Server :: NFSv4 And Idmapd Working Only In One Direction?

I tried to set up NFSv4 with idmapd between two Debian/lenny installations. On the client, the user "xyz" has the UID 501 and on the server "1000". Changing UIDs and setting up NIS is not possible, Kerberos unwanted. I tried to set up NFSv4 with idmapd and it is only working from server to clienthen I list directories on the server, belonging to the user "xyz/1000", the owner is correctly displayed on the client as user "xyz/501". But when I create a file on the server, it is created with UID 501 (should be 1000). The configuration is quite standard, idmapd.conf was generated automatically, NEED_IDMAPD is set to "yes" and starting properly.
The main exporting directory has following options in /etc/exports:
rw,fsid=0,insecure,no_subtree_check,sync
and the mounted directory has:

I have an old Logitech Wingman analog joystick connected to a game port on a Creative sound card. At this point I've got the system to see the joystck and was able to run jscal. I was also able to run jstest. I was able to see positive & negative numbers moving the joystick in four directions. However, when I try 2 different MAME games or Open Arena there is no right direction. Pushing the joystick right only stops it from going left.. Up and down movement seems to be OK.

I am attempting to Kerborize an NFS server on a RHEL6 machine, but I cannot get it quite right. The error message I receive when executing the following command (as myself, not as root) is:

I have a keytab generated from the KDC for both NFS server and NFS client (both RHEL6 hosts) placed in /etc, and I have configured PAM/Kerberos so I can login via SSH and see I have a valid ticket with klist.
I can login to both NFS server and NFS client via SSH and get a ticket, but I don't know where the problematic NFS permissions reside.
The /etc/exports file on the NFS server looks like:

I have disabled IP Tables on both client and server, and hosts.allow and hosts.deny are not blocking traffic at the moment. On the NFS server.

I have AD DS installed on Windows Server 2008 R2. Also, I've got SLES 10.3 as NFSv4 server, which will allow remote users to mount their /home partitions. What I need, is NFSv4 w/Kerberos. As AD server already has integrated Kerberos server, I need SLES to authenticate in it.Everything works good, but when it comes to svcgssd service activation, I receive an error.Here's the log:

i'm trying to setup a nfs4 server and client. i followed the instructions in [URL](nfsv4 quick start section) and [URL] The SERVER is on 192.168.89.1 running Xubuntu 10.04, and the CLIENT is on 192.168.89.128 running Ubuntu 10.10. Firewall is disabled on both the server and the client for testing purposes. /etc/default/nfs-kernel-server on the SERVER:

I have Debian 7 running on RPi2 with Kodi. My NFS server is running on Slackware 14.1 which doesn't have full support for nfs4. I think this is causing some slowdowns/extra time when trying to stream video. Debian 7 by default mounts NFS as nfsv4, I would to like to disable this if possible. If so how?

I've used the NFS how to on the Ubuntu Community wiki here to setup a shared directory between my Ubuntu 10.10 server, and two clients, one running 10.04, another 10.10. I can create and read files from both machines just fine but cannot modify a file created by the other machine.when viewing the permissions on machine A, that was created by machine B, the permissions say "nogroup, nouser". Both users are setup on the server with the same UID, and GID's.Also, both machines are setup to create files that by default are read/write possible for user and group, per the link here.

I just started to use NFSv4, but Dolphin seems to have problems with it. For example if I copy something from local partition to the nfs partition dolphin stops to response. I cannot launch another dolphin or browse the current dolphin. After copying is completed the dolphin starts to work again. I also have cifs partitions via samba, but with those I don't have this problem. Something wrong with my NFS configuration maybe?

Running RHEL5.5 on a Dell R710 server. I installed a 2-port PCIe serial card, built the driver, and installed the kernel module. The ports show up in /etc/hwconf, lspci, kudzu, /proc/ioports, etc., and I now have two new device entries...

I'm currently setting up a squid proxy which will be installed on a debian system configured as a bridge eth0/eth1 as br0. The problem I'm having is that port 80 requests are being proxied both ways where I only want the requests coming in via eth1 to be proxied.
Is there a way to do this? I've already tried changing the "-i br0" in the iptables redirection to "-i eth1" but no data appears to go through it.

I'm running OpenSuSE 11.3 (64 bit) with the latest kernel update as of yesterday. I've recently moved from NFSv3 to NFSv4 on 4 servers. Between the 4 servers there are 9 exported directories. All of them work except 1 on 1 of the 4 servers.

Well that explains why the NFSv4 mount of /apps/oracle fails because for some reason it can't "see" any files below that, but as I say the ftpserver sub-dir & mount are fine.

I work with modbus protocol(MODBUS/TCP to MODBUS/RTU gateway server) and write a program for work with mbusd. when working with usb to serial adapter and cable, my program works without any problem. but when working with serial cable does not work (without usb to serial adapter) ; when mbusd is runing and i run minicom program in part initializing modem my program works and when minicom lock the serial port my program stop. when close minicom "with no rest modem" (ctrl+a and press q) modbus program and my program works without any problems.
in builder site (mbus.sourceforge.net) posted : note that currently mbusd can't operate with RS-232/RS-485 converters with direction switching by RTS pin. Use converters with automatic data direction control (i.e. Moxa Transio series).

I have noticed that when I have my home directory mounted over network with NFSv4 ==> applications that use dconf to save preferences do not work correctly.
If I try to save preferences they won't save and I'm getting "Unable to contact dconf service" errors with Evince, Empathy etc.
I was googling this issue and I figured out that Dconf uses inotify() ( [url] and [url]) and those notifys don't work with NFS at all so the whole "dconf thing" doesn't work!
Am I right that Ubuntu is moving from GConf to DConf? If that is true I think this issue will be a serious problem if most of the applications use mechanism to save settings that doesn't work with NFS mounted drives. It is quite common to use NFS to mount home directory in some schools, companies and LTSP-machines.
I've tried to reinstall dconf and libdconf0 packages with no working result. When I'm using my home directory locally there is no problems.
And with Ubuntu 10.04/9.10/9.04... there were no these problems.

If the arrowhead points up, the standard behavior is to sort with lower values first and higher values later. In my ubuntu install, it does the opposite. Names and dates sort descending when the arrow points up.

I'm no expert on DHCP. My problem is that i have a CentOS 5.5 server on which i want to install a DHCP server. I have two NICs where eth0 has access to the internet and where eth1 should act as an DHCP server.
I have installed dhcpd and this is how my dhcpd.conf file looks like.

When i start dhcpd on eth1 i get no error messages but when i connect any devices to eth1 they don't get any IP. I cant find anything in any logs about devices trying to get an IP address. I dont have any firewall rules in iptables.

i compiled and install postfix, and i using relayhost that point to my ISP. but my "DNS server" is on the same server where is installed postfix. and there is running apache with vhosts so i have domain that hosted on same server and in zonefiles of my domain my MX records points to Google Apps, to google's MX servers. But when i try send E-mail via sendmail to mail@mydomainonsameserver.com it not deliver mail to Google Apps totally, if i try to send to another E-mail everything fine it deliver it. so finally i done research this problem in Internet. And find that need to disable deliver mail to localhost(localdelivery)as i think postfix understand that the domain point to the same server where postfix have itself. and try to deliver mail local. but zonefile MX record even the domain on same server can point to another server outside. So i disabled localdelivery in postfix. and problem not fixed

LDAP is endlessly not working, due to difficulties to simply configure it. I even cannot make the first steps of the installations ... It seems so difficult ... After many howto, wiki, reading, re-reading the errors are still there, always different, and not working.Is there an admin, coming from hell, that made running a LDAP server for sharing the basic configuratin files /var.. /etc... of a working LDAP Server in a tar.gz?
