Nov 16, 2010I need to show an output of the command "show interface status" executed on a server side in new window on client side. In other words: on client side web browser page I would like to have a link which I can click and get output of command "show interface ... status" in a new window. On web server script has to connect to switch/router, execute this command and send output to client window.
where to look, and, may be explain, what can be better for this purpose? I need a clue, because I have newer done it before. It should not be snmp, because I want to view many different outputs and snmp wont help me.
Security :: Iptables -L Does Not Show In-interface Or Out-interface?
Feb 26, 2011When I do...# iptables -L...I see rules in my INPUT and OUTPUT chains that look scary:ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere...but these rules only apply to the loopback interface. I tested it and the server cannot be reached on open ports from the outside world. How can I make iptables show the interfaces that the rules apply to?Otherwise, every time I do iptables -L it will scare the crap out of me.

Mar 4, 2010I have to implement hardware redundancy.I have 2 linux machine for this and each have similar configuration/hardware. Lets say two machine Linux1 and Linux2. Currently Linux1 have one NIC and it has 4 IP address bind on it. Now I have to down the Linux1 and up Linux2 with same Ip addresses.
Could it possible to configure all the Ip (same)address on both Linux1 and Linux2 and Linux1 have eth:x status UP while Linux2 have eth:y status down.
I am trying it but on Linux2 machine I cant able to create multiple Ip interfaces with down status.
Ubuntu Servers :: Server 10.04, One Interface Not Brought Up On Boot?
Jan 7, 2011I'm having an odd problem with Server 10.04. I have two interfaces but only one interface is brought up on boot - and it's not always the same interface. Usually eth0 fails and eth1 comes up fine, but sometimes eth1 fails and eth0 comes up. I'm using the same config that was previously used on Server 8.04, but never had this problem on 8.04.

Once the system has booted, if I run /etc/init.d/networking restart, then both interfaces come up fine. However, having read that this is now an upstart, I also tried service networking restart, but get:

Don't know if that's significant or not.
Cannot find a single problem with networking reported in log files, other than bound services failing to start as a result of the interface not being up (dansguardian, squid, dhcp which are all bound to eth0, and therefore fail when eth0 doesn't come up. And when eth1 doesn't come up, the only process that fails to run is clamav-freshclam). Although at one point I did see something about interfaces being renamed which seemed a little odd.
I could just have networking restarted automatically once booted, but this obviously isn't a solution to whatever is causing the problem. There is quite a bit running on the server: Samba/LDAP domain controller with roaming profiles, squid & dansguardian with LDAP auth, postfix & dovecot with LDAP auth, mailscanner, dhcp & ddns, strict iptables policy with nat... so I'm not sure if any of those could have any bearing on interfaces?

Oct 18, 2010I had installed apache previously on my system, and I think I uninstalled it completely, although remnants might have remained. I have just installed zend server ce php 5.3, and I am having trouble getting it to work. When I log in to the admin interface, it told me it couldn't start the webserver, so I go to restart apache, and it gives me this:* Starting web server apache2 Syntax error on line 6 of /etc/apache2/sitesenabled/zendserver_gui.conf:Invalid command 'php_admin_flag', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configurationThis has to do with php_mod some how... but I am not sure how to fix this, or where to start, since I am relatively new to actually setting up apache.I thought this might have something to do with libapache2-mod-php... so I went to reinstall it, and ran this:

Fedora :: Lightning Does Not Show Up In Thunderbird Interface
Mar 2, 2010I have thunderbird-lightning rpm installed but it doesnt show up in thunderbird. In fc11 with thunderbird 2 it was on the left bottom of the screen I think. I checked all the settings tabs but I can't find any reference to lightning. Is this a bug or is there something I have to do to see it? For now I'm using the standalone app sunbird but I really like to have the integrated lightning back in thunderbird. I also tried the lightning plugin from the plugins tab but it complains it's not compatible with gcc3 or something so I guess that's why there is a rpm package.

Mar 7, 2010Ever since I connected my MP3 player to ubuntu the music I put on it doesn't show in the players interface. The actual storage device seems fine and if I delete music off it removes it fine also. Basically, the problem is the MP3 player isn't now recognising new music being put onto it. This is also happening on my XP computer, the player was working on Vista a few days previous. Could it just be a coincidence my MP3 player breaks as soon as I start using Ubuntu or what do you think?

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Linksys WUSB600N And 11.2 - Ifconfig Doesn't Show A New Network Interface
Jan 24, 2010I have a laptop running 11.2 with an internal Broadcom-based Wi-Fi card that's working fine. I'm trying to get 802.11n going with the WUSB600N. The USB ID on this device is 1737:0079. I believe this means it's a "V2" with an RT3572 chip.
No driver loads for this device when it's plugged in. If I do a "modprobe rt2870sta", a driver loads, and syslog shows "rtusb init" and "usbcore: registered new interface driver rt2870". But ifconfig -a doesn't show a new network interface. I've also tried building the RT3572 driver from the manufacturer's web site. It builds fine, and modprobe will load it, but I get the same results as the rt2870sta driver.

So whether i can open this file and use stat call to identify whether the size is 0. If size is 0, i can assume no USB present. Else i can assume USB is present.

Apr 13, 2010My ubuntu server was working normally but it suddenly failed to start, stopping after the following message: init: ureadahead-other main process (587) terminated with status 4 after this message, the system halts and does not finish the start up processes.
If I start the server in recovery mode, I get: init: ureadahead-other main process (587) terminated with status 4 [ 21.892940] ACPI: I/O resource w83627hf [0x295-0x296] conflicts with ACPI region HWMI [0x295-0x296] the system also halts and does not start. Right now, I can not use the server at all.
Ubuntu Servers :: Interpreting Mdadm RAID1 Status?
Feb 7, 2011I have a RAID1 array, where mdadm states that one of the disks is "removed." Naturally, I assume one of the drives has failed. The mdadm --detail command tells me that the sda drive has failed. However, further inspection from the mdadm -E /dev/sdb1 command says that sdb1 disk has been removed. I am a bit confused. Can someone clarify which drive is failed? Am I misreading the command outputs?
