yast2 matched nothing when I typed "iSCSI" in it. Can anybody give a help? My desktop is Dell precision T3500 workstation, it is installed with SLED 10.0, then for some software installation, I update its kernel to SLED 11(2.6.7). I see in many forum yast should be able to install iSCSI initiator very easy, but this doesn't work for me.

I have downloaded tarballs of gpg2 (gnupg-2.0.16), compiled it, compiled dependencies etc. and have it installed on my Suse 10 box. Now I want to install it on another suse 10 box. Instead of doing the compiling/installing steps once again, is there a good way I can package gpg2, or tar it on my server, so it can be easily installed on the other server? Also, when I installed gpg, it was installed everywhere, /usr/local/lib, /usr/local/bin, my download dir etc. How do I pick the needed libraries and executable to make the package? maybe I Should specify a path for the gpg to be installed, then tar the whole directory. how to do the first part?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used to share my internet connection for my palm via bluetooth dund on opensuse 10.1. Now I upgraded to opensuse 11.2, and have been trying to configure the same for 5 hours, without success. The problem is: dund seems to be in bluez-utils, but this package does not seem to be available from the official opensuse 11.2 repo. It is available from an unofficial one, but that is version 3.x and it conflicts with the version 4.x package of bluez. So, I either have bluez 4.x or bluez-utils 3.x, whilst I would need both.
Is there a solution for this problem, or any other way to share internet via bluetooth? (All previous howtos seem to be rendered useless with the recent "developments" of bluez, but, hey, file sending to my palm still works to some extent, so, there is much room for more "developments" until bluetooth is rendered completely unuseable).
Edit: In a changelog at a RedHat site, I found that the bluez-utils package was integrated into the bluez package, and later some tools like dund were split out into a bluez-compat package. Maybe the same happened to bluez in opensuse, too. But I have both the bluez and the bluez-compat packages installed, and hcid and sdpd are nowhere. Where did they disappear during the very important re-organization of bluez tools?
Edit2: Kind of solved. Hcid was renamed to bluetoothd, and probably the other tools and config files changed names, too. Old howto's are in fact useless, and I am about to sacrifize my next days in order to become a blootooth expert just to configure this wrecked internet sharing.

I've got several language multimedia CD-Rom's, made for Windows 95/98/98 SE and 2000, that I'm using by means of my daughter's old PC (Win 98 SE O.S.). However I noticed, also, that you can perfectly use them even with Windows Vista. What I'd like to know is if you can use them even with Suse/Novell and (why not?) OpenSuse Linux.

When i am adding a user using "useradd -d /home/test test" or "useradd test", it is now creating the home directory, whereas when i am using the graphical mode and going through several menu options, i am getting the home directory.

I configured the device on XP following instruction from this forum and the AP configured perfectly.The AP is plugged directly into the network port on the computer. It *should* function correctly without a router. I tried a restart and Suse has no idea it's there. The computer is currently configured for a wired connection which needs to be changed. The computer itself is going to be used as a small home storage server.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've pre-partitioned my HDD and want to install 11.2 on the second primary partition.However, when using the installer, I can't get Suse to install on the prepared 20gb partition - it keeps insisting it wants to install on the large unallocated section of the drive.
I find the partitioner somewhat hard to use and the answer may be staring me in the face but I can't see it.

Instead there is an "X" and the text for K3B in it.From the main menu -> more applications -> multimedia, is where the K3B icon is.Yast2 is supposed to install any dependencies needed or warn if it can not find any missing dependencies. What is missing, or is it a permission problem? All the other application icons seem fine.

Is there a way to know the size of a package in YaST2?I only have 50MB left in my root partition / (Btw, my /home is in a separate partition.) and I'm looking for a way to selectively delete package depending on it's size. Also, when we "remove" a package in YaST2, is it "completely" removed? or is there some residual rpm left? (of course /home/configs would be kept as it is an expected behavior).

It only has 146GB available for RAID1 so I created a 500GB iSCSI LUN on my NAS device on the network and am really confused how I can attach my Debian to the iSCSI LUN I created. Right now the OS is installed all locally on the machine but I would like the iSCSI LUN to be the /home directory for mail storage. Is this possible or do I need to mount the LUN to a newly created folder / mount point that is locally attached?

USB DISK icon on visible on Desktop. mounted on /media/USB DISK Clicking on device properties it is read only. I can change permissions but that is only temporary. Looking under my computer it is formated as vfat device name is /dev/sdb
I can't copy any files to it. Can't see in terminal even being root as well. Almost started the Partitioner in Yast but didn't want to accidently crash the system. That WOULD be my luck Can't find a way to format it via GUI interface. Can I use something like fdisk in terminal. I guess I need to format it as ext3.
I have SuSE 11 box. I notice that there's an entry in /etc/services that shows windream running on port 534. Can someone tell what is windream? I tried to google but it keeps bring up German website or something.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect to my network. I am dual-booting with windows 7 ultimate and that connects just fine. When I plug in my ethernet cable to the LAN adapter of the motherboard nothing happens. In the network manager it doesn't even acknowledge something has been connected (ie no eth0 or anything). I'm guessing that I don'tave a driver for it installed under linux. The adapter is the Marvell Yukon 8059 (88E8059 I think)

I had been trying to get alsa to start in the "runlevel" section yesterday, could I have messed something up in there causing this?
