Ubuntu Installation :: Wxpython For Python2.5 In Presence Of Python2.6?
Dec 21, 2010I would like to install wxpython2.8 for python2.5, which I installed as an alternative version in the presence of the standard python2.6 using xubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx (see the end of this thread for how I did it).how would I do this without the installation going for the standard 2.6 version? I found some notes to that on the web:

I tried those, but somehow my wxpython installation got borked and would not do anything afterwards.
Fedora Installation :: Test An Application GUI With Python 2.4, 2.5 And 2.6. Python2.6 Is Native In F12?
May 21, 2010I am driving Fedora 12 and need to test an application GUI with Python 2.4, 2.5 and 2.6. Python2.6 is native in F12 at /usr/lib... and I have alt-installed 2.4 and 2.5 at /usr/local/lib... Site-packages directories for 2.4 and 2.5 are empty. I have tried different tricks to install gtk-2.0 and pygtk in the site-packages of 2.4 and 2.5. But could not find a working solution.
My latest trial was to download Fedora 7 live and copy from its python2.5 gtk-2.0 and pygtk.* to F12:/usr/local/lib/python2.5/site-packages. Results were as follows:

Programming :: Write A Gui App With Python2.6.4 And Wx On Win XP?
Feb 25, 2010I am trying to write a gui app with python2.6.4 and wx on win XP. I am attempting to resize an image with Imagemagick from within the program using os.popen and os.system in a thread.

they both work as far as resizing the image but when os.system is used a command shell opens during the mogrify and when os.popen is used the command shell does not show but the rest of the program freezes until mogrify is done.
I would prefer that the program did not freeze during this process and the command shell did not show.I have tried using wx to scale the image but the scaled image looks crappy.anyway is there a way to use os.system and not have the shell show?

Ubuntu :: Lots Of Errors / Python2.6 / Import CommandNotFound?
Jan 13, 2010When executing different programs varying from the Ubuntu Software Manager to pstotxt and lots of other programs I get tons of errors that have to do with Python2.6, whatever it is. I think it got corrupted since my netbook turned of while installing some (Dutch) language packs.The smaller problem, is that the language packs failed to install properly, and I can see some Dutch sentences between the English ones sometimes...The major prolem, is that somehow a lot of programs won't work anymore, mainly terminal programs. pstotxt is one of any examples. Installing software doesn't always work because of these errors.

Ubuntu :: Install Python2.4 On Natty (for Airpwn) Error 134?
Aug 17, 2011So I've been looking to try out Airpwn, but it seems to only run with Python2.4. Natty, buy default uses Python2.7, and Airpwn will not compile with it. Python2.5 is the lowest in the repos. I tried just downloading Python2.4, and doing the "./configure, make, make install" dance, but I end up with

install Python2.4 on Natty? Any method will do fine. If you have a .deb that would be even greater. Software :: Importing 32 Bit Swig Library From Python2.4 On 64 Bit Machine?
May 10, 2011I am using swig framework to invoke certain C APIs in a C Library from a python program. Unfortunately the python software needs to run on a 64 bit virtualization platform, whereas the C library is 32 bit (its a 3rd party library whose 64 bit version is not available). Lets say the name of the swig generated shared library is _my_swig.so. When the python wrapper makes "import _my_swig" call, i see the following error
ImportError: -snipsnip-/_my_swig.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
which probably means I am trying to import a 32 bit library from 64 bit python. Can anybody suggest any workaround?

Aug 3, 2010I installed tinyos-2.x in Ubuntu lucid. I tried to simulate tossim environment for simple Blink application using the command: make micaz sim and ended up with the following error:

Apr 2, 2010I have a Samsung N130 with a Realtek 8192 wifi card (possibly 8192e, I'm not sure) and I am trying to run Fedora 12 on it. I used to run Ubuntu until trying their latest beta and realizing it's not very good, so I looked for something else. Ubuntu was at least easy to get the wifi working with just a few quick commands that were written out, word for word, in order, on the Ubuntu forums. I tried openSUSE on here and it didn't have wifi working out of the box either but people on their forums refused to give me actual instructions and just kept bumping me from thread to thread with people giving vague advice or else just telling me I was looking in the wrong place. I'm hoping that someone can give me clear and detailed instructions on how to get this wifi card working. Keep in mind that I am coming from Ubuntu and so I'm not super comfortable in CLI, if I need to do some CL stuff I will need clear and detailed instructions on how to do that.

How to send files between nodes on the network (I found commands ftp, rcp but do not know whether they are the correct choice for this). ID their any application to perform this?
Also, I want to perform some video streaming between two nodes to study the behavior of real time data transfer. Is thier any application to perform this?

Sep 13, 2010My laptop is currently running on Windows 7 Ultimate. I have a 320 GB HDD, which I have partitioned as follows. C: Drive as Windows 40 GB capacity and successively partitioned the rest of the drives for 50 GB capacity and left an unallocated space of 67 GB for fedora 13 x64 installation. The problem that I am facing is, that I am unable to install fedora on this unallocated space..even though I am checking the option for "Creating custom Layout". When I check the option for "Creating Custom Layout" Ive been shown with the only option to install fedora on the unused space on the HDD which is around 265 GB. I am also attaching a screen shot of my disk management. how I can install Fedora on this unallocated space of 67 GB?

Jun 3, 2011This post is for an HP parallel printer but I think it should work for at least "some" other parallel printers.I am sure that someone smarter than me will follow up this post with a "well, just do this and that" and you will have your HP Laserjet 6P printer ready to go, but since questions litter the forums of MANY distros on how to get "at least" an HP parallel printer to work, I'll post this anyway.This may or may not work for you if you do not have an HP but you can try it.The install printer box will let you do an install for an HP Parallel and it asks for how it is to talk to it, through CUPS sock or "local host'. When we get through what I recommend you should chose "local host".
