Slackware :: KDE Keyboard Layout Switcher Closed Unexpectedly

Nov 13, 2010

I have installed slackware 64 current in my PC from an ISO CD I downloaded from one of the mirrors. Everything was all right exept I wanted to get the last upgrade doing : slackware update slackware upgrade-all When I tried to reboot I had a black screen after X server started. Then I decided to edit xorg.conf to it's default before I installed the NVIDIA driver. So I got my screen back. I reconfigure my desktop running NVIDIA setting to the resolution and font I prefer. But my keyboard layout is still querty when I configured it to azerty. When I run system settings and Regional & Languages I get an error :

Quote:

KDE keyboard Layout switcher closed inexpectedly....report this error....

How can I enter command key to change the keybord layout to French ?

Ubuntu :: Svn: Network Connection Closed Unexpectedly

Jul 20, 2011

As the title implies, I'm having an issue with svn, whenever I try to make an svn action, I get: svn: Network connection closed unexpectedly

I've done some Google-fu on this, and the obvious culprits don't seem to be at work. Specifically, the svn server does not use a nonstandard port, and I'm not using Tortoise SVN or putty, just going directly from the command line. Additionally, I was able to use the server as recently as this morning and no coworkers are having problems.

Slackware :: Get Rid Of Unicode Console Fonts And Keyboard Layout?

Nov 23, 2010

I use Slackware 13.1. So far I chose during the installation of the system lat2a-16.psfu.gz font and my applications worked well in console mode. Now the same applications with the same font display gridded rectangles instead of some diacritical characters. In /etc/rc.d/rc.font I have standard setfont -v lat2a-16.psfu.gz command:

/etc/rc.d/rc.font:

Code:

setfont -v lat2a-16.psfu.gz

In /etc/rc.d/rc.keymap I have standard loadkeys pl2.map command:

/etc/rc.d/rc.keymap:

Code:

if [ -x /usr/bin/loadkeys ]; then /usr/bin/loadkeys pl2.map; fi

Standard setfont -v lat2a-16.psfu.gz command reports for some reason loading of the Unicode mapping table:

# setfont -v lat2a-16.psfu.gz

Code:

Loading 256-char 8x16 font from file /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts/lat2a-16.psfu.gz
Loading Unicode mapping table...

[code]....

I examined /etc/rc.d directory but I didnt find the setting switching the console to the Unicode mode. The same with env and set commands outputs. I tried to overwrite Slackware 13.1 /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts/lat2a-16.psfu.gz with lat2a-16.psfu.gz file provided in kbd packages from Slackware 12.2 and 11.0 but the results were the same. I suppose the problem is caused by improper handling of the system settings by the kernel but Im not sure.how can I get rid of Unicode console font and keyboard layout and come back to ISO-8859-2 font and keyboard?

OpenSUSE Install :: Keyboard Layout Constantly Resets To Another Layout In OSUSE 11.3?

Aug 9, 2010

I have installed opensuse 11.3 a couple of weeks ago in 2 computers and both suffer of the same problem. In my asus laptop, i have a german keyboard. It is correctly recogniced as german keyboard by ev-dev, i guess. (ev-dev managed). But i need to write some spanisch symbols too, like accents (á © í ³ ? ñ¬ ·hich in a normal linux, they do work. For some reason, after rebooting, or after some time of having it running, the keyboard layout resets to an invalid setup, here accents get not over the letter (?a ?e ?i ?o ?u), so i have to select my layout again in the gnome control center.

With my other computermore or less the same. Its a desktop PC with an spanisch keyboard. But i thinck i picked German keyboard during installation and now it starts always with german with some sort of 5 secs delay when setting it. I have to pick spanisch and i always delete the german layout, but after some time having it running, it resets to the previusly deleted german layout.

Ubuntu Servers :: "Error: Server Unexpectedly Closed Network Connection"

Feb 22, 2011

I have a problem between a jail root (so a group of users can access through sftp to Apache directory (var/www) an not get out of this directory.

1. I have the group 'sftponly', I need to access / var / www for sftp (read only)

2. On the other hand I need that user www-data (Apache) is the owner or at least have write permissions in the same directory (/ var / www)

The problem comes when the two needs together, as from what I read, to do jailroot in a directory is necessary for the owner is root and any other user has write permissions on it.

If along the jailroot with write permissions then attempt to connect to the client via sftp throws me the following error: "Error: Server unexpectedly closed network connection"

Permissions system User/group/Others doensn't work to me, so I tried it with ACL, but I have the same problem when I grant write permissions to the apache user.

Does anyone know how can I do for the user www-data can have write permission in the Apache directory and be able to create a user or group of users who are "locked"in this directory to enter sftp?

Ubuntu Security :: Pgadmin3 Through Ssh Tunnel - Error Connecting To The Server: Server Closed The Connection Unexpectedly

Mar 1, 2010

I'm using Postgresql 8.4.2-2. I'm trying to remote into my server securely. I figure I could do so with ssh. Apparently I figured correctly, as per, [URL] and [URL] I setup the ssh tunnel. ssh -L 5432:serverip:5432 Then I setup pgadmin3 to connect as follows:

host: localhost
port: 5432
user: postgres
maintenance db: postgres

And I receive the following error:

An error has occurred: Quote: An error has occurred: Error connecting to the server: server closed the connection unexpectedly This probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request.

I'm not sure what the problem is. I can connect with Code: psql from the cli after connecting to the terminal via ssh. So I know that I'm using the correct password.

So how do I install this thing? I've even tried from the System/Administration/"Install Ubuntu 9.10" option on the livecd top menu, but get an error: "Sorry the program "ubiquity" closed unexpectedly" there is nothing that explains the installer not running in either dmesg or /var/log/messages. If the livecd can boot, why does the installer not load. I am selecting the "Install Ubuntu" option not the try it without installing option.

Ubuntu :: Window List / Keyboard Application Switcher?

Nov 7, 2010

Any of you ever heard of OS/2 WARP? My dad is a longtime user, as was I until I got my Mac (and now my netbook with Ubuntu). In any case, the OS is a tad...obsolete and my dad at some point wishes to try Ubuntu. In his current setup, he has a "Window List" that can be activated using a keyboard shortcut. It's a popup (not in a menu bar or "panel") that can be moved around and resized. From that you can use your keyboard to navigate to the program or window that you want. For instance, if I want to get to Firefox, I press Ctrl+Escape (to activate the Window List) and then I hit "F" as many times as needed to highlight "Firefox". Then I just hit "Enter" and I'm there. Anything similar out there for Ubuntu (it is preferable if the solution has text as well as icons or else can have the icons removed leaving only the text)

In addition, both him and I would be interested in some program for launching/switching to programs using keyboard shortcuts. On the Mac, I use Quicksilver for this, where it actually Launches the program if it's not open, and switches to it if it is. However, Gnome Do unfortunately lacks this functionality and I have no way to do it off the top of my head.

Ubuntu :: How To Set The Keyboard Layout

Jun 6, 2011

I installed Ubuntu 11.04.

how to set the keyboard layout.

I keep using the rescue cd because whenever I choose a keyboard layout the system does not seem to keep it like that.

After rebooting it loads another layout and I can't find which keys to type in that unknown layout. So for the moment, my password is 'tt' because I know it will work in both layout.

I have a belgium azerty keyboard. For the moment the upper option in the keyboard layout screen is USA and the lower option is Belgium. Which is weird since I thought that the upper option was of higher priority. But at least it works like that. At least until I reboot I think

PS: the rescue cd has also a keyboard layout problem. I chose belgium and I end up with a usa layout.
