Jul 23, 2015I just switched form MySQL to MariaDB for my WordPress website which is run with Apache, but I had a little problem logging in. So, I backed up all of my databases, deleted all of MySQL's configuration files, and reinstalled MariaDB. However, now I'm completely unable to login to MariaDB.
Whenever I try to, it says: ERROR 1524 (HY000): Plugin 'unix_socket' is not loaded.
Also, why didn't MariaDB ask me to set up a password during the installation process like MySQL does?

Apr 13, 2010I would like to ask some questions about checking which driver loaded for a hardware. Information: I am using Ubuntu and Xubuntu version 9.10.
1. For all types of hardware (including but not limited to network adapter, video card, sound card, USB devices, etc), if the command 'lshw' configuration does not show the loaded driver for a hardware, but the hardware work perfectly, is there any other way to know which driver loaded for that hardware WITHOUT ANY RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, (and for network device, without using "connection information" feature in NetworkManager) ? If yes, how to do it?
2. Does your answer in question 1 will work for external hardware (hardware based on USB, FireWire, etc) and also the other non-pci based hardware? If it will not work, any other ways?
3. For your answer in question 1 above, do I need to install any packages that was not installed by default during Ubuntu installation?
4. For network hardware, "connection information" feature in NetworkManager does show the driver information. But, like stated in question 1, "lshw" command does not show the information about the driver used, then how NetworkManager get information about the driver used for a network hardware?

Nov 26, 2010i found this quote: WPA/WPA2 are broken in every module everybody has tried (AFAIK) since Adam's 1.7.1.1 DKMS driver. Downgrade like so: 1) Get the driver from [URL]... 2) Go to terminal, and move the pre-installed driver so it won't get loaded. cd /lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2860/ sudo mv rt2860sta.ko rt2860sta.bak. 3) Install rt2860-dkms_1.7.1.1_all.deb. It will also install dependencies needed to compile the driver. If it doesn't retrieve the right packages, make sure "build-essential", "linux-header-generic" and "dkms" is installed. Let it run and it should complete without a problem. 4) Restart. The new driver should work automatically. the deb file gives me an error.

Nov 18, 2010I used to have FC11 installed with the nvidia supplied binary driver. Worked fine, very stable. Trying FC12 and FC13 live CDs caused a hang, so I stuck with FC11. FC14 live CD did boot so I backed up my own files and did a clean FC14 install. Upgraded to get kernel 2.6.35.6-48, installed the nvidia driver from RPMFusion (260.19.21) and had a working system! Now, after a cold boot, the kernel always hangs during boot. Tried a number of kernel boot option (apci=off, noapic and a few others too). The hang is not always at the same place. The earliest it has hung is after:Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint
Sometimes its a few lines later at:NVRM: loading NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 260.19.12 ...(which would seem to imply that the hang can even occur a step or two before the actual driver is loaded!)
Sometimes it keeps going for a few more seconds and randomly hangs during some other driver load.
Without a specific nvidia driver the system always boots ok, so I'm pretty sure its the nvidia driver but I just can't seem to get a handle on this in a reproducible way. Sometimes, when I have make some other change, it will boot and work ok, but a reboot locks it up again (for example, in case it was SELinux, I disabled it and on the next reboot it booted and worked ok. Then, next boot, it wasn't working again). When I make changes, I reboot using the previous kernel, make the changes and reboot, with an occasional success. Once I start rebooting using the latest kernel, it always hangs.
I'd love to get a solution to this, but even some advice on debugging this would be appreciated!
I'm using 8600GT, 256Mb, PCIe card in a MA69VM motherboard with 3Gb of RAM.
Ubuntu Networking :: R6040 On PCM-9343 Driver Not Loaded During Booting
May 29, 2011I'm trying to get Ubuntu 10.04 running on a PCM-9343 board from Advantech. To do so I followed the instructions in this file from DM&P [URL] I installed a text-only Ubuntu using the alternate installer on a CF card that was connected to my PC. After reboot I downloaded the given kernel and updated the installation on the card, as said in the instructions. Inserting the card into the PCM-9343 gives a working Ubuntu Installation. So far so good.
The only thing not working is networking. The ethernet adapter is not loaded on boot, neither can I up it after logging in using "ifup -a". I found out, that the driver was not loaded during booting, i.e. the module r6040 didn't show up on "lsmod". The module is included in the modified kernel, that I downloaded from the producer's page. So I added it to /etc/modules and rebooted. Now it's loaded, but still no eth0. Ifup -a gives the following messages:

And with no luck - as I see it the correct driver is not loaded - Using "modprobe gspca" makes no different. I have seen in some papers that the 093a:2621 is supported by gspca. How do I get it to work?

Mar 31, 2010I have a Macbook Pro which i want to install Opensuse 11.2 64bit(Upgrades to 11.3) The problem is that once i install opensuse and then boot via rEFIt, it loads up till the desktop is supposed to appear. All i get at this stage is darkness with a few coloured shapes in the background (Video driver not loaded).I can however reboot and go in via the failsafe option. Once in here i can use the GUI. I am a total noob with linux, can some one give me the instructions on how to install this driver. Its driving me insane. The application doesn't know those classes , Just it try to load a class by name that its name came from input.
It doesn't know class (So I can't use casting) but just needs to call some methods of that class (every class should have that methods).
I thought about interfaces but I don't know how.

I have a RIPLinux/Tinycore live USB disk that automatically needs to run a script that is stored on the same USB drive but not part of the RIPLinux/Tinycore image. (Please note that I do not want to put this script into the RIPLinux image.) I therefore would like to remix the RIPLinux/Tinycore ISO to automatically run this script once it has started up. After RIP linux has booted I would like to automatically mount the USB drive that RIPLinux/Tinycore was booted from. I need help detecting which device this is.

There happens to be several static and global variables in this shared object library. Hence it is not possible to process two interleaved unrelated media streams using this shared object codec library because each stream corrupts/changes the contents of these static/global variables.
Is there a way through which a context save (save contents of data segment of shared object) and a context load (load previously saved contents of data segment of shared object)operation can be performed on the shared object library. This way the context for each media stream can be saved and loaded before and after processing the "other" media stream respectively.

Jun 7, 2011I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:

I have read that the best way to learn any scripting/programming language is to read others code and get involve in a project. I am planning to develop a ticketing system for my intranet environment, meaning it will only be available to certain specific personnel to generate tickets, just like a helpdesk system. So a thought came in my mind, that, if a ticket is generated, a email should be sent to the relevant personnel pointing to that ticket. Now what I mean by this is, like if I have posted a query on LQ.org, a email notification is sent with a dynamic url pointing to my post if someone answers it. How its done? I mean is it done by PHP engine or apache?

The problem is with the "date" in bold... i want that date to be the date of the previous row. is there a way to do that purely with mysql? (naturally, i can write a script to go through and compare each date; what i'm asking for is a mysql solution.)

Jan 8, 2010I am trying to create a table T having a field F which should be able to store variable-length sequences of "unsigned" characters (8bit values ranging from 0 to 255 (not including 0, including 255)).(MAX_LENGTH) is not working, as it seems to want sequences of 8bit values ranging from 0 to 127 (thus "signed" characters).Can anyone help me by pointing out if there is a type suited for my needs (or if such a type does not exist)?For those familiar to C programming and working with the MySQL client library, I should be able to (successfully) do something along the lines of:

Apr 26, 2010I have created a database which stores students grades for different stages of a project. One of the stages of the project is the specification part. I have a simple bit of html code which is going to be used as the searching facility. I want the user to be able to enter their ID and then it will display only their results. At the moment, it is displaying the results for EVERY student because I cant seem to find the correct syntax for my statement.

Programming :: PHP Ignores One MySQL Table But Not Others?
Sep 23, 2010I have just run into a baffling error. I have a database set up in MySQL with six tables. My PHP based website performs queries of all kinds on these tables (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE). On my most recently setup table, the "Orders" table, I am able to perform queries from the server, as well as from my PHP MySQL Admin interface, but all activity from my webpage states that the Orders table does not exist. All other tables are running fine. I have tried rewriting the query script, checked for case sensitivity problems, even cut and pasted other working scripts in place, changing the table and field names as needed. No success. What could cause a single table to not show up like this?
