Software :: Anjuta IDE Not Installing On SL6?
Jun 28, 2011
I downloaded the el6 version of Anjuta from [URL]
I am trying to install it using yum, but I keep getting dependency errors. How do I satisfy these dependencies on Scientific Linux 6?
Below is the error, and my active repolist.
Code:

I've been wanting to write a small program for personal purposes in GNOME using Anjuta. I've noticed something strange when I start a new project. I have various options, a GTK project, SDL, XLIB, and GNOME Applet, but no GNOME project? I have the GNOME development libraries installed as far as I know, but the option to create a GNOME 2 project just doesn't appear.

i have been working with fedora for a long time because i was unable to get anjuta 3 working on ubuntu as well as GTK+ 3,facing a huge list of problems after reinstalling it around 3 times and unable to get my new mouse working on GNOME. My question is will anjuta 3.,GTK+ 3.0 as well as all the required packages be able to run/installed on ubuntu?

I wish to try the Anjuta IDE - I am running wheezy. Using Synaptic, libsvn1 is marked for installation, but produces a warning message that it is not authenticated.
I have seen other posts regarding this issue and would not want to be left with a broken system! I have also tried installing libsvn1 on its own and get the same message.

I am new to using Linux (Debian) and I wanted to install an IDE that covers all languages (C++, Java, SQL) so I decided to try Anjuta, but when I entered a simple "Hello World" code and tried to run it, I noticed that the Build > Compile selection was grayed out. I read on another forum that Anjuta can only compile projects so I switched to Geany, same problem. Do I have to install a compiler?

I've gone about as far as I can with this without trashing my system. I'm running Mint 10 LXDE with XFCE.
Ultimate objective: Install latest Anjuta 3.0 from source (not yet in repos). Anjuta ./configure reported a need for updated packages, such as GTK 3.0, Glib, Gio, etc. I downloaded GTK 3.0 and 'config' reported a need for an updated Glib. So I downloaded that and have installed it successfully (no prefixes; from home dir.)
But now GTK config is stating that it has found two versions of Glib, which I guess makes sense since I made no attempt to replace the old one. So, what is/was the proper way to replace the old Glib so there is only one version, or, is that a bad idea? Will some software still be dependent on the old Glib, or do the devs make the libraries backward compatible? Where do I go from here?

I need it to install and run CUDA applications (nVidia proprietary GPU API) and I need 4.3.x, but F12 ships with GCC 4.4.x. I thought it would be compat-gcc something, but that installs 3.x.x and I want 4.3.x

Now I know there are loads of tutorials on the net, but I did have my share of tryings and failures and I have to ask for your help now. Please note that I am a complete Fedora novice.I am running a KDE Fedora 13 32 bit. I want to install JRE 6. I have the jre-6u22-i586-rpm.bin file. I checked several tutorials, each different to the other. Some of them point out that running the script file would be enough. Well not in my case.
I run the chmod a+x jre-6u22-i586-rpm.bin ./jre ..... I though this command only changes permission to access files, however I do read on some tutorials that the installation should start upon that command, that "Terms" page should appear to me... well none of this happens. No output at all. So I use the sh command. I do get asked about terms, accept and install. In the tutorial @ oracle, it says that this should be it. Well, not here.java -version just ouputs "Unknown command"I did even manually edit the etcprofile file and added
JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_21
pathmunge $JAVA_HOME/jre/bin after
, also JAVA_HOME on a line the export line below.Still no change. Its getting really frustrating, as every tutorail says different, but whatever I do I cannot get JRE running.

I probably missed something as I come from 11.2 but I downloaded a few rpm (like opera and crossover).
upon installing I right click, select install/remove software and up comes KpackageKit telling me its going to install the rpm. Fine I think, then a new window opens showing me the progress and I see it's installing loads of items I previously removed. For example I have de nvidia repo but I did the drivers the hard way, KpackageKit now installs the repo drivers again. I removed pulseaudio and nouveau but KpackageKit installs them again while it install the opera or crossover RPM. None of these packages are dependencies for the 2 RPM I want to install and I can easly remove them via yast.
the only way I can seem to be able to install these 2 RPM's without getting all the stuff back I removed earlier is either manually from the command line or I make a repository of a local directory and use yast that way ?

If you are installing the JMF Performance Pack for Linux
* Change directories to the install location.
* Run the command % /bin/sh ./jmf-2_1_1e-linux-i586.bin
However, it's #3 that I'm asking about:
3.IMPORTANT: You must finish setting up JMF by following the setup instructions included in the JMF Implementation Documentation.
Then it gives this page: Linux instructions and it talks about:
3. Set your CLASSPATH path to reference the JMF directory. For example,
setenv JMFHOME /home/someuser/JMF-2.1.1e
setenv CLASSPATH $JMFHOME/lib/jmf.jar:.:${CLASSPATH}
4. Set your LD_LIBRARY_PATH (shared libraries path) to point to the JMF libraries. For example:
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH $JMFHOME/lib:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}
I checked for setenv but all I got was the location of the manpages. I would need to run JMF mostly when I make animations using Art Of Illusion.I'm running SuSE 11.4

I made the mistake of eagerly adopting 10.04 as soon as it came out; and while 10.04 itself is running really well (I'm writing to you from it now), my 9.10 install (which, before you ask, I didn't install over!) has gone wrong! I'm a bit of a Ubuntu noob, so I don't know exactly what's gone wrong. All I really know for sure is that it comes up with an error while trying to run up giving me the option (amongst others) to run in 'low graphics mode' - but unfortunately this just brings me to a console, and the other options (I think they're to use a previous working version, or reconfigure) don't seem to work at all.
Is there a way from the command line to just reinstall all the gui bits? Is that going to mess up my install even further? As it stands, I'm stuck at just copying my stuff off my 9.10 partition into 10.04 (which granted, isn't the end of the world).

anyone installed a tiling window manager successfully and want to share their knowledge?

I use an Acer Aspire One netbook for work, with Ubuntu 10.10, and am very happy with it. Unfortunately, I now have to use certain music teaching resources for which I have to have Windows. I have a copy of XP Pro, and want to load it as a dual boot if that is possible. I have searched on Google, but everything seems to relate to loading Ubuntu after XP, rather than vice versa.
