Programming :: Printing 64bit Integers In C?

Mar 4, 2009

I am aware that this question has been asked before and I have also tried the solution suggested but I am still not able to figure it out why I am getting some wierd results when I am using printf with a 64 bit signed and unsigned integer in C.I am running Suse 10.2 on a Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 2 GHz.I tried to call functions strtol strtoll strtoul and strtoull with different integer sizes and these are the results i get from my program shown below:

int i;
char str[100];
char endstr[100];

Programming :: Unsigned Integers In C?

Mar 24, 2009

From what I understand, if I attempt to increment an unsigned int which is already at its max value, it will flip back to zero.Question: is this guaranteed to happen by the C language? That is, can I count on this happening on all platforms?(Of course, I recognize that the max value of the int will change from platform to platform...)

Programming :: Printf Is Printing To The File?

May 10, 2011

Id like to share with you a strange behavior Ive been seen with the printf C language function running in Fedora.The code opens a file as showed:descString = fopen( strcat( stringName, txt), a+);There are also some printf functions in the code.However, instead of the printf functions to print their content at the screen, theyve been printing them in the file with the descString file descriptor.Have you ever seen something like that?To print something to the file I use the fprintf function. I didn't make a mistake to confuse printf with fprintf. I'm sure.

Ubuntu :: Printing With Exact Size Photos And With Poor Auto Colour Printing But The Situation Remains Unchanged

May 31, 2010

I expected more from ubuntu 10.4 with regards to printing with exact size photos and with poor auto colour printing but the situation remains unchanged! for instance .. the photo size configurations for ubuntu/fspot/gimp and others are not compatible with my printers (HP and Brother) .. here in Europe a typical standard size photo (10x15inches or 150x100mm are not even on the Ubuntu listing? I have tried all listed possibilities including "custom" (which does not seem to ever work correctly?)and the result at best is photos with uneven boarders or at worse my printer goes a bit crazy with much wasted photo paper and expensive ink ...even photos selected for "no boarders" still produces photos with the self same uneven boarders.

I have tried pretty much everything over time following advice in this forum and including using HPlip and updating drivers required for my Brother printer but the root problem seemingly lies with the Ubunto photo size setup listing. Working with Ubuntu over the years I have found that it can do pretty much everything that Windows can do except for this dam ongoing photo quality and configuration problem.

Programming :: Performance Difference Between 32bit And 64bit

Apr 10, 2010

Now, I'm ready to run my program, and my code is based on 32bit version. So I run the program on Ubuntu 9.10 32bit. And I got running time for 48s. But that's a bit slower than I expected; the program has bunch of File I/O processing but the result(48s) just doesn't make sense compared to given initial data set. So I just run the same program and same initial data set on Ubuntu 9.10 64bit ver. Then, bang!! it took 1.4s to finish the job.

Do you have any thoughts what kind of fact might make this significant difference? The differences b/w those two OS are "32 vs 64" and 32bit version has Java SDK, Eclipse, Apache2, Mysql, PHP, CGI, and python. We-server service is running but because I'm not really running web server. Did the result come from these background programs?

-- I tested it on the both OS in the same situation as possible as I can.
(reboot->test)

-- BTW 64bit one doesn't have those programs. I just installed on my external hard drive, so it's literary PURE one. (32bit one also in the same HDD)

-- I run these Ubuntus on VMware

Programming :: Fortran Code On 32/64bit Machine

Jun 10, 2009

I'm not a Fortran coder but I need to call the sub-routine ADAPT.f from a c code.This subroutine calculates a multiple integral of a given function.My problem is that the c code works with no problem in a 32 bit machine but it does not in a 64 bit machine, and the problem seems to be related to adapt, which calculations gives a NA rather than the result of integration.Since fortran is quite obscure for me, I don't know why is this happening. Maybe I should change some data type (from real to double), but I'm not sure. Does anyone have a clue?

Programming :: Weird SIGALRM Segmentation Fault On 64bit?

Apr 17, 2010

I've got a weird segmentation fault on the ending 'retq' instruction of my alarm callback, as if "calling pointer size" mismatched the 'q' of the 64bit retq. I've been trying to understand this bug for a while and couldn't get a clue. This code worked well on 32bit Slackware/Ubuntu/Debian. It now crashes on my 64bit Slackware install. I've written a small test case script for those who want to try it :

Code:
#!/bin/sh
#test-sigalrm-pack.sh
# 64bit sigalrm segmentation fault test case package...
echo " * Generating source..."
cat>tst-sigalrm.cpp<<TESTSRC
//tst-sigalrm.cpp

[Code]...

Paste this script into a file (like "test-sigalrm-pack.sh") and execute it ( $ sh test-sigalrm-pack.sh ), it will generate a cpp file (the source) and another script file that use the kind of link I need (static link) in the current directory. Also in order to link you might want to create a symbolic link to you glibc files (see note in the build script), I don't know how to do that "universally" (without the symbolic link 'hack')

Fedora X86/64bit :: Work Correctly With Firefox 3.5 And F11 64bit?

Aug 15, 2009

Can anyone get the website below to work correctly with Firefox 3.5 and F11 64bit?[URL]...All I see is the background scrolling slowly and jerkily, none of the buttons at the bottom work. Reboot into Windows 7 and IE8: the same site is fast, smooth, the buttons work and the product details appear correctly in the centre of the screen.

I've tried disabling all adblock /pop up block options, ensured all javascript options are enabled and no change. Could this be a problem with the 64 bit flash player (installed from leigh's sticky thread) or a problem with OpenJDK?
