I'm Trying to setup Sendmail to work with my domain in my server which is :
Code: Linux Centos 5.4 My server can send mail locally to users in my Linux Box and it can receive mails from yahoo and other mail providers in the web, but when i try to send mails to yahoo or others it send me some mail delivery message which is :
I've got a home server running Ubuntu Server 9.04 and several machines running Ubuntu Desktop (9.04 and 8.04) and Windows (XP, Vista and 7). Now what I want to do is to create a domain and directory server similar in function to Windows Server w/ AD and join my other machines to the domain, but am not sure where to start. I already have file shares with Samba but now I want to setup a domain.
I have a Centos 5.5 Server, Servername is CentOS1. It has a Forum and a HelpDesk. The Help Desk software SENDS and acknowledgement to the user and emails to all the people on the support desk. Users can reply to emails only by accessing the helpdesk NOT by mail. Thus the server is configured to only SEND mail and not to receive any mail at all.
Mail Server is Sendmail. Hosts file reads : - # Do not remove the following line, or various programs that require network functionality will fail. 127.0.0.1CentOS1.tech.xxxxx.com CentOS1 localhost.localdomain localhost ::1localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6
There is NO MX Record because this server receives NO mail, it's send only. Unfortunately, the mail it sends has a From Header which is @CentOS1.tech.xxxxx.com. I want it to send from @xxxxx.com. I've read all the howtos on Masquerading and I've tried many, many things, but with the same results. It will NOT change the From. I had it working perfectly a long time ago with a SuSE server, but I can't for the life of me remember what I did. I know I also battled a bit.
The last few lines of sendmail.mc read : - LOCAL_DOMAIN('localhost.localdomain')dnl dnl # dnl # The following example makes mail from this host and any additional dnl # specified domains appear to be sent from mydomain.com dnl # dnl MASQUERADE_AS('xxxxx.com')dnl dnl FEATURE(masquerade_envelope)dnl dnl FEATURE(masquerade_entire_domain)dnl dnl MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(localhost)dnl dnl MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(localhost.localdomain)dnl dnl MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(CentOS1.tech.xxxxx.com)dnl dnl MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(CentOS1)dnl dnl MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(tech.xxxxx.com)dnl MAILER(smtp)dnl MAILER(procmail)dnl dnl MAILER(cyrusv2)dnl
I've tried each one of the MAQUERADE_DOMAIN in turn, none of them work and yes, I have remade it.
I want to block a domain name in sendmail server. I added the domain name and "REJECT"in /etc/mail/access file. What has to be done for the changes to take effect? when i run make command in /etc/mail dir i get following error : make: Nothing to be done for `all'.
I am using sendmail. I want to apply sendmail restriction so that nobody cannot send any mail to other domain.my domain name is msp.net E.g. 1. rahul.com 2.kumar.com I want to send mails only above two domain only.if any user want to send mail to other domain. It should be not reach. What should I change in sendmail.mc or in my firewall?
I have sendmail installed in my home machine and also dns is configured and also I have configured mx for mail server. My dns is unregistered and my question is that can I send mail to external account like yahoo or gmail to check whether my is working or not.
From my main Postfix SMTP heads, I am sending just a couple select emails (primarily support emails) off to a server that receives them and pipes them into the support software. So far this totally works perfectly and I am pretty happy with the configuration. However, in order for sendmail on the support server to receive those emails I have to place them in the virtusertable of course, but I also have to activate their domain in the local-host-names file. That then causes sendmail to consider itself as the destination server for that whole domain. Is there a way to make sendmail receive email for select addresses without making it think it's the server for the whole domain? This server is only receiving email from two specific smtp servers, so I wonder if I could just permit relaying? Wonder if that would just cause a giant loop though.
I have a server "test1" in domain [URL]. I installed sendmail on it. I have another mail server "mailsrv" installed in [URL] which is my primary mail server and contains all accounts and mailboxes. Now when I send email to [URL] from [URL] it sends successfully. But when I try to mail to user1@abc.com it tries to search user1 in [URL] but I want it to forward this mail to mailsrv.abc.com over SMTP port. Delivery will then be taken care by [URL]
My log shows following
Code: Apr 9 18:37:06 test1 sendmail[7512]: o39Db6Hs007512: to=user1@abc.com, ctladdr=root (0/0), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=30047, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (o39Db6Il007513 Message accepted for delivery) It should not go to relay=[127.0.0.1], it should go to relay=[10.10.10.1]
We have a Windows 2K8 domain with Exchange 2010. I have setup a Ubuntu Server to be used as an internal wiki. Installed AMP on it and have MediaWiki running. Now I would like to setup SendmailToWiki extension. The only problem is that I do not know how do I make sendmail to work inside the LAN her with the Exchange server? This is the extension: [URL]
The e-mail address that is used in the extension is dynamic(changes for every user, since each user sets its own pinkode). And the script sets the domain part off the email to the last part off the IP of the ubuntuserver. For example: wikipost+2.12345@62.85. I cant send an email to half of an IP, can I? What I need to configure or not?
I used Zimbra since a week ago to my centos 5 server, but now I'm using google apps. Today I tried to uninstall Zimbra and restore sendmail, but when I try to send a mail to local domain, it responds with an unknown user message and don't deliver the message to google mail. What I forgot in reconfiguration?
I am trying to setup a sendmail server on my dedicated server. It was pre-configured to use exim from cpanel. Is it possible to use exim for all emails from a a certain domain i setup on the server and sendmail for others?
ex. domain1.com -> exim domain2.com -> sendmail
If it is possible can someone let me know how i would go about doing this? If it is not how would i disable exim and use sendmail for all mail?
Having some issues setting up sendmail on a (basically) blank RHEL 5.5 server setup. My ultimate goal is to be able to automagically send logs / errors / notifications to ourselves from the server.
Our basic setup is a Win 2003 domain with exchange running on mail.domain.com.au.
I've edited the '/etc/mail/sendmail.mc' and added the :
Code:
line to it.
Also added the domain (domain.com.au) to the '/etc/mail/local-host-names' files
Also edited submit.mc and added
Code:
When I try and send a mail from root or a test user to one of the domain accounts, it seems to go fine, i.e no errors are reported but it never gets delivered.
From the mail logs:
Code:
So it seems to be sent to the queue no problems and when I check the queue :
Code:
Total requests: 0
Not nothing ever gets received. Am I missing something? I have read and read and read but dont seem to be getting any furthur.
So in the end this server doesn't need to do anything except be able to send mail from root to an external mail address.
I am trying to set up a mail server on centos5 using sendmail and dovecot, and eventually spamassassin and some antivirus filter as well. I'd also like to get the proper secure auth mechanism set up at some point too. But for starters, I've been having a lot of difficulty trying to even connect to the mail server from a client computer in the local network. I installed Eudora on the client and after some tweaking in dovecot I was able to connect to the mail server, but then when I try to send an email I get a "connection refused" error, with nothing being logged on the server that I can see.
The last time I set up a mail server was Fedora Core 2, so the configuration files have changed a bit to say the least, and I can't really refer back to those to set up this new server. Does anybody know of a good step-by-step doc on getting the mail server going? I've read the man pages and other various readme's, but these really only list out the available options with no really good explanation of what needs to be done to get the mail server going. If there isn't a full write-up on how to do this, I'll put something together when I'm finished so others can use it in the future.
I am trying to make my webserver a well respected email sender and it appears to me that using DKIM is something I need to do.
I have no experience with this and would like to know if anyone thinks there are issues that I should be aware of before going down this path.
Also, I have not been able to find any good, STEP BY STEP, documentation on how to set up DKIM with Sendmail.
I am also not sure if you need a certain network configuration for DKIM to work...this is what I am working with:
My webserver (centos 5.3, sendmail 8.13.8) sends outgoing mail and has a valid reverse DNS that matches a forward DNS. The MX records for my webserver's domain point to a third party email provider who handles the incoming mail for that domain. I added an spf record that signifies it that my webserver is authorized to send mail for mydomain.
Is anyone can help me how to setup sendmail ( Centos 5.2 ) as mail relay for Microsoft exchange. I will put the mail relay in DMZ and Mail server in Local Network.v
I wish to setup an email server, using sendmail and DOVECOT on F13 With no modification of the DOVECOT config file ( fresh installation ), I can see that :
service dovecot restart shows me : service imap stop service imap start
The problem is to make sendmail use different LDA for diferent users in the same domain. For example, deliver bob@some.domain with procmail and genry@some.domain with mail.local.
I'm trying to set up an mail filter for our domain. At the moment we're using ClearOS as the filter, works OK but I still get something through and the blacklist and whitelist doesn't seem to work. I was hoping to set up a mail filter on my own, using Spamassassin and/or something else. It seems I have to buy subscription at ClearOS to make it update better or something. I might just do that, it's just tempting to find a way to do it on "my own". I tried to follow these instructions but I don't seem to go anywhere... ...I began with setting up the base server as it is shown there. I've setup quite a few Linux servers, mainly as firewall/gateway kind of things but also some DNS servers, web servers and so on.
I have one mail server and the mail filter is supposed to be on the outside to filter mail before it hits the mail server.
I am setting up a CentOS box as a NAT firewall that needs to also send mail. It needs to send this mail using an outside provider's SMTP. The provider requires SMTP over SSL. None of the machines inside the NAT will ever send mail except via the provider's SMTP nor will they ever receive mail except to local clients via the provider's IMAP servers.
So for the example the machine is TESTMACHINE. There is one internet facing ethernet port connected to a DSL modem via pppoe.
The SMTP it needs to send mail via is mail.host.net which requires SMTP over SSL (port 465) and username/password authentication.
The sendmail documentation is quite confusing on how to get this simple setup operating, so an example showing the appropriate changes to sendmail.mc and other require config files.
Location and syntax of named.conf in Ubuntu's version of BIND 9. I already have an HTTP server (in the form of Apache) along with forum software set up on my Acer netbook. However, the only way I can access the forum software is if I type in my IP address. How do I set up my named.conf to get the IP address to redirect to a domain? I already have my resolv.conf configured to allocate a domain to the IP address, but testing the ping of the site returns a "No such domain" error.
i have registered two domain names that i want to use to connect to my ubuntu server. I was wondering how to do this i was looking at bind9 but that didn't work that great. The server is behind a router with firewall i can connect to it using the external IP address but i like to use the two domain names if that is possible.
I used fedora12 builded mail server uning sendmail and dovecot at my home, when I at home everything are works fine, no matter I sent email to hotmail, or hotmail sent to my mail server, but I got the problem that I can't access my home server when I at office, the error messages as below:
#telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 110 -ERR Cannot connect to POP server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:110), connect error 10061 #telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 25
[code]....
P.S there is no firewall between the my office and home

Does anyone have a link to a tutorial on how to set up a DHCP server and SAMBA as a windows domain controller? I can't really find good detailed guides by searching google.
