View 2 RepliesIf I ssh from my laptop (running F10) to the server (centos 5.2) it asks for the password, but everytime I enter the correct password it says incorrect password. when I do the same from the server to my laptop I can get in just fine. I think my passwords are stored as ssha in the LDAP (I tried clear passwords and that dosen't work either).

Unfortunately, due to RM limitations, every user who accesses the site has write access UNLESS they are logged in as a user named "guest". I currently have Apache allowing only the users (sysadmins) in an LDAP group access to RM, but I would like to allow read-only access for other users as well.I found mod_authn_anon, but I am having trouble combining the two authentication methods. I am using Apache 2.2.18 (compiled myself) on SLES 11.1.

But if I have both of the previous blocks enabled at once, then guest access does not work. If I throw in a "Satisfy any", then I am not prompted for a username at all. How can I allow access to this LDAP group and to a user named "guest", but not allow all valid LDAP users to log in?
I've been using CentOS for quite a long time, and I've recently switched to Ubuntu 10.10 as a desktop. I'm having one small stumbling block, I can't seem to setup LDAP authentication via a GUI. I found this post here.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLDAP authentication problem on debian squeeze? To my knowledge, I have everything setup properly to do ldap authentication + local authentication on a host. I can login as a local user. I can login as an LDAP user.
When I log in as an LDAP user, my primary group is set properly. It is an LDAP group. I can change the group ownership of files to LDAP groups using chgrp. So far so good. This all works as expected. The commands getent passwd and getent group work wondefully, and generate the expected results. I can newgrp to any *local* group, but if I try to newgrp to an ldap group, I get the following error:
setgid: Operation not permitted. I've tried googling and asked on #debian on irc.debian.org. No luck.

Just installed openldap server on a VM CentOS called 'ldapsrv', it works fine, ldapsearch returns all ldap information.

we have a weird problem with our opensuse 11.2 server installation.
We want to set up a LDAP Server using the Yast-LDAP Server configuriation tool.
This indeed already worked weeks ago until....this week.
Maybe some updates??!
I do not know what happend exactly. The server just does not want to start again and throws following error:
Starting ldap-serverstartproc: exit status of parent of /usr/lib/openldap/slapd: 1 failed
This happend after a little check of the configuration, but without a change, with Yast. Google delivered only "reinstall your box"-answers.
So.. i did that. And now the "mystical" part: The SAME ERROR occurs with a fresh vanilla system with a brand new and simple configuration (certificats, database, pw...the first Yast config dialog...). I did not change the way i set it up.
I remember, when i did this the first time with 11.2 on that machine, when no problems occured...everything was running out of the box (except the "use commen server certificate" option...).
I'm wondering how I can enable LDAP support for my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server running Apache 2 and PHP 5.3.2? What I'm trying to do is allow users on my existing company's LDAP system to login to my Elgg site automatically (and possibly have their details filled automatically).

When I run an ldapsearch in root, it works fine. tcpdump filtered by dest IP shows packets captured.
When I run an ldapsearch in a perl script as root, it works fine. tcpdump filtered by dest IP shows packets captured.
However, when I run it via a perl script in my cgi-bin directory it fails. tcpdump shows no packets captured. When I added a "2>&1" to my ldap search in my cgi script, I got "ldap_bind: Can't contact LDAP server (-1)".
I ran a "whoami" in my cgi script and it showed up as apache.
Another twist to all this is that I ran the same test on my slackware box, and everything works (esp the cgi script). Here's what the specs are on that machine:

Could there be something blocking the apache user on my Red Hat box from sending packets out?
I installed CentOS 5.2 and then run yum update. I configured this server as LDAP/Samba primary domain controller. LDAP seems to be OK and for testing I am able to create users with:smbldap-tools useradd -am usernameI can ssh into the server as root and also as a Linux user which was locally created in the server. But ssh into the server as LDAP user fails (from a Fedora 11 machine) with "Permission denied, please try again", prompting again for password.Some data:

I am having problems creating ssl certificates for use with openLDAP. Does anyone know a good centos tutorial as I am having problems finding ones by searching through google and the forums.
To clarify further I have a small network im trying to setup to use ldap for auth due to the size I figured using kerberos for auth would be a bit overkill.....
I have the server up and running fine however at the moment all auth is done by using clear text (which is fine as the network has no connection to the internet at current) however in the future it will so I am trying to use ssl however I am having confusing as which certificates I point to where in the slapd.conf file

I can add the client PC (Windows XP SP3) with the Domain Admin user (Manager) from the client PC, but when i try to add a user I get this message "The trust relationship between this workstation and primary domain failed", so as it can be added later I ignored this message and choose 'close' and reboot the PC. 2. Since the login screen is showed, the message 'Duplicate name exists on the network' appears. So I try to log on with a valid domain username and password after pressing ctrl+alt+del and get the error message: "System cannot log you on because domain rmprb is not available"

I've installed Directory Server (LDAP). The setup has been done according to the tutorials online. Able to access the interface as well. So far so good. The issue I have is with permissions. I can assign file permissions to a user created in the Directory Server ( user not created on the local server). But the same can't be done for a group - alteast the way I currently see it. How could i assign file system rights to a group created in the directory server.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am installing Big Brother on a CentOS 5.2 running the default Apache 2.2.3. When I try to access any web page I get the following error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /bb/ on this server. Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at fmsubbnix Port 80 So far I have:
1) Set the Directory options to FollowSymLinks
2) Verified all directory and file permissions are at 755
3) Set permissions temporarily to 777 and received same error so I am assuming the issue is in a config file somewhere
4) in hhtpd.conf verified <Files ~ "^.ht"> is correct
5) verified the "default" directory is correct (/var/www/html)
I have read and tried several ideas in posts listed on the web but to no avail and am at a loss as to what to look for next..
