Server :: How To Force Nginx To Do DNS Lookups
Jun 2, 2011way to get nginx to perform DNS lookups at regular intervals against hostnames that are defined for upstream servers? It seems nginx only performs a DNS lookup once, the first time it starts, and subsequently does not perform any other DNS lookups. This causes problems when the ip addresses of our upstream servers change.

Jun 24, 2010My intention is to have EngineX on the frontend handling all static files, and Apache + mod_php in charge of handling PHP requests. I have optimized nginx to be as efficient as possible in handling static files, but have very little experience with Apache. Since Apache would only be processing PHP requests, would the standard Apache optimization guides suffice or would it best to configure it differently?
PS: this is a dedicated file server, the database is hosted separately.

However, now I want to add more domains with wordpress to that VPS. I created a directory called /home/public_html/domain1.com and linked it to the /var/www/ directory. then I created another directory called /home/public_html/domain2.com and uploaded wordpress there. What I did next was edit my /etc/nginx/nginx.conf file with the following code:

Apr 12, 2011I have a perfectly working installation of nginx / PHP / fastcgi on the latest stable Debian distribution. No problems at all, apart from this one: When a PHP script (script A) is written to request a PHP script on the same web server (script B), nginx takes several minutes to respond and finally the connection times out. And it happens only when invoking script A through nginx. Calling it from command line works fine � I get a normal output of script B.
Literally, the test case is as simple as:

I suppose the root of the problem may be some obstacle occurring when php5-cgi ends up invoking itself. And this is what happens when script A is called through nginx. But I have no ideas yet how to address the problem. One of my PHP applications checks itself during installation, that's why I need to request a PHP script from a PHP script on the same server.

Sep 14, 2010I'm trying to set up my web server (nginx) as a catchall virtual host, as per an example that can be seen here: [URL].. (It's the Wildcard Subdomains in a Parent Folder example). Now, here's my issue. I use Wordpress on the coburndomain.org domain. I have pretty URLs enabled, that make my Wordpress articles look like this:[URL].. At the moment, nginx is reporting 500 Errors, saying that index.php is not a directory. What I want to do is make a rewrite rule that allows me to use the above URL example with nginx.

Oct 24, 2015I've installed Nginx-full on a debian jessie server and want to install Wordpress, but for some reason Nginx-full isn't being seen as providing the httpd virtual package, so wordpress insists on installing apache.
According to everything I can find, nginx-full provides the httpd virtual package and this shouldn't happen. Is this a bug?

Mar 22, 2011I'm trying to use TCM (Toolkit for Conceptual Modeling) but the font used by the application for menus window headers & such is very hard to read. I can change the font used for fields within the application in the configuration file, but there doesn't seem to be a way to change the fonts for the other fonts.
Is there a way to do this through gnome or Ubuntu?

Dec 19, 2009I'm setting up email gateway using Postfix, Amavisd-new, ClamAV and SpamAssassin on Opensuse 11.1. Everything seems okie, but I can't have messages with added spam headers, such as:

When I try to debug amavis, I can see that SPAM-TAG, <abc@yahoo.com> -> <celeron@domain.com>, No, score=5.406 tagged_above=-999 required=6.2 tests=[LOCAL_DRUG=4, NO_DNS_FOR_FROM=1.407, NO_RELAYS=-0.001] but they don't add to email messages. I've configured amavisd-new with $sa_tag_level_deflt = -999 to add spam headers at all but not successful.

I have installed the main files in mail directory such as: # class.phpmailer.php: This is the main class file which contains the various email functions.# class.smtp.php: This additional class allows SMTP authentication.I don't think I need class.pop3.php as I'm sending mails server side (smtp)and should be accepted by most IP's pop3 servers.
All my mail functions work great with SMTP and I can send and receive. My problem is that my recipients only receive mail from admin@domain instead of "My Website Name" Sounds simple enough, I know and I have made adjustments to class.phpmailer.php and have inserted my specific mail attributes for my site such as mail address, mail from, smtp server, user/pass for smtp,etc.PHP Mailer v5.0 class.phpmailer.php is a very long script and I only found a couple of places to put the FROM address as follows:

Nov 13, 2010I want to use Remastersys Backup, but their webpage [url] says that it only works with Grub-legacy, not with Grub-2 (Grub-pc).
What I currently have is Grub-2, and the question is can I safely switch from that to legacy, i.e., with a simple synaptic remove and install?
The Remastersys package actually wants to install, also in synaptic, the dummy package "grub"; so should I allow it to take care of the switch, or do I do it myself as above?

Sep 24, 2010I've read quite a few threads on how to change the GCC version to 4.3 from 4.4 but when i do it tries to tell me that it cannot even compile the gcc version check or something similar. Also the kernel-source is 196.x.x even though the latest driver is 256.x.x so will compiling it make a difference since it's using an older version of the kernel source, i've checked in sid and apparently it's using the same package which is surprising. The main reason why i'm going to try to upgrade from 196.x.x is because that release has frequently and does frequently stay in the higher gpu clock for no reason and also runs ~10-20*C hotter than 256 does and for me that's the difference between 65*C max and 85*C max which is a very noticeable difference.

Dec 12, 2010I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 on my computer, I asked a couple months ago here if my PC would run it and it does well, but I believe that not as well as I want to, mainly because of my computer. Right now I have the following:
RAM: 433 MB
AMD Sempron, 1800 MHz 3000+
HD 120 Gb
So I believe that maybe if I change my Ubuntu version to, lets say, 9.10 it will work a little better, because right now the PC have a lot of lag and some other troubles when working with PDF and the GIMP, etc. and I think its mainly because of the low memory. So, what do you think? Should I change my PC to 9.10 or some other previous version of Ubuntu?
