I have been having problems with Xserver crashes (goes into low graphics mode). On inspection of my .xsession-errors file, I get X IO fatal errors 5, 11 and/or 104. Somehow my computer is losing its connection with the xserver (connection reset by peer) What is causing this? Should I post a report to launchpad? This happened before and after a clean install and more often when I opened a full screen game (SDL or OpenGL) Here is my xsession errors after my last crash:

I just installed Arch (x86_64). I am trying to setup Xorg. I have not installed a DE or WM yet, I just want to make sure Xorg is 100% first.
I had to edit the xorg.conf myself to direct it to my Intel graphics driver, but now it seems to work perfectly.
Except after exiting X, my terminal reads:

I have very interesting problem after ~10 PHP Fatal error, php 5(latest one) in apache2(latest one) in Ubuntu Server 10.10(with latest updates) just do not work. So if try any php page it's not working(user see white page), but HTML still work fine.What that can be? So only restart apache is help to back php. (we are running Wordpress blog 3.1)

It's work very well until i try restart my client server and the mount from 192.168.2.83 is gone, if i want it work again i must run mount script again. Can it become the permanent mount, so when i restart my server the mount is already exist?

I have VIA/S3G unichrome IGP video card of 32MB after installing fedora i am getting very worst resolution of 600x400which is completely irritating so please provide me a way out from this problem to use fedorathe solutions i followed and failed are given below
1. Some one told me to change the xorg.conf file but i failed because there is no such file in the given location
2. Some one told me to create it using system-config-display but for fedora 14 there is no package for that

that's my first linux server. on my root is CentOS already installed. when i connect via "Remote Desktop Viewer" i log in with my accout.
then i see the textmode and type in "startx" and "init 5" but nothing happens but i can see this:

I am having a strange problem with the Opensuse 11.2 Xorg server. Graphics hardware is Nvidia Quadro FX-5000, driver is ver 190.53. 90% of the time, I am getting a seg violation from the Xserver on trying to login via kdm:

So far, it doesn't seem to be user dependent (happens either as root or joe random user,) Again, so far, it only seems to happen with "driver nvidia" enabled in the config file, not with "driver nv" The failure occurs shortly after hitting return on the login screen. After it fails, it starts up a new Xserver, and presents a new login screen. Repeated attempts seem to *eventually* succeed, but 90% of the time, it fails I strongly suspect the Nvidia driver, but I have not been able to find anything documenting any similar problems.
I have dhcp3-server (isc-dhcp-server) installed on my Debian and now I got a question about how it's giving the IP addresses to new devices.
For example: I connected my laptop and dhcp server gave me 192.168.1.5 address. Will it always give me the same ip address when I connect my laptop or it will eventually change after some time (week-month)? If it's not changing it, then I am wrong about this.
BUT...If I am somehow correct and if it will change in a week and give me another random (like 192.168.1.8) IP even I won't change my laptop network adapter, is it possible to configure dhcp server to always give same IP address depending on what MAC it is?
To make it clear, I want that when I connect new device (new laptop/pc) dhcp server would give it random IP but same time it would note the MAC address and never change the IP on that MAC.
I know about MAC filters, but setting filters is when you know MAC address since beginning and want to assign IP for it, but in my situation I don't know the MAC address.
I am looking for a code for setting virtual alias for all domains and addresses. The scenario is that when I send an email from anywhere to my server, it will send to only one address but not send to the orginal recipient.

now I have managed my rsyslogd to log the firewall into a separate file I would like to use a script which looks into this file for intruders which for example try to ping, telnet, ssh, rdp etc into my dsl connection.And then use a kind of app or firewall on my ubuntu server to block them.Yes my firewall logs them but does not block them if the policy is enabled, so they have access on through the firewall and the connect to my server but I only want some known IP addresses have access through it and this I cannot program in the firewall so I have to use some extras.Or am I thinking way to far and is there a better solution with IPtables or app?Is it possible to watch tcp connections between the firewall from outside IP addresses and the ubuntu server?

This box is running 10.04 server, it's been running perfectly for almost 6 weeks. It's only function in life is running MailArchiva which is an ediscovery package, runs very well. Anyhow, yesterday the boss tells me he wants to do something else so the last thing I did was an apt-get update and an apt-get upgrade, no errors were observed, I seem to remember like 8 updates were available, this is what I've normally done in the past to keep it current. The last thing I did after that was shutdown -r now.
This morning I can't get into the box, I reconnected a monitor to it and this is the error I'm getting when it stops after about 9 lines into the boot process;
modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting padlock_sha (/lib/modules/2.6.32-24-server/kernel/drivers/crypto/padlock-sha.ko): No such device.
This is a mystery to me, the system is not encrypted. The only stuff that is belongs to MailArchiva. Anyhow someone evidently made off with my install cd so I am downloading another to see if I can repair this but I have no idea what broke.
Ubuntu 10.10 Whenever I try to boot up now I get a command line environment instead of the normal gnome desktop. The first error message that comes up is: "Screens found,but none have a usable configuration" further down: "Fatal server error: no screens found" Any way I can re-configure so it detects my monitor?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using with success NX server and client on Ubuntu 11.04 on both side. Yesterday the server crashed and now the client can't connect to it. The client works well because if I try to connect to an other server it works well and if I try to connect to this server with an other user it works well. So I think that there is a problem with my user. I have tried to solve the problem as explained in the details of the error. Unfortunately there is no file /var/log/messages so I can't search the code of the exception.

But is it possible to somehow create a script in perl example that can do this for or is it only possible manually?
Is there somewhere in WHM where I can allow and disallow various ip addresses to login using PuTTY for SSH.OpenSSH Server, is not running (for security reasons).If OpenSSH is not running, is there a way to allow certain ip addresses only to use ssh.

Im working with virtuals machines to configure Sendmail on Linux.
I work with two domains (ar and org), the configuration is similar in both, so i will write just one.
In orgs mail server:
The emails stopped coming and the server adds to the e-mail addresses the MX record. For example, if i send an email to u1@org in log appears u1@org.mail.org.
I set-up his mail server for him with Postfix but what he wants I have no idea how to do.
Essentially he wants it so that the mail gateway IP corresponds with the dedicated IP of the domain and I have no idea how to accomplish this.
I found some documentation on the web saying that the fix for this was to run multiple instances of Postfix which I tried doing but each time I try to start the second instance I get the error that postfix is already running.
There has to be an elegant way to make this happen, I really hate to tell a client something can't be done even though the concept is a bit pointless, IMHO. I am hoping I can get some feedback here on if this can be done and if it can the easiest way for me to accomplish doing it.

I'm trying to use Squid to restrict web access on the computers of my LAN. All of the computers are using static IP address and we use our firewall to deny all HTTP access except for the proxy machine so everyone needs to go through the proxy to access the web.
Most of of the computers have access to websites that are listed on a white list that I called "goodsites". I have a range of IP address that I listed in a file called "super_users". These IP adresses are able to access everything except sites that I have put in a black list called "badsites".
I would like to restrict the use of audio/video streaming for all the IP adresses including the super_users. So far I have been able to effectively block streaming for all the IP addresses except the super_users that are able to bypass this restriction.

I've installed 9.10 on a work station with success. I've got an nvidia quadro fx 3000 and its supported under nvidia legacy driver apparently. So I've tried to install the driver with no success. Xorg.0.log reports a fatal server error no screens found. I get a flashing console login when I boot with "nvidia" device driver in xorg.conf, it boots fine with "nv". No matter what I try I cant get it to boot with nvidia drivers. Also, on a side note, after initially installing nvidia driver thru hardware in gnome, I no longer have a grub loader option to select recovery or anything else. Upon boot it displays "grub" briefly then continues to boot to gui. I've set the delay to 20 seconds with no results.
Resolved the issue of the display, now on to the grub menu.
I have server 10.04 running, and I modified my fstab file to automatically mount an NTFS partition on startup, but after a reboot, I see that I clearly did something wrong, as now it will not boot. The output is:

there are several posts related to my problem but not quite what I want. I don't need any effects to be running nor do I need perfect resolution. I have a PCI-E card Nvidia 8600 gts and I need to run redhat 7.1 for reasons that are not debatable. I also have an onboard ati radeon X 1250 but currently I am running the PCI-E.The installation was successful and ran in GUI, however after installation and reboot, the screen keeps flickering trying to load the desktop.I just need to get the GUI running the same way the installer was able to run in GUI, I tried editing the XF86Config file to change the driver to either vesa or vga but still didn't work. Probing for devices is not an option since the card is not listed and the maximum video ram goes up to 64MB in xconfigurator. It probes my card as a VGA generic with 1 MB ram. I know there is a way to have the desktop load just the same as the installer's gui settings but that's where I need help.
this is after changing all the 'driver' values to vesa. I don't understand why it can't find the screen even though I used the horizontal and vert. sync values for my monitor. Any instructions or advice on how to just get the desktop loaded would be great, I know this is a very old OS but regardless I need for it to work.
