SUSE :: SSH From Server To Client - Connection Refused
Feb 9, 2010
I am using redhat on server and open suse on client. When I want to ssh from my server machine the following error occur "connection refuse". I execute the following command on clien machine "/etc/init.d/sshd start". It shows the following error just after command execution "sshd re-exec requires execution with an absolute path".
I am facing connection refused error 111 in TCP client server program, in android native code which in C , but if code is in JAVA it works fine, but i want to continue in C only, in manifest file i have given permission and ip, port is correct .What am doing wrong?? or is their any network setting?? am using UBUNTU 10.04and If both client server Linux pc it works fine. only if android emulator becomes client then am getting connection refused
I am getting tcp client connection refused error, when trying to establish tcp client connection from redhat linux to solaris unix. Connect system call is giving connection refused error
I'm building a music server using an Alix board with Voyage linux installed on that. The Alix board is attached to my laptop, running Debian, and the laptop acts as the file server via NFS.
I have MPD installed and configured on the Alix board, and have configured NFS on the Alix board to look for the directory where my music files are on the laptop.
I'm directly connecting the Alix board and the Laptop with a crossover cable as I don't want internet access - this is purely for storing and playing my FLAC files via the hi fi. As a result I've setup static IP addresses on both the Alix board and the Laptop, using 10.0.0.1 as the Laptop address and 10.0.0.2 for the Alix board address. Both the Laptop and Alix board have a netmask of 255.0.0.0
The Laptop /etc/network/interfaces output is
# The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 10.0.0.1 netmask 255.0.0.0
[Code]....
1. Comment out the "bind to any address = "any" line in the mpd.conf, but that didn't solve it.
2. I'm wondering if I need to setup my routing tables so that it uses a static route, but I don't think that will help as I'm not connecting via a router.
The Laptop is an IBM Thinkpad and not a Mac (I've read about people with Mac's having problems like this).
As far as I know I don't have any firewalls - The Debian install is just disks 1 and 2, and I haven't installed any firewalls (but not sure if Debian comes with one as standard?) The Alix board has the Voyage distribution specifically for Alix and I'm certain that doesn't have anything like a firewall built into it as Voyage is a very stripped down linux kernel.
I have a Nis server on Suse 11 which is configured using Yast and nis clients on Suse and CentOs .All clients which is on the Suse Os is working fine. But on CentOs , users couldn't login using nis username.I have mounted home directory using nfs in fstab . I can switch to nis users homedirectory only when i am root. But nis users could'nt login on reboot.' ypcat passwd username ' is showing the output . No selinux is enabled in the client .Is there is any problem with Suse server to Centos Client in nis ??
I downloaded the ubuntu server (command line only) iso and set up a server on a spare computer. The only partition is ubuntu. LAMP server installed, and runs. Its plugged into my home network and the router assigns it a DMZ. I use ptty and that allows me to connect the server from my Windows PC. I installed samba and that works, I set up the server as Z: to my windows PC, and I can now use Filezilla FTP to move gigs of files over from my windows PC to the ubuntu server. I have to log in to activate the connection to Z: but it works.
Problem is getting a database connection from my windows PC (client) to my ubuntu server. Server is running a MySQL server and an Apache Derby server but both give connection:refused every time I try to connect with a java app, or with ij from my client. I tried MySQL Workbench, as that has a GUI, that doesnt connect to MySQL either. Every time I start my server I have to add lots of jar files to the CLASSPATH just to get the Derby server running. The Derby client connection on my client PC is also properly set up with PATH and CLASSPATH etc etc all configured and tested. But the server refuses every attempt to connect even though it tells you the Derby server is up and runnign as listening on port 1527!!!
What I want is a script or app that will "unlock" my server so I can actually do something with it instead of constantly trying new settings and packages in the vain hope it will then actually 'serve'. I am missing something here. There is nothing of value on this server that cannot be 'exposed' to the internet, so I'd be happy to turn off all the security just so the damn thing allowed connections...!
vsftpd not working on my CentOS system. I tried logging in using FileZilla but the error message was: Connection attempt failed with "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server".
I am merely trying to change the port for my ssh server. However it isn't changing.I edited my ssh_config file to:
Code:
# This is the ssh client system-wide configuration file. See # ssh_config(5) for more information. This file provides defaults for[code]...
When i try to connect to my server via port 443 i get a connection refused error. However when i try to connect via port 22 it connects. Since that didn't work, i tried restarting the entire server. To restate, i changed the config file and restarted ssh then the computer, however the port didn't change.Ohh and yes my router is set to port forwarding on port 443, though it doesn't matter since I'm inside the network.
at the computer shop we have an ubuntu 9.10 server that we log into via ssh or webmin today i was trying to ssh into the machine and got connection refused, so i logged into webmin and found the ssh server not running when i tried to start with webmin it i got the error
Code: failed to start ssh server * /dev/null not a character device went over to the shell command part of webmin and issued ls /dev -l and looked at the output and found something of concern
I have configured openssh 5.8p2 with centos 5.6. My sftp is working fine with chroot environment but i am having problem with SCP. I am dealing with muliti Redhat servers. When i try to transfer data from other linux server through scp it gives connection refused. For e.g ssh 5.8 is configured on new server and i want to transfer files from old server which is using openssh 4.3 version.i created same username and password on new server as on old server. My sftp users on new server has no shell access but only sftp access. When i try to scp from old server to new server it gives error connection refused. Is the below configuration only for sftp and can't scp? According to google the configurations i found are for scp and sftp. Do i need to generate ssh keys by giving users on new server shell access, once created then stop shell access again, as i dont want to give shell access permanent for security reasons? but i want to use ssh keys for more security as well.
Port 22 PermitRootLogin no 1.override default of no subsystems[code].....
I have a box running Fedora 14 upstairs and I've been trying to get it to run VNC server, unsuccessfully. I've RTFM, and followed the instructions step-by-step, but it still won't run. I'm getting no error messages. But when I try to connect from either a Window or Mac client, it either get a timeout or connection refused. I've read and tried all the troubleshooting; been working on this for about 12 hours now. Is there something major that I could be overlooking?
I have just built a new postifx open relay server to allow my ISP clients to send emails. During testing of the SMPT protocol, I can managed to send emails to my localhost however, I can't send emails to other external mail server. Below is a test to a yahoo account. Aug 7 15:03:55 mx2 postfix/smtp[4050]: connect to g.mx.mail.yahoo.com[98.137.54.238]: Connection refused (port 25) Aug 7 15:03:55 mx2 postfix/smtp[4050]: F084EC8D76: to=<ellyu4@yahoo.com>, relay=none, delay=8.5, delays=1.2/0.05/7.3/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to g.mx.mail.yahoo.com[98.137.54.238]: Connection refused)
I am using localhost for only send the email, its send mail outside domain like my gmail or yahoo accunt. but its not send my domain user account. the error comes when i see the logs is: stat=Deferred: Connection refused by [127.0.0.1]
I have a Rackspace server running Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, where I have installed an IRCd-Hybrid. I can connect to the IRC server using irssi that was installed on the same machine where the server is, but when I try to access it from my computer at home or my friends try I get this error: Code: Connection Refused What should I do?
I have configured a Nagios server which is working well with all king of clients. But when I added a new windows machine to monitor, it gives a error message "connection refused". I have set everything as prior machines.
Now, I just wanted to know the process by which we can check if server is able to communicate with the client's NSclient daemon. In Linux, we simply issue "./check_nrpe -H hostname" and if ok, it gives the NRPE version which indicates the status ok.
When I was checking the /var/log/messages, I found these entries:
Mar 16 15:14:38 localhost smbd[13347]: [2010/03/16 15:14:38, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_connect(78) Mar 16 15:14:38 localhost smbd[13347]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused Mar 16 15:24:38 localhost smbd[13691]: [2010/03/16 15:24:38, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_connect(78) Mar 16 15:24:38 localhost smbd[13691]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused Mar 16 15:24:38 localhost smbd[13692]: [2010/03/16 15:24:38, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_connect(78) Mar 16 15:24:38 localhost smbd[13692]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused Mar 16 15:27:34 localhost smbd[13716]: [2010/03/16 15:27:34, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_connect(78) Mar 16 15:27:34 localhost smbd[13716]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused Mar 16 15:27:34 localhost smbd[13718]: [2010/03/16 15:27:34, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_connect(78) Mar 16 15:27:34 localhost smbd[13718]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused
CUPS is stopped in the system and the system is configured as samba server. What could be the reason for these printing requests from smbd?
Im having some problem with my DNS. We are using a Linux web server as one of our web server which runs some live websites. When I trying to get the status of the DNS (NAMED) it comes the following error :
The same error appears when Im trying to apply any changes on zone level for a selected doamin in WEBMIN. (Basically can't apply changes)
WEBMIN > Servers > BIND DNS servers > click a selected-domain.co.uk > Apply changes
But the server seems to be running without effecting any probelms to the sites or users. I have been searching weeks for this problem & couldn't find a solution. And also Please note that Im bit new to Linux.
I am experiencing a bit of a problem with openssh-server. I installed the server like I normally do. It wouldn't work, so I tried using this. It still didn't work. Later, I have realised that when using service sshd start SSH says it started, but when you check if it's running with service sshd status it says it doesn'triend advised me to use /etc/init.d/sshd and I managed to get it started. However, that doesn't return anything, and when I try to connect it says connection refused even when I try to connect from localhost to localhost
I'm try to setup a database server using mysql, the server starts fine, and I can access it using the built in mysql client via console (adding databases and tables works fine), but the problem is... I always get a connection refused error whenever I access the database outside the built in mysql client (example, if I write a code that connects to mysql). So, I tried execute an nmap command and the only ports open are these ports:
[Code]....
there's no 3306 for mysql... I'm thinking that the firewall is just blocking the port that mysql is using, but my question is, how could the built in client connect to the server if there's no open port for mysql server? Don't clients usually access a servers through ports?
I have FileZilla installed on this machine, and OpenSSH (with an open port 22) on another machine on my home network. When I try and connect, I get: Quote: Status:Connecting to 192.168.2.3... Response:fzSftp started Command: open "alphatwo@192.168.2.3" 22 Error:Connection refused Error:Could not connect to server
Which has left me puzzled as I have an open port. Does the username have to be defined somewhere? E.g. the machine acting as my SFTP server can be logged on to locally as alphatwo so that's what I logged in as (with the correct password). Is this correct? If so, does anyone have any ideas as to how I might rectify it? I want SFTP set up so I can copy PHP files from my laptop to /var/www/html/ on another PC (across the home network).
i done desktop config in ubuntu server 11.04 and connected via tightvnc, uvnc and in remote desktop viewer from another ubuntu machine also. I am not able to access(connect) the server in GUI mode(when monitor is removed) but i putty is working fine in cmd line.
I have 2 servers.. let say server A and server B On server A open ssh is configured and is running on port 2298. So from my machine I can login there using ssh on port 2298 But when I login to server B and from there I try to connect to server A I cannot. ssh: connect to host <ipaddress here> port 2298: Connection refused
I am trying to monitorize an OpenWRT (Backfire 10.03, r23115) router from an Ubuntu server, but I am having some problems. I have installed Nrpe (2.12) on the remote host (OpenWRT), I have executed the program as a deamon (/usr/sbin/nrpe -d) but when I start the NRPE deamon, I don't get anything about NRPE executing netstat -at or ps -ef.I would need to install check_nrpe on OpenWRT to find out if NRPE is working, but I can't find any ipk package with it. Now, once in the monitoring host when I try to reach the remote host from the server:
I have a machine running with slackware64 13.1 and vnc servers is installed on it. It worked for months until yesterday, when I couldnt connect to the machine remotely.
I have 2 vnc "users" on this machine, root and "user". Each have their own desktop. Root has desktop :1 and user had desktop :2. Simple enough.
VNC servers is started via /etc/rc.d/rc.local with the command:
Code:
Code:
It worked flawlessly. I use the very same configuration on my home server, never had a glitch.
From the "distant" machine, I get this error when I try to connect:
Code:
Unable to connect to VNC server
What has changed so it no longer works? I assume its not a network problem since the machines are all located in my home network and there is no firewall or router in between them.
For some reason my mail server (Postfix) seems to have stopped delivering mail.
The error in the mail logs is "status=deferred (delivery temporarily suspended: connect to 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]: Connection refused) against all mails.
I have researched to try and find an answer, most information on this problem seems to point to a malfunction in the Anti Virus and Spam Filtering solution.
I have checked that Amavisd and Clamd are both operating and have restarted Postfix but all to no avail, squirrelmail is not working either.. ie not even producing a login page.
I have not changed anything in the config and am just wondering if anyone has experienced similar and could point me in the right direction of a solution.
I tried to finally set-up surround sound on my Ubuntu 10.04 machine and i was successful in doing so after a while of changing settings and tinkering. After doing so though, i was later in the day not able to get into the Pulseaudio Volume Control, therefore, everything is stuck where it is and i can't change anything. When i try to open Pulseaudio Volume Control i get the error message, Connection failed, Connection refused. My programs still play sound and i can control the sound of the programs through the programs, but i cant control the sound of the sorround sound now and my main sound bar only affects my stereo speakers, not the surround ones.
I believe this may have happened after the random disk check on restart, but i can't 100% confirm that and i'm not even sure if they are related. I still have sound, but i have no way to control the volume of my entire system at once. I did some looking around online and saw that others are having or had the same issue, and it was through different versions of Linux also. somehow reset everything so i can access PAVC and start over . I also tried steps listed in another thread here on the same topic, but they weren't working and it also seemed to be for older Ubuntu versions.
