I encountered a problem when send dbus method call message.Program A which runs as root user provides system-wide dbus service interfaces.When another program B with root permission send method call message to A,It received the error info:Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.41" (uid=0 pid=3397 comm="dbus-send --system --print-reply --type=method_cal") ...But when I run prgram B in generic user permission,localmachine for example,it success to send message.It confused me all the day.

Each time after boot, I have to wait for proximately 2 minutes before Firefox starts showing any web pages. when I connect my iphone (3GS, 4.3.3) to Fedora 15 it gives me this error: Unable to mount iphone
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus). The weird thing: after looking in var/log/messages it appears that it is trying to be used by NetworkManager. And when I lookin NM, i can see iPhone as an ethernet device (cable unplugged).

I have a mail server taking care of mail for my 4 domains; the first is used for virtually all mail, the second rarely used anymore, the third is virtually 100% spam the past year(?), and the fourth isn't in use (and never has been, so no spam). What I'd like to do is to reject all mail to the third domain. Right now this is what I get (I tried to send to a nonexistent address from gmail):

Since my username (xyz@) is the same for all domains, I could (or so I hope) change the reject message to give a hint to replace [URL] with [URL] and try again.

What does this error message in `/var/log/auth.log` mean? It's showing up at about a rate of 1 per second. My indicator applets are missing as are my status bar icons. The desktop icons are flashing on and off at a rate of about 1 per second.

A little prior to this I installed Wine beta using Ubuntu Software Centre, then applied the multiuser wine recipe as noted here [URL] /showthread.php?t=917422&), then installed a game called ToonTalk3 [URL], and then tried to install DirectX 10 as per these instructions [URL]
The directx install stalled with a series of messages about being unable to copy certain dll files. I aborted the install, using the install wizard's abort command. It was a bit after this that I noticed the flashing symptoms. They may have been there earlier but I usually run my apps full screen so wouldn't have noticed.
I've reversed the wine multi-user configure, again using the recipe, and run `sudo apt-get purge wine1.2`, and logged off and on. The flashing and errors still occur.During logon there are bunch of indicator applet error message dialog boxes (which I'll post later after finishing this message and conducting another log off/on cycle). I'm running Ubuntu 10.4 LTS 32bit on an Acer Asper 3500 notebook. The install is about 2 weeks old.

Hi I am running a fedora 10 desktop. when i send an email using evolution the message was not sent but returns a error message:"Error while performing operation.DATA command failedError: 550 Viagra SPAM - Hi in Subject" and the message did not have an attachment just plain words. what might have gone wrong for i have been using this for sometime without a problem. or what security measures should be in place to remove this viagra spamAm I infected by virus on this fedora, all my updates are up to date.

I recently updated my iPod touch to the 4.2.1 firmware. So I get the usual
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) Error. Yes I've tried the old "sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade"
but that was to no avail. way to fix this? Now click 'back'.

do have installed glib and dbus and can find them manually , /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib.h , but while comipling applicaiton it gives following error messages.

I have been trying to send some messages from my Debian GNU/Linux to my Canaima GNU/Linux, i have tried with write: write user@host
But it says user is not logged in, apparently the write daemon have to be running in both machines to do this.
And i wanted to use talk, but i should install it in both machines ¿?
The thing is that i have like 10 machines i wanted to send messages to, but i cant find an easy way to do this.
Is there any other way i am missing? or it has to be the "hard" way

I'm using Thunderbird under Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. I'm managing to send messages to other newsgroup but not to alt.os.linux.ubuntu. It says:"A News (NNTP) error occurred: You are not allowed to post to alt.os.linux.ubuntu". Does somebody know what is wrong and how do I enable sending messages to this newsgroup?

i have a client and server program in C. in that program server is requesting some parameters from client (like systems up time, total memory, no of process running etc).for this i used switch statements. but the problem i am having with this is that,

Let's say there are machines A and B. user1 is on machine A, and has access to machine B through ssh (also as user1). user2 is sitting at machine B (let's say in Gnome session). And user1 has sudo access on machine B. How can user1 send a message to user2 (so it should appear on user2's desktop) with notify-send? code...
This doesn't work. I get in result:
(notify-send:28676): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
What else should be done to make it work? (trying it on current Debian testing).
