E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

With Windows XP, I just right clicked a folder/directory and pressed FIND then I could search for whatever file/folder name i wanted to. I could even do custom searches based on the size, modification date etc.How do you do this on Ubuntu? There doesnt seem to be a way to easily do it like this. So far i found PLACES -> SEARCH FOR FILES but that means I have to go into the directory i want. Where as I would much rather be browsing through directories and THEN want to quickly search in a particular folder. The SEARCH FOR FILES method in PLACES just wastes more time.

I also get this error when I want to install other .deb files using dpkg command " dpkg -i finename.deb. I did some research and it seams that I should install package on my system, but package file is .deb file and I can't install .deb file! What should I do to solve the problem??? Should I install any thing on my system to install .deb files??

Is there any linux command to find directories with a given prefix or suffix, for example directories with a name of debug or debugerror, with unknown some prefix or suffix?

This server (running suse 11.1) was approaching a year of uptime when last night it became unresponsive @ max cpu and was given a hard reset. Suddenly mysql no longer works, it fails to secure a socket and shuts down. The error log says it can't load a bunch of stuff in /usr/lib/mysql/plugin/ because there's no such directory, then aborts after the unknown option --skip-federated. If I comment out skip-federated in /etc/my.cnf mysql will start, but users get access denied--I can't say if the same is true for root, I don't have root credentials for mysql.
This is all very funny because I need to finish/present my final project in a few hours and also happen to be the server admin, yet haven't been able to dig myself out of this hole, 5 hours has produced virtually no progress.

I'm trying to install DekiWiki, which has as a dependency mysql-server. This is what's going on:
Code:
root@servername:~# apt-get install mysql-server
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
[Code]...
Do you think this package might be corrupted, and if so can I manually specify a different version or a different package? I don't know what else to do; ctrl+c to kill it results in dpkg hangups that yeah, I can purge, but I'd rather not be doing that more than is really necessary.

I tried to install the package from centosplus repo but got the error cannot find libmysqlclient.so.15.Not surprising as I have libmysqlclient.so.18. If not does anyone know how I can build postfix with support for MySQL 5.5. It doesn't help that I have never built a binary before - I found a couple of good tutorials on how to build from source that seem straight forward enough but I have no idea what needs to be specified for the postfix build.
running CentOS 5.6
MySQL5.5 (Remi)
PHP 5.3.6 (Remi)

Today I'm installing MySQL for my Django server!
I installed:MySQL-server-5.1.48-1.glibc23.i386.rpm MySQL-client- .1.48-1.glibc23.i386.rpmand can now type "MySQL" at the command prompt to play around with MySQL! W00t!
However, when trying to import MySQLdb into python, I get this error: >>> import MySQLdb ImportError: libmysqlclient_r.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ... and now I'm clueless. I tried looking for libmysqlclient_r.so.15 by typing "sudo find / -name 'libmysqlclient_r.so.15'" and didn't get anything

I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:
Code:

Is there a way to recreate all the folders from one directory to another without copying over the contents of the folder? I've been trying to do something like this,
Code:for i in `ls $X`; do mkdir $PATH/$i; doneUnfortunately $i is deliminated by whitespaces in the filenames and not the actual folders.
$X contains only other folders so I dont have to worry about regular files but any kind of more "advanced" solution would work.
