I recently setup a server running subversion. It is working well and all, but I am curious as to how to make it send out email alerts to my team when a commit occurs.Also, are their any good GUI tools to manage a subversion server in Ubuntu. The command line is fine since I made some scripts but a nice GUI would be great! Maybe that could be a fun project to work on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently been asked by my boss to implement Email alerts on some Backup scripts to be sent to me and another person. I edited one of the Backup scripts on a mail server and they appear to be working without problems (i.e., the backup job runs successfully and I get told so via E-Mail). However, when I implemented this script onto another, non-mail server, it would not send E-Mail confirmations. The only server that is allowed to send Emails to the outside world is the mail server, so I did not expect the script to work without any fine-tuning.
However, I thought I could direct the non-mail server to send an E-Mail through the mail server. I just can't find out how to do it. The servers are running Ubuntu 9.04 64bit. The mail server is using postfix and dovecot for email, and is also the DNS server for that particular network section. The non-mail server should be installed with the default server install (exim4). If possible, I do not want to install any new programs on either server. How to get the non-mail server to use the mail server to send out E-Mails?
just set up a windows server and other windows boxes send alerts to it no problem.Yesterday I configured my linux box (RHEL 5) using /etc/sysconfig/syslog and /etc/syslog.conf so that all alerts would go to the syslog server.There are no external firewalls involved and while the firewall is working on my linux boxI have made sure port 514 TCP/UDP are let through.Ive checked syslogd and klogd are running.I've also applied the '*@10.20.30.40' line in etc/syslog.conf. Basically Id like everything to go to the syslog server.Now if I telnet to the syslog server on port 514 I can type text on the linux box and it comes through on the syslog server. Great - but no syslog alerts seem to come through normally, even when I reboot the box.I've tried *., .*, and * to no avail, ive got an entry in my hosts file for the server 10.20.30.40 and tried using a name instead of an ip address, no luck.

For this graph, it's only work for ~3 cycles (15min), then... nothing.

My question is, how I can install additional mibs ( for Cisco, Procurve, etc ) for other hw I could have ? What is procedure. I browsed debian package base and I could not find some more packages related to snmp that could supply more mibs.
We have a situation where we have to set up a server to send traps with information regarding CPU, memory usage, etc. I know snmpd can be set up to allow another process to request snmp information about the server, but can it be done the other way around (have a host send information about itself to another server through snmp)?

Next I try to cmpile using mib2c highCpuUsage. it's give template code for that. I read all the tutorial and copy in /mibgroup and restart snmpd service and try snmpwalk ,snmpset but it�s not work and in var/log/messages its give Out of Memory: Killed process 8005 (snmpd)
If I made a distro from scratch it would have been Lubuntu, cept I'm sure my theming would have been horrible. Now Ive installed on a couple of my Laptops, and even had a few friends convert, and for the most part everything is hunkus doris, cept one small issue thats keeping me from slapping it on my trusty laptop. I'm lost as to what the problem could be. Ive tried just about all I can think of, but I use sprint mobile broadband to connect to the net and then use Network Manager to share this connection with the laptops and Palmtops around the house. I can get my sprint modem to connect thats not a big problem the problem is now I cannot get the Auto Eth0 to connect to send out as a share. It just refuses to connect. Now this is not a Lubuntu problem at all Im sure its somehow a Lxde problem, as Mint Lxde, PeppermintOS, and so on do the same thing, refusing to connect Auto Eth0 while Sprint is connected. Any Gnome based distro this works flawless, as does Xfce distros, so Im sure this is somehow something within Lxde. Im sure its down to just "missing" a file or some stupid overlooked thing.

Assume that domain is organization.com.local And it is running fine with users created and bugzilla running on the same machine can send mails using this server. But it can obviously send messages to the internal users. There is this option to configure it to use external mail server to send mails outside the network but my external smtp server needs an authentication.Is it possible to configure it this way to use my external server to send mails from internal domain to say gmail?

I have a client that is across the internet that is having trouble getting files from my tftp server. A tcpdump reveals that the client is requesting the same file over and over again. In /var/log/messages, I am see the following error repeated over and over until the client finally gives up.
