I installed MRTG some hours ago. Everything works fine (disk, cpu,..), except the network graph.
For this graph, it's only work for ~3 cycles (15min), then... nothing.
This is the part of mrtg.cfg:
Code:
The number for eth0 is 3
Code:
SNMP is running:
Code:
Crontab is configured for mrtg (and seems it's not the problem because the other graphs works well):
Code:
In attachement is the graph for the memory (working!) and .. for the network, as you can see, only one small pic at the beginning.
I am running Redhat linux 8.0 with 2.4.22 kernel. I am using this server for traffic shaping my static ip clients using tc. There are about 250 clients and I am running mrtg to monitor traffic via cronjobs each 5 minutes. When mrtg run I see too much packets loss in my network. What could be the problem in my server? RAM is 1gb and processor is Intel Pentium D 2.66GHz.
recently i have installed Squid Server and i want to monitor traffic in my lan with mrtg. so i have installed snmp but when i run "snmp -v 1 -c public localhost" i have got "Timeout: no response from localhost". i have turned off the firewall but i get same error.
I was following the installation guide of SNMP client and server [URL], but when I do an apt-get install snmp scli tkmib the /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf is empty with nothing inside..
I am using orion snmp monitor in my network and I have no problem with windows systems but linux systems have some problem first of all snmp monitor shows cpu load on 100% all the time that is completely wrong and secong my snmp monitor can just show cpu and memory and response time information of linux systems and not disk information and nothing more. this is my /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf file content:
com2sec paranoid default public group MyROSystem v1 paranoid group MyROSystem v2c paranoid group MyROSystem usm paranoid group MyROGroup v1 readonly
I wanted to know if i can install mrtg on a client computer in network and measure the network's router traffic.i know that it can be installed on the server.
i have done most of the setup for MRTG network monitor tool.
But i m stuck at configuration part.
the actual MRTG guide says following.
I m little confused about what should i put inplace of community@router.abc.xyz.
Quote:
The next step is to configure mrtg for monitoring a network device. This is done by creating an mrtg.cfg file which defines what you want to monitor. Luckily, you don't have to dive straight in and start writing your own configuration file all by yourself. Together with mrtg you also got a copy of cfgmaker. This is a script you can point at a router of your choice; it will create a mrtg configuration file for you. You can find the script in the bin subdirectory.
This example above will create an mrtg config file in /home/mrtg/cfg assuming this is a directory visible on your webserver. You can read all about cfgmaker in cfgmaker. One area you might want to look at is the possibility of using --ifref=ip to prevent interface renumbering troubles from catching you.
If you want to start rolling your own mrtg configuration files, make sure you read mrtg-reference to learn all about the possible configuration options.
I have nagios and pnp4nagios installed and running fine. I have some snmp data that's monitoring an ASA5510.
I have the both the Data In and Data Out varibles, which go into individual graphs. Now I know that I can put the 2 data onto 1 graph, such as this graph: [URL]
I just don't know how to do it. I have in nagios the info here:
define host{ use WAN-devices ; Inherit default values from a template host_name firewall ; The name we're giving to this host alias firewall ; A longer name associated with the host address 10.x.x.x ; IP address of the host action_url /pnp4nagios/graph?host=$HOSTNAME$&srv=_HOST_ }
I'm using munin to monitor our servers. Recently I created additional partitions on one of them and I noticed that munin has not picked up the changes.
I restarted munin-node and running the plugin manually as user munin on the machine
Code: $ munin-run df I get all my partitions Also when I telnet 10.1.1.25 4949 and run
Code: fetch df I'm getting all of them. The graph however displays only the ones that were there at the time of munin install.
How can I get munin to add the new partitions to the graph ?
I need to generate graph for Huawei AR4620 router . As I don't know the MIB for CPU USAGE I cannot create graph for CPU USAGE of Huawei Ar4620 Router. But I can create graph for Interface Traffic for Huawei AR4620 Router.
I've problem to access snmp devices through nat. Some devices I can access others not ...All are the same devices...What I see that I have problems it the device has logical interfaces and I want access with snmp to the logical interface...
I would like to monitor a RedHat via snmp. I would like to make available data via snmp. The data that I would like to graph are only present in logs file. Is it possible to parse data from applicative logs and have them available for my cacti server via snmp? I already monitor CPU, mem, and others with cacti using the standard MIB.What would be the logical step I would need to achieve that?
I am trying to configure SNMP server using xinetd on red hat. I am using non-standard port for it. My connection to server fails. I see the following log messages in /var/log:
Jan 26 17:23:31 [userid] xinetd[15023]: START: my-snmp pid=15047 from=192.128.11.21 Jan 26 17:23:31 [userid] xinetd[15023]: EXIT: my-snmp status=1 pid=15047 duration=0(sec) Jan 26 17:23:32 [userid] xinetd[15023]: START: my-snmp pid=15050 from=192.128.11.21 Jan 26 17:23:32 [userid] xinetd[15023]: EXIT: my-snmp status=1 pid=15050 duration=0(sec)
can anybody help to point out what is wrong in my config?

I am looking to build a dedicated syslog-SNMP server with remote web interface and I would appreciate a discussion from our community on recommending the best solutions to deploy. I would like to be able to create an opensource architecture I could easily duplicate for multiple stand-alone customer environments.
I have debian Lenny as an server I would like for monitoring of some network components ( switches, printers, routers ... ) and at
/usr/share/snmp/mibs I have /usr/share/snmp/mibs# ls -l total 1844 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 17455 2008-12-16 18:22 AGENTX-MIB.txt -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 36576 2008-12-16 18:23 BGP4-MIB.txt -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 36959 2008-12-16 18:23 BRIDGE-MIB.txt .... ls -l | wc -l shows 66, what means 66 differen mibs.
snmp related packages I have installed are as : dpkg -l | grep ii | grep snmp ii libgsnmp0 0.2.0-2.1 an SNMP library implementation based on glib and gnet ii libsnmp-base 5.4.1~dfsg-12 SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) MIBs and documentati ii libsnmp-perl 5.4.1~dfsg-12 SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) Perl5 support ii libsnmp15 5.4.1~dfsg-12 SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) library ii snmp 5.4.1~dfsg-12 SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) applications ii snmpd 5.4.1~dfsg-12 SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) agents
My question is, how I can install additional mibs ( for Cisco, Procurve, etc ) for other hw I could have ? What is procedure. I browsed debian package base and I could not find some more packages related to snmp that could supply more mibs.
We have a situation where we have to set up a server to send traps with information regarding CPU, memory usage, etc. I know snmpd can be set up to allow another process to request snmp information about the server, but can it be done the other way around (have a host send information about itself to another server through snmp)?
My Objective is to add Private MIB and compile that file and perform snmpget and snmpset operation. My MIb file contain this macro
[Code]...
Next I try to cmpile using mib2c highCpuUsage. it's give template code for that. I read all the tutorial and copy in /mibgroup and restart snmpd service and try snmpwalk ,snmpset but its not work and in var/log/messages its give Out of Memory: Killed process 8005 (snmpd)
Does anybody know why isnt anything on the /var/log/boot.log file. After the boot I saw some services that fail to load and looking for more detail data on the boot.log file I couldnt found anything this file is empty. This is My syslog.conf file:
I'm trying to write shell script to use etc/init.d In fact, my application has written by java and I have made the fat.jar (etest.jar)file as executable one and after I wrote the small script to run it background (etestruner.sh) that is,
