My linux installation was working well with the nVidia card, so how do i reconfigure my system to make it work on the intel onboard card??

May 21, 2010I have just carried out a complete installation on my HP 2133 mini notebook. It was preloaded with suse 10.1 and the first time I connected it to my BT HomeHub2 was with the network icon on my home screen. Since switching to suse 11.2 when I click the same icon all I get is a setup screen with what seems like millions of setup fields that I do not understand? I have never worked with linux before so do not want to guess the settings. I have looked at google search for the answer but every page seems to be for computer programmers or I am just being dull. I can connect the ethernet cable and it works fine, but I cannot even find a network.

However I noticed, also, that you can perfectly use them even with Windows Vista. What I'd like to know is if you can use them even with Suse/Novell and (why not?) OpenSuse Linux.

I still don't understand the 11.1 boot sequence. can NE one help me... tell me what files to give you output from... Ty guys P.S. My shares originate from a Windows Server 2003 RC2 machine, and it's dns server doesn't work correctly... so my mount command is

I configured the device on XP following instruction from this forum and the AP configured perfectly.The AP is plugged directly into the network port on the computer. It *should* function correctly without a router. I tried a restart and Suse has no idea it's there. The computer is currently configured for a wired connection which needs to be changed. I find the partitioner somewhat hard to use and the answer may be staring me in the face but I can't see it.

Jul 19, 2010New Suse 11.3 installation with Gnome desktop. Added K3B using Yast2, and after completing the install of K3B, there is no icon for K3B! Instead there is an "X" and the text for K3B in it.From the main menu -> more applications -> multimedia, is where the K3B icon is.Yast2 is supposed to install any dependencies needed or warn if it can not find any missing dependencies. What is missing, or is it a permission problem? All the other application icons seem fine.

Aug 21, 2010I am using Fedora 13 x86_64 on a Acer Aspire 7730ZG laptop with: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G98 [GeForce 9300M GS] (rev a1) I have kmod-nvidia-2.6.33.6-147.2.4.fc13.x86_64-195.36.31-1.fc13.2.x86_64 installed from rpmfuison when I plug in the hdmi cable to the tv, my tv says the resoultion is at 720p, and I can not get any of the resolutions settings to look right on seperate x screen with the nvidia X server settings gui. my tv is a vizo 42inch. also another question is their a way to set the video card to output at 1080? this might be part of my problem?

Nov 19, 2010to get flash 10 working. I just decided to update to 11.3. Bought a 8.0GB USB stick to copy files to. USB DISK icon on visible on Desktop. mounted on /media/USB DISK Clicking on device properties it is read only. I can change permissions but that is only temporary. Looking under my computer it is formated as vfat device name is /dev/sdb
I can't copy any files to it. Can't see in terminal even being root as well. Almost started the Partitioner in Yast but didn't want to accidently crash the system. That WOULD be my luck Can't find a way to format it via GUI interface. Can I use something like fdisk in terminal. I guess I need to format it as ext3.

Jun 9, 2011Using online Debian guide, installed latest nvidia-current, glx etc which seems to be 195.xx Machine boots to GUI but monitor setting menu doesnt respond nor is there an nvidia specific one. xorg.conf shows 'nvidia' driver but I suspect I am still on 'nouveau' since the synapatic package manager doesn't show an nvidia xserver-xorg-video choice.
Second question, any trailheads for using wheezy based drivers (i.e. nvidia's latest 270.xx) with squeeze?

May 17, 2010I am trying to connect to my network. I am dual-booting with windows 7 ultimate and that connects just fine. When I plug in my ethernet cable to the LAN adapter of the motherboard nothing happens. In the network manager it doesn't even acknowledge something has been connected (ie no eth0 or anything). I'm guessing that I don'tave a driver for it installed under linux. The adapter is the Marvell Yukon 8059 (88E8059 I think)

Aug 20, 2009I'm stuck in the "log off" mode. I don't get the shut down menu. It started when I turned the computer on today. I got a verbose boot up and had to login and enter password and run "startx". Then I got a gray screen before the splash screen.

May 12, 2010If hypothetically I deleted my gpg keys and am not getting updates is there anything I can do to get updates? Almost all software installed is from the repositories where openSuse employees works (official repositories). I have a few packages from openbuild but not too many.
I am trying to read up on security now and see how the keys work so I don't run into this again. It happened during my paranoid attack when I realized I installed packages from the non official repositories and became nervous about having done so.
There are so many virus and malicious software threats now it is making me nervous (especially for XP) and I feel the need to do a little more reading.
