Server :: PHP Files Not Being Processed In User Directories?
Mar 5, 2010
For some reason, my user directories don't seem to process php files. For example, server/~reduxtion/index.php forces the browser to download the file while server/index.php is fine.

I have a machine with 8 cores. I have a directory of input files that I need to process using a non-parallelized program. I would like to write a script that works its way through a list of commands executing 8 commans (i.e., instances of this program; each with specific flags having to do with the current input file) until the list of commands has been exhausted. Is there an easy way to do this?
Code:
hamstrsearch_local-hmmer3.pl -protein -refspec=lotgi_2713 -hmmset=lophotrochozoa_hmmer3 -sequence_file=Aplysia_californica.fas -taxon=ACAL

I have searched google for a while and searched the httpd.apache.org official site, but i cant find any information on which of the apache directives are being processed before other directives. If you have a large httpd.conf you need to know this, but amazingly i cant find this documentation anywhere which i find pretty unbelieveable. I currently have a situation where i have an apache module that is being run before another module and i need to find out why.. in addtion to that i need have complete control of the configuration, so i need to find out in which order the different directives are being processed.

I'm having trouble setting up a vsftp server correctly. What I want to do is allow a number of users to log on (no anonymous user) and each of them to be taken to their own "top level directory" from which they can not escape.
I've got most of this working, but I can't find a way to automatically transfer each user to *their* working area. The "local_root" directive doesn't quite do what I want as everybody has to share the same working area (potentially users could interfere with each other). On the other hand I don't want each user to work from their home directory because there are loads of special files there that I don't want users playing with.
To add one extra compilation, I'm also running an html server on the same machine. One of the directories the html server can see is one of the ftp area root directories (So what I'm trying to do is give one special user ability to ftp files onto the html server. Other users must *NOT* have this ability)

I'm running a Samba server (3.5.2-60.fc13) on Fedora 13 (64 bit). I want to share the user home directories and want to allow following of symlinks out of the share tree. So in smb.conf I used
unix extensions = no
wide links = yes
For SELinux I did:
setsebool -P samba_enable_home_dirs=1
getsebool -a | grep samba
samba_create_home_dirs --> off
samba_domain_controller --> off
[code]....
However I can't follow the symlinks when mounting my home directory on a Windows machine, unless I disable SeLinux.

I'm trying to rsync files and directories from a RedHat linux host(v 4.5 & 4.7) to a Windows server 2003R2 Standard Edition with cygwin running. I'm executing the rsync command from the cygwin shell. The transfer involves rsync'ing approximately 1 TB of data from the linux server to the windows server. After about 280+GB of data transfer, the transfer just dies.
There seems to be no particular file or directory that the transfer stops at. I'm able to rsync GB's of data from other linux hosts to this cygwin server with no problem. Files and directories rsync fine. The network infrastructure is essentially the same regardless of the server being rsync'ed in that it is GB Ethernet running through Cisco GB switches. There appear to be no glitches or hiccups across the network path.
I've asked the folks at rsync.samba.org if they know of any problems or issues. Their response has been neutral in that if the version of rsync that cygwin has ported is within standards then there is no rsync reason this problem should happen.I've asked the cygwin support site if they know of any issues and they have yet to reply. So, my question is whether the version of rsync that is ported to cygwin is standard. If so, is there any reason cygwin & rsync keep failing like this?
I've asked the local rsync on linux guru's and they can't see any reason this should fail from a linux perspective. Apparently I am our company cygwin knowledge base by default.

After what feels like weeks have tinkering around trying to get a Samba file server set up, I've finally given up! I have 4 drives and 2 groups:
1) Dev - Available to all users in both groups (normal and admin)
2) Misc - Available to users in admin group only
3) Admin - Available to users in admin group only
4) Accounts - Available to users in admin group only
Drives 1 and 2 are working fine, with the correct access rights. Drives 3 and 4 can be browsed by admins only, but no changes can be made at all - files & directories can't be renamed/moved/deleted. What is most confusing is that Drive 2 is set up exactly the same as Drives 3 and 4. The process I went through to get them working:

I just got my new vps up and running. I now have one site hosted on the server using drupal. Apache, php, mysql are all set up and working fine. I tried to setup a second site and created another virtual host for it. All permissions are set the same, the two virtual hosts have all the same settings but the new site does not process my php. When I browse to the new site I get a blank page. By viewing the source I can see that the php code is coming in but it is not being processed.
Don't know enough to know what else to check.

I need to permanently delete the following dirs in my home, that I really do not need (want!):
~/Documenti/Immagini
~/Documenti/Musica
~/Documenti/Video
how to do that?
I think I've learned that these directories are 'predefined' and eventually recreated at each login (even when deleted they appear again and over again, pretty annoying indeed...)
[URL] ....
[URL] ....
Now I would like to avoid the default creation of those dirs but I did not understand how to edit the local and global configuration files controlling this behaviour (I think)
Code: Select allgedit ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs
# This file is written by xdg-user-dirs-update
# If you want to change or add directories, just edit the line you're
# interested in. All local changes will be retained on the next run
# Format is XDG_xxx_DIR="$HOME/yyy", where yyy is a shell-escaped
# homedir-relative path, or XDG_xxx_DIR="/yyy", where /yyy is an
# absolute path. No other format is supported.
[Code] .....

Ubuntu 10.04
I want to copy all directories, files, and hidden files and hidden directories with one command. I want these items to replace any same items in the target directory.
I have tried several things, such as:
cp -r *
cp -aR *
but I only seem to get visible files and directories. Obviously, I am missing something. (A brain, probably....)

Quote:
server002:/var/www/virtual# ls -lh
insgesamt 4,0K
drwxrwx--- 10 vu2001 www-data 4,0K 9. Mär 09:58 domain.com
server002:/var/www/virtual#
but the files inside htdocs are only accessable for the user!
Code:
server002:/var/www/virtual/domain.com/htdocs# ls -lh | grep index.php
-rwxr-xr-x 1 vu2001 vu2001 397 24. Feb 23:30 index.php
server002:/var/www/virtual/domain.com/htdocs#
server002 will be the backup-server if the server001 is down!

I am having an issue with a Chrooted SFTP User not being able to write files.
The permissions are setup correctly as if I remove the Chroot the user can write files correctly.
User has a transfer folder which they should be able to write files to and read from, this works correctly until I apply the snippet from sshd_config file below then the user can only read files. I have tried tweaking the permissions but this doesn't seem to have helped at all.code...

I recently started using SVN with Apache for my web development, although I find it really annoying that I have to issue two SVN commands (one local, one remote) to update my web site. I have been looking into SVN post-commit hooks to solve this problem. The only problem is that apache does not have permission to modify files in my user directory... So here is how everything is setup. I am running Slackware 13 full install. There have been no installations overriding any of the default installs.

I've had a recent idea to have PHP take information from a form, save it to a file, which in turn is read from a local script as root (cron) which will create the user account, proper directories, add the website to the Apache sites, and reload Apache. anyone actually accomplished this before? And if so, can I get some links or some ideas to possibly help me on the process of getting started?

I work on machines with different architectures, all of which share the same home directory(what is the technical term for it -- network mounting ?). Since I don't have admin privileges on these systems, I have installed programs in /home/<my_id>/bin. A program compiled for one architecture doesn't work when I login into another system. I'm thinking of creating architecture specific directories which would contain inaries/libraries specific to that architecture and creating a softlink to it t /home/<my_id>/bin. The only problem with this solution is that I can't work on two systems at the same time.
