Can I connect my Linux PC to the Internet with a Nokia E71? I've looked for answers elsewhere but everything I've found refers to file synchronization, sending SMSs, playing with the address book, etc. I just want the Internet!

I have a dell wireless wlan 1397 mini card with an ethernet 802.3. Now I am trying to connect by a wired connection. Supposedly a have a bcm5784m nic. I have tried to configue the bcm5784m which was shown it to be regonized through fedora 11, i could activate it, and connection still failed. In my driver list on my dell inspiron and studio 1737 the bcm5784m was not checked as a download i needed. What in the hell am I doing wrong. I have searched exhaustively and have found nothing concerning the wire ethernet card or bcm. Supposidly ubuntu does support the dell studio 1737 laptopForgive my spelling. Oh and by the way I am using kubuntu 9.04 jaunty.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs i describe the thread,i won't be able to configure my NIC to connect to internet which is basically done by just running system-config-network in shell to configure xDSL connection. But instead of system-config-network it contains system-config-network-tui which is used for ISDN connection. And after running system-config-network as well as system-config-network-tui it shows the same output which is in attach file
After some google search it shows that there is bug with system-config-network and it is fixed in system-config-network-1.6.0.el6.2-1.el6 but i wont be able to find it.
As i m not subscribed to RHN
Currently have ubuntu 11.04 installed and I must say that the gnome interface for NM is a breeze-just fill up my username and password and thats it.
I have been trying to get online in kubuntu(don't really like unity, and have wanted to use kubuntu for a long time)....but try as i might knetworkmanager just doesn't seem to be up to the job.
Or maye I'm doing something wrong...
I just installed Lucid Lynx Ubuntu on my computer. I love it, but I do not see how to configure my dial-up modem and connect. I'm hoping it's still possible. Here's my hardware.

US-Robotics 56K Faxmodem External
256mb RAM

I have a Nokia 1508i, and I want to use it as a modem. But I've tried many times, many configurations and it didn't worked.
When I connect it via USB to the computer, it's recognized as /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1.
When I try to connect using the Code: wvdial , I get the following message:
Code:
Modem Type = USB Modem This is the log of Windows when I connect:
Code:

I am running openSuse 11.2 on Acer Turion64 x2.
My wireless card is "Atheros Communications Inc. AR2413 802.11bg NIC (rev 01)".
For some reason, networkmanager can not connect to network at all.
In NetworkManager log, it is showing "kernel: [ 28.002378] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready".
I try to find out why it can not connect to network by using knetworkmanager.
Since two week the knetworkmanager needs 3 minutes after login to start and connect. On an other computer (x86) it works fine. What could be the reason for this? I use opensuse 11.3 x64 and yes i need the network manager. Ifup isn't practicable for me.I have read in some thread to start the networkmanager at boot time and as root, but i don't think this is necessary.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince my update to OpenSuse 11.2 knetworkmanager refuses to connect to WEP enabled networks (worked fine with knetworkmanager 11.1). I am sure that I use the correct password and I tried on 3 different networks. The manager is connecting to open networks and WAP protected networks without problems. I saw on other forums that there were similar problems with previous versions of networkmanager. But I could not find a solution for my problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedEven though I am not new to Suse, I am still very inexperienced, especially when it comes to wireless. I am running Suse Linux 11.3 and I am having problems connecting to my wireless. My network controller is a RaLink RT2500 802.11g Cardbus/mini-PCI (rev 01). I am recieving a signal from my wireless router, however when I try to connect to my ESSID via KnetworkManager It asks for a WEP key. After entering the key, Knetnetwork manager will try to connect for a minute or so and then it will ask for my WEP key again. It keeps repeating this cycle without ceasing. How to configure the WEP so that Knetwork manager will connect or a way around WEP.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just don't get it? I've attempted multiple times to get the knetworkmanager to connect to an unencrypted network, yet it keeps asking for a wep key. However the networkmanager in the Gnome version connects to unencrypted networks just fine. Why won't knetwork manager do the same?

4) Of course the headset is on pairing mode
However the pairing is always failing. In Blueman I get "Page Timeout", I also tried it with the other Bluetooth application which gives me the message "Setting up Nokia BH-503 failed"

View 4 Replies View RelatedGiven that Nokia have bought Trolltech, albeit quite a while ago now, I still can't see any native QT version of Nokia's software suite for their phones. Are there any plans in the coming year for a Linux version of Nokia's PC Suite software?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was looking for a way to get the same or similar functionality as the Nokia PC Suite on Ubuntu 10.04. I did find a discussion here [url].
However it is fairly old (2008). I was wondering if it is possible to get more recent information.
In the Ubuntu Software Center I find two applications that seem to fit the bill. I need to know which is better or are the complimentary.
Trying to move from Windows to OpenSUSE. I have installed OpenSUSE 11.2, and am having a hard time trying to connect to the internet using my nokia E65. I have tried to configure the modem thru YaST and it keeps showing that my nokia E65 modem is not configured, but adds another modem every time I configure using the edit button i.e. modem0, modem1 etc.
When i finish the configuration I get pop ups on the bottom right conner:
Notification from network management
WLAN interface attached
Network interface attached
But nothing happens afterwards. When I connect the phone it shows that it is recognized as a modem (probably). but when I click on the icon so it connects to my service provider "econet" it just says activating with a red x in the conner, and still nothing happens!
The following are the screenshots (still not sure how to attach files on this forum), may someone assist, with that too.
I really want to move from Windows but this is what's stopping me. the sooner I connect to the Internet through my phone, the sooner I leave Windows, since it's the only way I can connect to the internet.
I have tried wvdial, and I got the following:
Can I use my Nokia N95 to connect my notebook to my home router (I am talking WLAN of course) ?
Tried Googling, but always getting results for sharing 3G/GPRS/EDGE from phone to PC.
I need to get WLAN capabilities on my notebook using N95.
