Software :: Flash Player Fails GNU?
Feb 3, 2010
Why our men cant workout a Free Flash Player which we can use? I am a free software enthusiast and not a programmer. Except NVIDIA driver and Adobe Flash Player I am use only free softwares for years. Not even Dual booting windows. All of our programmes are excellent ones and suited for almost all the computing needs of a user like me.

When I try to use wget or install anything that uses wget to install (flash player plugin), it fails, as my IT admin blocks direct access to IPs. I see wget takes the domain and resolves it's IP and then downloads (atleast thats how I get it?), and then I get "connection refused". Is it possible to force it use the domain and not the IP?

I am trying to update Flash-player and yast2-core as prompted by today's update icon.
I am now faced with a loop that goes like this:
1) click on icon
2) window pops up, "2 packages selected"
3) click on apply, subwindow pops up
4) click on continue, "waiting for authentication"
5) after minutes of waiting, click on cancel, nothing happens
6) click on icon killing subwindow
7) now back to 2)
Aborting the process, starting at 1) again, same mess
Conclusions:
a) No idea what was going on
b) Use Yast instead of clicking update icon

You may know that there was a security release for Adobe Flash Plugin for Linux x86 but not for x86_64. There has been a development:
See : http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html
It works fine here. I have a Multilib Slack 13.1 stable.

I just want to play mp3s - podcasts - from the web. MoviePlayer which works, will not allow me to move the slider to skip to a new place in the MP3 file. RhythmBox just shuts down when I start it. So it's DOA. We know? Did I miss an update? Not supported? I'd like to play from a website, but the website has a link to the audio and a "flash" player, and I don't want to go through the mess right now to install flash.
I tried to look for FireFox plug-ins to play, but when I tried one, it installed some gstreamer stuff and then it didn't work anyway. So, do we have a working Firefox plug-in that someone can recommend to play MP3 audio directly from the web with a URL to the MP3 file? Oh and skip around in the file by clicking a slider. Failing that, and maybe also, do we have an MP3 application that plays local MP3 files and allows you to move the slider to skip around in the audio.

I have installed and reinstalled flash player several times, but nothing works. What happens is anytime I try to play a flash game, the audio lags about 2-3 seconds. When I play a flash video, there is only very, very little lag. This problem also happened while I was running ubuntu.

when pdf files didn't load into firefox (problem still not solved), i tried to remove mozplugger, of which there were two instances in plug-ins. i first though flash-plugin was the culprit, so i removed it. but it wasn't. so i removed nsdiswrapper and then, i could remove both mozploggers (same version) i*still had icedtea, and itunes application detector, which i*found no way to remove since there is no file name associated with it in add-ons, plug-ins (rather weird, if you ask me).
so i reinstalled mosplogger, flash-plugin 32 bit and nsdiswrapper (i*don't remember in which order) and now not only pdf files don't load in firefox, or any viewer, but i can't watch flash even at videos, which is rather reliable flash-wise. i receive this error message:
you need to upgrade your adobe flash player to watch this video.
i*still have 2 mozplugger instances.
what's my next step? i*checked google for this error message and found nothing relevant.
p.s.: flash-plugin is, of course, the latest release:
flash-plugin-10.1.102.65-release.i386

I've upgraded my system from opensuse 11.2 to opensuse 11.4. Everything went smooth except one problem.Firefox does not run the flash (i.e. ..... videos for example). The weird thing it detect the flashlibs. from aboutlugins:
Code:
Shockwave Flash
File: /usr/lib/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so
Version:
Shockwave Flash 10.2 r153
On other side, konqueror runs flash vdeos without any problem. My system is 32bit.

Flash isn't working anywhere, and haven't done so properly since I first installed Ubuntu 10.04 a month ago. I have been able to make it work for a short period of time, by doing the following:
1. clearing the cache and the cookies.
2. installing the correct plug-ins for my system.
sometimes when I do this, Flash will work for a few minutes. what can I do to resolve the problem completely? the Flash plug-in I have is the Adobe Flash plug-in, version 10.1.82.76ubuntu0.10.04.2.

Using firefox 3.6.13 on 8.04. Doing aboutlugins shows Flash 9.xxx installed. So, natch, does the drop down. I can disable Flash from the drop down, but can't remove it! Using terminal I type in
Code:
sudo apt-get remove --purge flashplugin-nonfree
and get message back saying that the plugin doesn't exist. Certainly can't remove something if it isn't there, now can we?
50 how-tos all have same command line, and it fails me. What next? I am more than happy to remove firefox, but I know that when that happens, all the plugin in info will say behind.
