.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI user krusader for ftp, but it cannot remember remote passwords. every time i connect to the remote site i am prompted for the keyring password and after that the remote password. even if i tick "remember password", next time the password is asked.. why does it do that?
After upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10 krusader plays annoying sounds if i enter wrong password. sounds are disabled in gnome, but i know that krusader is an alien guy. how to tell him to keep quiet? why did sounds come with 10.10 ?
I'm trying to set krusader as my default file manager. I have gone into System Settings > Default Applications > File Manager and changed Dolphin to Krusader.
When I plug in a flash card the Device Notifier pops up and I click on the device inserted. The choices I get are Digikam, Dolphin, and Do Nothing.
I click on "Dolphin" (hard coded it appears) and it looks like Krusader tries to start. I get the cursor with the bouncing krusader mini-icon and an entry in the panel, but then nothing happens. It all goes away and I'm left with a blank screen (wallpaper, actually).
I've chosen Krusader from the menu, so presumably the arguments to it are good. I have KDE 4.3.3 and krusader 2.0.0.
Running slackware-current
The krusader slackbuild crashes on my machine with the following error, see attached.
I'm having a problem with krusader. When I open and close it, it remains with a sleep status. This can be verified by the system monitor and by the "ps aux". The krusader only go away if I use killall. This is occurring in more than one machine. I'm using squeeze gnome 64 bits.

"Application: Krusader (krusader), signal: Segmentation fault

I thought about trying to reset Krusader's settings. I don't know where to locate them. I would expect a .krusader folder unde my home dir, but it's nowhere to be found.
Can Krusader play .wav to notify the file/dir copying is finished?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn krusader (root mode), I want to edit a plain text file that can only be edited as su. When clicking on the file opened kwrite before, now I get this krusader error message: "KDEInit couldn't launch 'usr/bin/kwrite' OK"
Why is this happening? What's wrong? I've found that this problem begins on the second try to open the file-- for the first time clicking on it, kwrite opens it for editing but not on tries following the first one made in the same computer session. Rebooting fixes the problem but only for the first new opening of the file.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi am trying to download 7zip for 2 days but i couldnt. every time i finish with a worning from winzip page to buy it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis started after my upgrade to 11.3, if I remember correctly. I may have it slightly wrong because I don't drag & drop copy every day, but it's close. Also, it happened to my laptop & desktop both.
I use fish & Krusader to manage some 50-60 servers and it's a dandy app. But now, when I try to copy files to remote servers, I get the following error. I tried it with Konqeror. I tried it with sftp instead of fish. Same results every way.
I've tried searching, but it's not an obvious error message to search for. I'm flummoxed. And sorta frustrated. Linux would be so slick minus these irritating regressions. I had been using WinSCP / Putty, but the Terminal / Krusader I like much better --- except that WinSCP always works.
Here's the screenshot of my error. You can't see it through the blur, but the part that is baffling is that the top line says something like:
this action will overwrite fish://root@server:2222/ with a newer file fish://root@192.168.5.10:2595/.asterisk_history. Notice that the remote server doesn't even HAVE that file on its system.
Selecting Overwriting just freezes Krusader.
Its much better to use the good archiver such as rar, 7zip on uncompressed files (and not after crappy zip for eg. ).People often compress .iso files and similar that contain .cab archives.So, compression ratio would be much better if those .cab files were first uncompressed and then rar-ed/7zip-ed.I know it would be difficult, and dearchiver would need to re-compress to make .cab again (so it would have to include M$ algorithm and unpacking would take a lot of time) but its possible?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi'm curently compressing a big 100GB file with 7zip on a system with an intel 2,66Ghz quadcore processor. Allthough 7zip uses 4 cores to compress the file, it still uses only about 40% of the cpu performance. The cpu isn't doing anything else, nothing heavy anyway.
I started compressing 8 hours ago and the compression is currently 47% done. Reading and writing the files isn't very fast so my harddrive isn't slowing the process down.
So what's the holdup? There is still 53% of work to be done. Is it for some reason impossible to do this faster?
I have a 7zip archive and I would like to extract certain files from with it. Is there a way to do this without un-compressing the entire archive? I know these files exist in there because I am using the "7za l" command to view the files contained in the archive.

I have just given Linux a try for the first time and so far its not proving to be a good experience. I have so far just tried to install a couple of basic programs I am familiar with and ones suggested by Lifehacker.I wanted to install Tweetdeck, which meant installing Adobe Air. I duly downloaded Adobe Air but it then says I need to choose an application to open it. Assuming that the bin file was a zip file I looked in the software centre and found 7zip. Told it to load that but then couldn't find where it was. Its not listed in the Applications drop down (top right) so I found 'search for a file' and entered *7zip* to be shown 5 files. All but one appear to be a form of image file the other (7zip.desktop) isn't an exe either. Double clicking on it just gets me the following in something called gedit.
Name=7zip
Comment=7zip compression/uncompression tool
Terminal=false
Type=Application
[code].....
I then gave up and used google to find the program and download it, but just came across the same problem. Why oh why is there not some default program already loaded for unzipping files? How can I find 7Zip (I have already looked in the bin folder on the system drive but nothing there) and run it to tell it to make itself the default for unzipping files?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a self extracting file for Windows from Ubuntu 10.04 using 7zip.
I tried these commands:
7zr -sfx7z.sfx a output.exe *.txt
7zr -sfx/usr/local/etc/7z.sfx a output.exe *.txt
Both show this error:
Error: can't find specified sfx module
System error: E_FAIL
I have all the .sfx modules on /home/username/.sfx/ because I use them previously with "rar" and it worked fine, but it's not working for 7zip. I also copied 7z.sfx to /usr/local/etc/ to test the second command like shown here but I get the same error.
I'm an Ubuntu user since Jaunty, and I've always upgraded my system (NOT fresh install). Everything went fine, but yesterday I upgraded to Lucid. My only concern -for now- deals with startup time. I'm a desktop user (Core2@3GHz) so I think I should boot in less than 10 seconds. Anyway, boot time is 30 seconds - not too much, but there is definetly something wrong with tools I don't know (ureadahead, plymouth, etc.). Attached is my bootchart: can anyone explain me what's wrong?
Also, I don't even see a plymouth Ubuntu themed bootsplash: I only see a blank (black) screen standing for seconds, then I see the bootsplash for less then half a second, then GDM appears :S Not crucial -I know- but how can I fix it? (I don't know if it's related, but I can see the animation at shutdown)Finally, GNOME desktop takes too long to load. I don't know why, but there are 15/30 seconds in between login sound and a usable desktop (with panels and icons, I mean).Please help me, I don't want to do a fresh install. Boot speed is not a dial with desktops - I know - but it can be a symptom that my system is a bit a messy (and I don't like it, since I installed Jaunty less then 1 year ago). (!Forgot! I also installed grub2 by hand
I just want to know how to easily speed up my computer because it runs desperately slow. I am running windows Xp which is about two years old.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhenever I transfer a movie into my 16GB USB flash disk, my whole system becomes windows-like and unusable!
When i drag the file(s) into the USB disk folder, it starts out fine and pretty darn fast (25mb/sec) then slowly decreases until it's unbearably slow (3m/sec) and as a side effect my whole system starts deteriorating. I basically have to wait for the file to finish transferring before i can use my desktop again!
This has been happening with every version since Karmic (all 64bit)- I put up with it because I don't use the USB stick that much.. but lately it's been my go to source for transfering large files to/from work.
