When i starts it for the first time,my sites getting loaded fast when requested through browser,but slows down gradually. what could be the reason, my cpu load seems ok. Because i have another site hosted through apache in the same server and its getting loaded fast. so what could be the issue.
View 1 RepliesIn the past week or so I've noticed some weird network behaviour. I find accessing some sites such as Amazon, Paypal, and Bigstockphoto really slow. Sometimes the page will not load at all. Other sites are fine. The problem sites are not a problem for others on my LAN at home. When I try to open the problem sites, I can see in Firestarter blocked connections coming from 2.1(8/9).xxx.xxx on various ports such as 36007. This only happens for the problem sites. I attached a typical output from firestarter.
This happens with Firfeox or Chrome. Using Ubuntu 10.10
i installed phpmysql on F12 and it keeps prompting me for a user name and password. i tried login in with my root password but it does not permit me. How do i bypass this please. Also Aache wont let me view other locally hosted sites on my derver directory. restricts my permission.

View 14 Replies View RelatedFor a while now I've got a problem when surfing the internet. Everythings fine for let's say 15 minutes and then all of a sudden it takes about 1 minute to load a -random- page, once it has loaded, everthing's fine again. Transmission does not seem to have this problem. I'll double check this. Looking thru the forum I found the following "solutions". None of which has worked for me up to now:
- disable ipv6 in firefox
- set method under network manager to "Automatic (DHCP) addresses only" and use google or OpenDNS dns servers
- change resolv.conf (comparable to the second one I guess)
Yesterday I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 . Everything is fresh new but my I can feel some lack of speed in the desktop and sometimes if you look really hard on the monitor you can see that screen is trembling a little bit. Not long before, the system freeze up and I had to manually force reboot.
I think that the root of the evil might be the integrated graphics from Intel Core i5 2500K processor. What's your opinion ?
I have just installed ubuntu 10.1 along side my windows xp. It installed nicely and boots up promptly. When I try to go to a web site, it takes forever to load. It can take up to 1 minute to load a page. Why is that. I thought that Linux was supposed to be faster. When I go back to windows, I don't have this problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed openSUSE 11.4 (64 bit) on my system and am experiencing severe performance issues with websites using https (any site using https). Page loads over https take anywhere between 30 seconds to 2 minutes. It's the same issue posted here Secure sites load slow or not at all -- there was no confirmed solution.
- My router/hardware configuration has not changed in a long time and I've run Ubuntu, Arch Linux, and Windows XP on the same machine within the last year and have not had any issues.
- I also have a laptop running Arch Linux (kernel 2.6.38) and this problem does not occur using Firefox 4 or Chrome. To add to the madness this problem occurs while running Firefox 4 inside a Windows 7 guest via virtual box, but NOT while running IE 8 inside the same guest.
- This issue occurs using Firefox 4, Chromium, Opera, Konqueror, and Arora.
- I've disabled ipv6 in Firefox via about:config.
- I've disabled ipv6 in yast and have attempted to use both the "ifup" and "networkmanager" options.
- I am not using a proxy server.
- I've attempted the fix posted in the Ubuntu forums for a similar problem [ubuntu] [SOLVED] Banking Site is very slow.
I am using lucid has anybody experience that Firefox is slow to open sites ?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi compiled and install postfix, and i using relayhost that point to my ISP. but my "DNS server" is on the same server where is installed postfix. and there is running apache with vhosts so i have domain that hosted on same server and in zonefiles of my domain my MX records points to Google Apps, to google's MX servers. But when i try send E-mail via sendmail to mail@mydomainonsameserver.com it not deliver mail to Google Apps totally, if i try to send to another E-mail everything fine it deliver it. so finally i done research this problem in Internet. And find that need to disable deliver mail to localhost(localdelivery)as i think postfix understand that the domain point to the same server where postfix have itself. and try to deliver mail local. but zonefile MX record even the domain on same server can point to another server outside. So i disabled localdelivery in postfix. and problem not fixed

Some sites (particularly https) take very long time to load . Sometimes I get "Page is taking a long time to load . Reload the page later" message.
Now , this is happening for some http webpages also.
This is not a problem with browser.
I have firefox , chrome , chromium and konqueror installed.
Also I can access all these sites properly from windows so it is not problem with my internet connection either.
Is there any way to figure out where some domain is being hosted?

Scenario is like this I have three virtual redhat server(R1,R2,R3) 5.0 on VMware workstation 7.0 installed on window 7(physical machine), on R1 I have DNS server , On R2 I have Apache web server and I have hosted a website called "geekgadget.com" just for testing purpose, R3 is just a normal server nothing installed on it yet..
Problem : I can access my website [URL] from all of my three virtual redhat server but when I try to access it from some of my physical XP,window 7 machines as well as from virtual XP machine present on my local LAN, website cannot be accessed so I am not getting the point why it happens because I checked that my port 80 is listening.

I am having a web server (apache) and 3 sites are hosted in it, named as www.web1.com,www.web2.com and www.web3.com.
I need to restrict www.web2.com to Internet users and allow only to local network. At same time I need to allow www.web1.com and www.web3.com to both Internet and LAN users.
I have a site hosted on a cheap hosting company and I need to allow write access to certain users in certain directories, sometimes on a file basis.
Q: how do I do that in a .htaccess file?
I have never used .htaccess although from what I read it looks straightforward but when I try it, I get a "500 server error" even with the example .htaccess file the hosting company suggested I use. (I have informed the host as they require and am awaiting their answer)
