Ubuntu :: Difference Between 10.04 NBE And Easy Peasy?

Apr 26, 2010

I'm using NBE on 10.04RC, I've just seen Easy Peasy 1.6 on Distro Watch so ran the live CD out of curiosity. Apart from Gimp I cannot see any difference between Ubuntu 10.04 NBE and Easy Peasy, have I missed something? Menu etc looks the same.. don't look at menu on their website as that's the one based on 9.04 [URL]

This is part of the release note:"Features: new boot system and new boot artwork (uses Plymouth); sports full removal of the HAL package, making EasyPeasy faster to boot and faster to resume from suspend; brand-new interface; built-in integration with Twitter, identi.ca, Facebook and other social networks with the MeMenu in the panel; the likewise-open package, which provides Active Directory authentication and server support for Linux, has been updated to version 5.4; new default open-source driver for NVIDIA hardware; improved support for NVIDIA proprietary graphics drivers".

Ubuntu :: Cannot Install Wine - Easy Peasy 9.04?

Apr 13, 2010

I am running Easy Peasy 9.04 on an EeePC 901. I am trying to run Wine in order to install a wireless client for my university- they blocked Linux from ALL wireless because they have no one to support Linux (I.E only a windows client, no iPod or iPhone support, as they used to have). I want Wine to get me on the network while being able to work using Easy Peasy.

1. Will Wine allow me to use the wireless network in this way? When I try to install Wine, using the WineHQ guide [URL]...I have tried to "trust the repository", install Wine with sudo apt-get update and all other instructions. I just keep getting:

W: A error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used.GPG error: http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 40976EAF437D05B5 Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key <ftpmaster@ubuntu.com>

General :: .bashrc Ubuntu Eee Easy Peasy The Specifics Of An Alias?

Oct 21, 2010

I successfully edited the .bashrc file to get ruby version manager (rvm) working. Now I would like to turn that setting into an alias so that if i type the word 'ruby' into the terminal it not only goes to the rvm settup but also defaults to my webdev folder which is in my user home directory and also exicutes a command that will open up gedit ready to be used as the text editor for editing the .rb files. Can this be done i would settle for some added code for the 'if then' statement: so far it looks like this:

[Code]...

I don't want to mess with the default setup on this system too much and think things could get out of hand if i am not careful. So am cautious about doing anything at this stage. I wonder if it is possibel thought to setup that whole 'if then' statement as an 'alias'. I read a few referances to alias and looked in the manual like any good newby should but am needing your help please. getting out of the MSwindows mind set and into the linux logic is not so easy but is a great experience

Ubuntu Installation :: Unr Installation Instead Of Easy Peasy

Mar 7, 2011

I'm using an EEEpc 1000HE with Easy Peasy (Intrepid) that a friend installed for me (no Windows). Since as far as I understand the Intrepid servers are down, I want to update to UNR. I have never installed Linux before and don't really know anyone who can actually show me how. This is the computer I use for my studies and it is extremely important that my files will stay on through the upgrade (I have a separate partition where my important files are saved).

Ubuntu :: Default Panel Clock Shows Up On Middle Of Screen When Moved To Bottom Panel?

Mar 4, 2011

I have had this problem with all installations of Maverick Meerkat. Moving the default clock from the upper panel to the lower panel makes it bahave strangely. When clicked on, it now appears in the middle of the screen (sometimes even higher depending on resolution). This never happened prior to Maverick Meerkat.

How do I go about to fix this strange bug?

Attached is a screen shot of what I mean.

Ubuntu :: Panel / Bottom Bar Disappeared On New Session

Aug 25, 2010

Everything was working fine and on a new session the panel and bottom bar are no longer showing. I am running xubuntu latest version, with compiz fusion and emerald. I always have to reload windows when i start as I have made it default (perhaps thats part of the pb). Just before it disappeared I installed new updates from the automatic updates. i know i can still access pretty much everything from the right click but the pb is that i can only run one application at a time. as i cannot flip between them nor does the cube or alt tab work.

Ubuntu :: No Window Titles In Bottom Panel?

You know how window titles appear in the bottom panel, and you can re-maximize minimized windows by clicking on that window title?ell, those window titles are no longer appearing. So when I minimize a window, I don't know how to bring it back. The bottom panel is still there, with the "show desktop" and the trash can icon on it.But no window titles.nd I don't have any idea what I did to make this happen.

Ubuntu :: Bottom Panel Of Desktop Went Haywire?

Jul 19, 2011

My computer freaked out, and started opening new windows in the bottom panel by the thousands. The windows didn't open in the main desktop, but the bottom panel filled up with new window icons and kept filling so fast the whole panel became a slithering, pulsing mass of rapidly opening window icons that compressed to the max to fit in the panel. I opened system monitor and both my CPU cores were at nearly 100%. I ran top anda process called something like "gnome-panel" was at the top of the list with over 50% CPU usage. I ran kill on the PID of that process, and got a bunch of funky popup error messages about the panel reloading (never seen that before), and I was able to finally get the panel to clear out. Now nothing shows up in the bottom panel even when I open a window for Firefox, or open a folder on the desktop. I know there are still open windows, but they don't show up in the bottom panel. Even after restarting the computer nothing shows in the bottom panel. Any ideas on what I killed and how to get the bottom panel back to normal?

Ubuntu :: 10.04 (64bit) Open Programs Not Appear In Bottom Panel

May 15, 2010

I just freshly installed 10.04 (migrated from 9.10), and the first thing I noticed is that in my bottom panel, the applications crashed ("quit unexpectedly") right after the first boot: the workspace switcher simply disappeared when I tried to change its preferences, and "Show Desktop" crashed without me doing anything (I got the little popup window that allowed me to reload or not). Now, I reloaded them and they're there, but none of my open programs appear in the bottom panel.
