I must have accidentally hit something and as a result the panel at the bottom with the KDE menu and so on is gone. I can recreate widgets and panels but not as the default menu bar at the bottom of the screen. So, now everytime I push something in the background, I have no way to recover it. How do I restore the original default menu bar/panel?
View 11 RepliesEverything was working fine and on a new session the panel and bottom bar are no longer showing. I am running xubuntu latest version, with compiz fusion and emerald. I always have to reload windows when i start as I have made it default (perhaps thats part of the pb). Just before it disappeared I installed new updates from the automatic updates. i know i can still access pretty much everything from the right click but the pb is that i can only run one application at a time. as i cannot flip between them nor does the cube or alt tab work.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had this problem with all installations of Maverick Meerkat. Moving the default clock from the upper panel to the lower panel makes it bahave strangely. When clicked on, it now appears in the middle of the screen (sometimes even higher depending on resolution). This never happened prior to Maverick Meerkat.
How do I go about to fix this strange bug?

I go to applications -> settings -> panel
I can choose between vertical / horizontal / deskbar.
I'm using Lucid Lynx and need to remove the bottom panel from the GDM login screen. I can remove the panel once logged in but it still appears on the login screen (showing a clock and choices of WMs, etc). I want my end user to see nothing on the login screen but my custom background and the box where he types his username and password.

I like to remove them completely so my Dock dominate the screen. At the same time i like to bring both the bar later if i need them.

View 10 Replies View RelatedSo about an hour ago I put my computer on standby. For whatever reason I couldn't bring it back so I restarted it. It works fine except now Ubuntu has pushed my display down. This means that the bottom of my tool-bar on the bottom of the screen is cut off, and there's a black bar on the top. I'm using a T.V. screen so there is no way I can manually adjust it. I also plugged my desktop back into an old monitor and it was off-center downward too.

I may have clicked on something, but my bottom tool bar totally disappeared and I'm not sure how to get it back. Before it disappeared, none of the windows I had opened were showing up on it either.
To reiterate, I'm not sure what I clicked on to make it disappear, for the most part it just did... :-/
I was using the 9.10 distro and just upgraded to the 10.04 distro. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it either.
I've been using Ubuntu for about 5 years now. I just installed it on one of my neighbors computers.I tried deleting an applet from the top menu bar and the entire menu bar disappeared. I click on the add new menu bar and it just throws something up on the side. I'm using 10.04. I never had this problem before.

I installed the xfce4-quicklauncher plugin from a tar file in Slackware 13.37. It is showing as installed in gslapt, but it is not showing in the xfce panel's "Add New Items" menu. (see attached images) I tried rebooting and a few google searches. What must I do to get the xfce4-quicklauncher plug-in to appear in the xfce panel's "add New Items" menu?
