Programming :: PHP & MySQL - Query A Database From The Web?
Apr 26, 2010I have created a database which stores students grades for different stages of a project. One of the stages of the project is the specification part. I have a simple bit of html code which is going to be used as the searching facility. I want the user to be able to enter their ID and then it will display only their results. At the moment, it is displaying the results for EVERY student because I cant seem to find the correct syntax for my statement.

At the moment when i click the button, no matter what I enter every students marks appear on the screen.
I think, but obviously dont know for sure because if i did i would know how to solve the problem, the code that i need to change is in green.

Oct 17, 2010I am not sure if this is possible. I have IP's stored in a mysql database. When I query the database, it returns the IP. I would like to replace the IP with something else prior to displaying the results. Is it possible even though I have not stored it in the database?
I have the following in a while loop (mysql_fetch_array).

Feb 22, 2011So I've got a rather vast database, one of the columns is date in the following format: DD/MM/YY HH:MM:SS. This is starting to cause problems with a php page I'm writing which asks the user for a 'start date'. Would it be better for me to split the date column into date and say time? Or is there a way of using distinct and masking the times.

Nov 6, 2013I have mysql installed successfully. I can insert rows into my table using phpMyAdmin. I can successful retrieve those rows in PHP with a select statement. However, I cannot insert or update rows from PHP. I get no error messages and everything appears to be working okay, just no results in mysql table.

General :: MySQL Slow Query Log Rotate ?
Jan 17, 2011I am on a CentOS 64 bit and used webmin to rotate MySQL slow query log. Now the thing is although logs are being rotated daily but the new log files being created are empty which means MySQL is unable to write them due to some reason. I have checked using "ls -l" that both permission and owner of files is same but still MySQL is not writing logs. What could be the reason?

X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication.
The application 'mysql-query-browser-bin' lost its connection to the display localhost:10.0; most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed the application.
In ssh_config, I do have ForwardX11 set to yes.

Mar 12, 2011I would like to store JPG files in a mysql database table. I figured that using BLOB fields on the one hand and the 'load_file' command on the other would do the trick. Here is how I set up the table:
mysql> create table blobtable (id int(10) not null auto_increment,
fileName varchar(15) not null,
file longblob not null, primary key(id) );
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.51 sec)
Then I tried to enter the data:
mysql> insert into blobtable(filename,file)values('pic',load_file('/var/www/temp/IMGP4764.JPG'));
Which got me the following error signal:
ERROR 1048 (23000): Column 'file' cannot be null
It seems to me that the file path to the JPG file (although correct) is the source of the problem, and is causing the load_file command not to work. My first attempt was with the JPG file in my PC's home directory. When that returned the same error message, I figured that maybe the file had to be in the PC's (server's) web area so I put it under the 'www' directory.

Fedora :: Inserting To Escape Single Quote For Mysql Insert?
Oct 2, 2010the project I'm working on requires parsing a text file with fields separated by the | char and using perl to insert/update a mysql database. Some of the fields are simple numeric and others are text fields. In some of the text fields I run into a problem creating a proper insert statement for the perl api to mysql if I don't escape the single quote (') char with a backslash (). I can take each text file and do a manual subsitutiton, but I would prefer to use the script that prepares the text file to do it for me. I've tried sed (ex: sed s/'/\'/g ) and it runs cleanly, but does nothing to accomplish my goal. I suppose I could write a function to read the file character by character and write it out that way, but it seems a waste.

As I recall, at one time I found the specification but I'm pulling a blank. As I recall it does a POST of each character as I enter it, and the server responds before I have entered a <CR>. I want to write a client side program that uses that protocol and need to see the spec.
