I'm trying to get sound to work on an embedded board. The boot says ALSA is present and sound chip is present. So I try to open the device with:
The hardware manufacturer assures me the device is hw:0,0 so I set device to:
This gives me:
So I'm presuming the advice that I use hw:0,0 must be wrong? So I need to find a way of working out what the device id is. I've tried default, no effect, then tried the command asoundconf list, which returns an error. I'm using a min linux build on an embedded system (busybox) so is there a way to find my sound device.
I want to compile Mysql for embedded arm systems that has embedded linux in it. Does any body have such this experience to guide me through it step by step?
I've developed a tiny webserver for home automation out of an ALIX 1D, and based on a debian lenny. It runs very smoothly and is now able to operate quite a lot of different equipment from a webapp. But i'm not sure how I should handle the compact flash, regarding read/write limitations. From what I've read the partitioning should be ext2, which would disallow the journalisation of the system. A utility to 'flatten' the repartition of write cycles exists, would it be relevant to use if the partition is ext2 ?
I will also disable all logging in execution mode (a debug mode will provide the logs). Is there any other parameters I have to take into account for maximum reliability (i.e. does the system randomly write in some files for various and potentially turned off purposes)? As for the mysql database, it's not important data, and it's actually reconstructed every time the server boots. Given this, is there a way to store the db in RAM rather than in a file? I'm not sure it's the right place to ask, but I sometimes see redirection to here from stack overflow.
and I can not seem to find a php-mysql that works with MySQL 5.1
I followed the below thread and added the CentOS-Testing.repo and did a yum update php and it updated 30 packages, but when I try to install php-mysql I get :

yum install php-mysql Setting up Install Process Parsing package install arguments Resolving Dependencies
[Code].....
Where can I find a php-mysql that works with MySQL 5.1? I checked the mysql website and can not seem to find any matches.
Using xsel I pass a selection into a variable. I then check that the variable includes an embedded newline to be sure that the selection returned by xsel is complete. If the selection content preceding the newline is just a single word, the check fails to detect the newline, thus
I am developing a program in a system where the Linux does not take care of the sync command automatically. So I have to run it from my application always I save some data in the disk, which in my case is a 2GB sdcard. It is true that I can make the operation system takes care of the syncronization, using a proper mount option, but in this case the programm's performance drops drastically. In particular I use the shelve module from Python to save data that comes from a socket/TCP connection and I have to deal with the potencial risk of the system being turned off suddenly Initially I wrote something like that to save data using shelve:
But that takes too much time to save the data. Note that I use the sync from the OS every time I close a file to prevent data corruption in the case of the "computer" being turned off with data even in the buffer. To improve the performance I made something like that:
Code:
def saveListData( list ) fd = shelve.open('file_name', 'c') for itemVo in list: fd[itemVo.key] = itemVo fd.close() os.system("sync")
Thus, first I saved an amount of objects in a list then I open the file and save the objects. In this way I have to open the file just one time to save a lot of objects.However I would like to know if adding a lot of objects before closing the file would increase the risk of data corruption.I known that turning off the system after fd.close() and before os.sync may cause problems. But what about turning off the system after
I wrote a code in C to connect to MySQL by using mysql_real_connect function but I recieved error "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)" (by using mysql_error function).
I also did the following things: in mysql I typed 'SHOW VARIABLES LIKE '%SOCKET%'', it returned /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock I typed 'mysql_config --socket' in shell, it returned /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock I modified /etc/my.cnf file
I wanted to know how can I cross compile SMS SERVER TOOL for an embedded computer and make just one binary file for it or how can I change all of its default files places like its demon and object file and gather all of them to one directory to execute and use and run.let me explain it better for you : I have an embedded computer with Linux OS that its file system is read only and I can not add any file to /usr /lib and ..... and I can just mount a SD memory card to it and copy all of my programs to it and run them from there as you understand I have two choices to choose, first make one big binary file for each program that I am doing it now and it is not a suitable solution and the second is finding the way to change default place of shared object file of my program.now you tell me what can I do to solving this problem.
I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:
Code: the-matrix:~ # mysql start ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) or Code: the-matrix:~ # rcmysql start Starting service MySQL warning: /var/mysql/mysql.sock didn't appear within 30 seconds chmod: cannot access `/var/run/mysql/mysqld.pid': No such file or directory

I have recently started PHP and mysql and so far I am loving it. I have read that the best way to learn any scripting/programming language is to read others code and get involve in a project. I am planning to develop a ticketing system for my intranet environment, meaning it will only be available to certain specific personnel to generate tickets, just like a helpdesk system. So a thought came in my mind, that, if a ticket is generated, a email should be sent to the relevant personnel pointing to that ticket. Now what I mean by this is, like if I have posted a query on LQ.org, a email notification is sent with a dynamic url pointing to my post if someone answers it. How its done? I mean is it done by PHP engine or apache?
Select count(*) from stocks2.historical where close*1.05 < (select open from stocks2.historical where date = date_add(date,interval 1 day)) and year(date)=2010;
The problem is with the "date" in bold... i want that date to be the date of the previous row. is there a way to do that purely with mysql? (naturally, i can write a script to go through and compare each date; what i'm asking for is a mysql solution.)
I am trying to create a table T having a field F which should be able to store variable-length sequences of "unsigned" characters (8bit values ranging from 0 to 255 (not including 0, including 255)).(MAX_LENGTH) is not working, as it seems to want sequences of 8bit values ranging from 0 to 127 (thus "signed" characters).Can anyone help me by pointing out if there is a type suited for my needs (or if such a type does not exist)?For those familiar to C programming and working with the MySQL client library, I should be able to (successfully) do something along the lines of:
I have created a database which stores students grades for different stages of a project. One of the stages of the project is the specification part. I have a simple bit of html code which is going to be used as the searching facility. I want the user to be able to enter their ID and then it will display only their results. At the moment, it is displaying the results for EVERY student because I cant seem to find the correct syntax for my statement.
I have just run into a baffling error. I have a database set up in MySQL with six tables. My PHP based website performs queries of all kinds on these tables (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE). On my most recently setup table, the "Orders" table, I am able to perform queries from the server, as well as from my PHP MySQL Admin interface, but all activity from my webpage states that the Orders table does not exist. All other tables are running fine. I have tried rewriting the query script, checked for case sensitivity problems, even cut and pasted other working scripts in place, changing the table and field names as needed. No success. What could cause a single table to not show up like this?
i inherited 200 tables in a mysql db from each of the 200 table there are table created on php pages
the information is organized pretty much the same (fields) in each of them, so i dont see the point of having so many different tables
i wanna redesign the db, in 4 tables each of this 200 table have a few essential characteristics, like: table name is (version_country_type), ie: v8_de_pro, v8_de_std, v9_uk_pro the fields are: No, Document_file, Document_path, ISBN, Book_Name, Subtitle, Status, Year_issue, Author
i will need to break the table name, and put each part in the new redesigned 4 tables separate fields... ill have something like:
but i have no idea how to do it i know i cant do it in mysql... so ill need to build up a php script which will need to read every table, and drop it in the new format:
table1 called Main: ID, version table2 called Cat: ID, IDmain, Country table3 called Sub: ID, IDmain, IDcat, type table4 called files: ID, IDmain, IDcat, IDsub, Document_file, Document_path, ISBN, Book_Name, Subtitle, Status, Year_issue, Author
Im trying to write a program that interacts with MySql in C . Im using slackware 13.1 64 bit and Ive installed MySql , getting help from this page : [URL] .
This is the program I have ( I know they arent any vars here , i just thought it wasnt necessary )
This program is from the MySql website ( a tutorial they have up there ). When I run this program I get hundreds of lines of errors , nothing related to my program , but the headers, indicating that there are syntax errors and all kinds of other problems in them.
I'm trying to migrate my company server to linux, but i have a program that is designed in access what is the best way to move access tables to a mysql database so that i can program it in PHP?
