Given that Nokia have bought Trolltech, albeit quite a while ago now, I still can't see any native QT version of Nokia's software suite for their phones. Are there any plans in the coming year for a Linux version of Nokia's PC Suite software?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was looking for a way to get the same or similar functionality as the Nokia PC Suite on Ubuntu 10.04. I did find a discussion here [url].
However it is fairly old (2008). I was wondering if it is possible to get more recent information.
In the Ubuntu Software Center I find two applications that seem to fit the bill. I need to know which is better or are the complimentary.
Trying to move from Windows to OpenSUSE. I have installed OpenSUSE 11.2, and am having a hard time trying to connect to the internet using my nokia E65. I have tried to configure the modem thru YaST and it keeps showing that my nokia E65 modem is not configured, but adds another modem every time I configure using the edit button i.e. modem0, modem1 etc.
When i finish the configuration I get pop ups on the bottom right conner:
Notification from network management
WLAN interface attached
Network interface attached
But nothing happens afterwards. When I connect the phone it shows that it is recognized as a modem (probably). but when I click on the icon so it connects to my service provider "econet" it just says activating with a red x in the conner, and still nothing happens!
The following are the screenshots (still not sure how to attach files on this forum), may someone assist, with that too.
I really want to move from Windows but this is what's stopping me. the sooner I connect to the Internet through my phone, the sooner I leave Windows, since it's the only way I can connect to the internet.
I have tried wvdial, and I got the following:

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow do I get internet connection through mobile broadband (internet stick Nokia CS 15) for my laptop (Fujitsu Siemens) with encrypted hard disc (LVM)? I have set up LVM using Ubuntu 10.04 Alternate install.
Earlier when I installed the ordinary desktop version (Ubuntu 10.04 desktop) using no encrypted disc the internet connection worked fine. Before I installed the software from the internet stick an image appeared (Nokia Modem) on the desktop. I dubbel clicked the image and through the files that appeared I installed the software. After that I clicked the Eject Volume and after some input I had my connection.
But now I dont get that image on my desktop when the stick is plugged in. I can imagine that I have to mount the stick some how. I can further imagine that the encrypted hard disc through its protection now stop me from this action.
I am in Germany right now, and for the internet, I have given a USB Stick: mobilcom-debitel Surf-Stick, XS Stick W14. The problem is, the files on this stick all have .exe extension. I tried to use Wine to make them work, but Wine says that they are not marked as executable. So I tried to change that, but I got a message saying that the files are "read-only", and I cannot make that change.
PS. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
I have been using Mepis on a dual boot computer for over a year. I want to give ubuntu a try so I made a bootable usb stick from ubuntu's live cd. Everything works as advertised even saved files and changes. I can't connect to the internet. I am connected via a 2wire modem to a linksys router thats connected to my computer through a ethernet cable. the router is for connecting my son's computer. Anyway I have no problems connecting from windows or Mepis. Whats strange is I can even connect when booting directly off the Ubuntu live CD.
When I try connect when booting from my usb stick I get a can not connect error. I am using the auto eth0 function and everything appears fine. I compared my settings from when booted from the Ubuntu live CD and they are Identical. I used network tools and I can ping my IP address but when trying to ping a web address I get the can not connect error. I am beginning to think ubuntu has my USB stick confused with a CD but not sure how to correct it. Here's some additional INFO:

Connection is Ok but when I try load any page it gives message "server not found". Some times it can load a page after many trials. Reconnection does not help. I am sending this message with same stick using Xp in same room so the problem is not in the stick itself.

I just bought a new USB DVB-T receiver: Elgato EyeTV for DTT.
In the following chart:url
it is listed as supported out of the box, which is not the case.
When I connect the stick, the only message I get is the following:
May 13 00:15:26 micasa kernel: [16969.930122] usb 2-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4
So I guess I will need to mess up with patches, kernel modules, firmware files, etc.
Please, is anybody using this receiver or the Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-T (which is said to be a clone)?
Although my Huawei e200 usb stick is working well under ubuntu, its not working in openSUSE. I think the udev rule provided by the vendor is suited for a debian system and not for openSUSE. When i see the dmesg output, it adds driver for ttyUSB0 and as soon as it adds it also removes it. This sequence goes on continuing till i unplug my usb stick from my computer. The udev file(78-haier.rules) provided by the vendor is as follows:
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEMS=="usb",
ATTRS{idVendor}=="201e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="1008",
ATTRS{bNumInterfaces}==" 1",
RUN:="/usr/sbin/haier.sh 201e 1008"
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEMS=="usb",
DRIVERS=="option",
ATTRS{bInterfaceNumber}=="00",
SYMLINK="ttyMODEM"
The haier.sh script that the udev runs is as follows:
[Code]...
# may not use this driver if the product id is already compiled into another driver modprobe -a option echo "0x${VID} 0x${PID}" > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id
I have a Vodafone (UK) PAYG USB stick (Huawei K3565 v2) which worked perfectly out of the box in 10.10. I also installed Betavine Connection Manager but never actually needed it. Since upgrading to 11.04 the stick won't connect. When I plug it in I get a green flashing light then a blue one but it never registers with Connection Manager. Nothing I can do tweaking the settings seems to make it work either.
