Programming :: Add Graphic To Console Application?
Aug 1, 2010
I want to write an application with an interface similar to those used in non-GUI linux installation programs. It is not really a pseudo-graphic. Does anybody knows an appropriate library?
I'm trying to write a simple, console based application in linux, in c++. I know how to start in Eclipse and I have some experience in c++ from Windoze. I would like to ask, if there is some tutorial available on writing console apps. I mean, I know from using linux that there are two conventions on using parameters in command line (-v and --version for example).
How system call internals could be known ? I mean for example if i take the example of write system call of linux kernel, where i can find out the code of write() system call in the kernel source tree ? The problem is write() system call directly write on console. If we want to write the data on some web page then write() system call will not do that ? How to redirect out data from console to application like html/web page?
I tried to use NDN [URL] which is fork of famous DN . It's more advanced then Midnight Commander and I would like to use it to better understand Debian FS and do console works there. However, I have a problem and it seems that their support forum does not work, so I thought to ask for general help here, in case it's something that can be set in Debian. Problem is that when I run this manager I can't use arrow keys or 'num pad' or PgUp/PgDn/.... pad but only 'central part' of keyboard - regular keys and Fx buttons. So I was wondering if there could be some problem between terminal emulation and this application that can cause such behaviour which is unacceptable for normal usage, obviously.
I am looking for a good and practical console application. I use midnight commander a lot, and I find it frustrating every time I press the F10 key it displays the drop menu items using the terminal. On occasions I make invisible the menu bar, by disabling in the view menu.
So I am looking for a good console application that when I use midnight commander if I press the function key buttons it doesn't display the drop down menu options.
I have a need to start an application on bootup on the linux console and I do not have a need for any type of login or security. I do not need any ALT-F1,F2,etc virtual consoles but I would like to allow SSH access via the network port for debugging, loading, etc.
The application is a SDL graphics program running with fbcon as the SDL_VIDEODRIVER if that matters. I'm currently using Fedora 10 and 12 but any distro that supports SDL using the fbcon framebuffer would be acceptable.
I have a platform independent compiler. so, i created the common api's and platform api's using my complier. so i have this library files named cmn_api.a & platform_api.a in my auto/linjtag/lib.(they will be created when we run the makefile of the compiler).
The problem is when i'm trying to run the console application of my compiler. i have a menu.c from which i choose different modes and i operated on that.
When i tried to open one of the executable i'm getting this error:
what the best free linux graphic design interface was? Possibly one from the ubuntu one software center. I tried boa constructor and it was glitchy and kept crashing. I want something very easy to use and as simple as possible as i am new to programming. I want something that also supports the major programming languages like python C++, etc and was also wondering where i could go to learn codes for python.
I'm trying to create something like this:[URL]...when you press "fire" you see the graphic. My program already does all the math, but what i want is that animation of the projectile moving depending on the entered data.i really don't know how to accomplish that.I'm using Gtk#.what would i need to create something like that??
So I finally got ubuntu..I wanted to play team fortress 2.Runs great in wine etc.But 1 problem. It keeps saying my graphic card is outdated.I cant see anything. So I downloaded the driver from nvidia website.Followed some instructions. But it says cannot open binary file or something. Is there any other way to update graphic drivers.Cause I realy still want to play some windows games.Mount&blade, Atlantica online, team fortress 2 etc
i justy got me a dedi box and there is no graphic driver installed on it, or it dont work :/ VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. VT8375 [ProSavage8 KM266/KL266] but wen i try installing enemy territory it comes back with error on graphic card
I have an ubuntu PC with 512 MB ram and an 3d graphic card that can normally support Guild Wars on windows xp. I installed the game with Wine an the game opens, I can see my character menu but the problem is none of the 3D graphic parts works, I just see a black screen.I even installed directX.
I wonder if there is any chance to one day be able to code a graphic card (i.e NVedia and CUDA) with GNU software (i.e gfortran) like PGI dos with its fortran compiler.
I wish to implement some part of my codes to use the GPU of my graphic card but I have no idea whether GNU as already implemented it (as for OpenMP). I mean, there are PGI Fortran compiler which embedded CUDA but I figure it's not free. I also wonder if that works only with ATI graphic cards or if for instance I can use my Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller.
In Fedora 10, I cannot get to the installer because it shows these messed up strips graphics (its not due to my graphic card, my graphic card is supported 7600gt) in non-quiet install it shows logical errors and i/o errors.
What I want to do is create a game like an old DOS game, but on the debian linux console. I don't know much about linux yet, but I know C. What would be the best library for doing something like this?
My hardware is the FriendlyArm mini2440 Samsung board. I run our main application from init.d/rcS. It uses printf's to display continuous program debug information that can be seen on the serial ttySAC2 console. I would like to be able to remotely view this information by a telnet connection when needed. What is the best way to accomplish this? The telnet user can possibly activate some script or program. I saw there is a ttysnoop program that I could not get to compile.
There must be a simpler way. There must be several ways. Instead of using printf I could do something else. I do not want to use a normal log file to the flash file system. I had thought of using a ram file in /var directory but it would complicate matters as I would need to limit its size and the telnet user needs to view the program's printfs in a real time fashion.
I've coma across a problem I have not been able to solve myself. Is there a function in the linux API similar to GetConsoleScreenBufferInfo() on Windows? refer to: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...=vs.85%29.aspx
I only need to get the current color settings of the active terminal.
I have this simple code written in python: Code: import os os.system("xterm -e 'ls /usr/lib'") Is there anyway I can hide the xterm window that is opening ?
i create a file with .py extension and run it then on windows it opens up directly in command prompt, but wat to do if i wish to do the same in ubuntu, i.e. i want the .py file to run in terminal as a console program, which does not happen as such.
I'm currently doing a tutorial for writing kernel modules. Right now I'm still at the very beginning, i.e. writing my helloworld stuff.
But what I like to do now is to write stuff onto the console, and I don't get it. According to my tutorials I can print stuff on the console using the printk()-function as long as the priority-level of the macro used in printk() is lower than the console_loglevel (how can I find that value out btw?).
But it doesn't work for me. Even if I use KERN_EMERG it still gets only logged, but not printed on the console and I thought KERN_EMERG get always printed...
Here's my code:
Code:
Code:
Everything works fine. But as soon as there are any blanks in mystring, e.g.
Code:
I always get
Code:
Why do I get this error and how can I insert string with blanks?
when the user clicks a button (assume war application) and the action'system.out.println' a message, how can I *remotly* read this message (read the message from a different computer instead of the server)?when I use the eclipse, I can read it from the console but if I'm in adifferent location, how can I see this message remotely?I'm thinking about remote debugging (JPDA), however, it's very difficult to configure in order to make JPDA run. I tried based on tutorial of google search, bug failed.I wonder if remote debugging can actually solve my problem. If not, is there any other to solve
I use ioctl to get the console window size (the SSH window). I use the following code: struct winsize ws; int returnValue = ioctl(pCommandStructure->terminal, TIOCGWINSZ, &ws); int numberOfColumnsOfTerminalWindow = ws.ws_col; When I debug on linux pc, it gives me the correct window width. But after I try it on router (this is my enventual place where my code shall run), ioctl always give me 0 width, that is, numberOfColumnsOfTerminalWindow == 0. but the returnValue is 0 which means that the function call succeeds.
How can I start a program from tty1 console text mode to be executed in tty2 console text mode? Actualy I would like to start a program (chat client cli program) in tty8 automaticaly when linux PC boots.
The resulting debian package then has an empty "depends" field and no binary.
I used the Qt Hello World example application to start.
I changed debian/rules (generated by dh_make) so that it runs qmake as follows:
Code: Select all#!/usr/bin/make -f # -*- makefile -*- # Sample debian/rules that uses debhelper. # This file was originally written by Joey Hess and Craig Small. # As a special exception, when this file is copied by dh-make into a # dh-make output file, you may use that output file without restriction. # This special exception was added by Craig Small in version 0.37 of dh-make. # Uncomment this to turn on verbose mode. #export DH_VERBOSE=1
am using a PC104 with Linux and i need to control it with a controller that is connected via RS-232 or USB port. I need to launch one or more application some specific message come through RS-232 port. Is that doable? If yes how? I am beginner with C++ on Linux so i don't really know specif libraries. If possible i would like to use pure C and not C++.
i need to debug a application which is using many threads. i am using eclipse with GDB debugger but it is not possible to debug it since it has a lot of different threads and i can not not debug it as wre debug in case of single thread(main) . So i would like to know, is there a way to debug such an application, if there is some tutorial that would be nice to know.
I'm trying to learn how to cross-compile libraries (static and shared) and executables for the Blackfin + uClinux environment. At this point, I can successfully compile a stand-alone "Hello, world" but fail when trying to add a (static) library to the mix. Here's the source code I wrote:
